Rivalry for the ages? Based on 1 season :)) Hamilton will probably retire in 2 seasons same as Schumacher did after he joined Merc to setup the car. Are the standards soo low now? Isn't a rivalry for the ages status reserved for something like Senna vs Prost which lasted for at least 7 seasons? The world is a weird place right now :))

I thought after seeing the pace of LH's Merc in Brazil, Qatar and Saudi that the season was over.
Whats even more impressive is that Lewis nearly overtook Max twice on the straights with older hards while Max was on fresh softs on the last Abu Dhabi lap. That Merc car is still a beast.
Still, well done Max for his maiden title.
Next year will be even more tense hopefully with the new car designs and George in place of Bottas.

The 2nd pit was all written FIA conspiracy. Race director informed RBR that the cars will remain their position as it were. Seconds later they change the decision only 5 cars between Lewis and Max are allowed to unlap. It was ridiculous

Max was an underdog at the start of his career, and now he's a champion. Since then, he's one of my favorite F1 drivers.

I am going to put out an opinion here. Apart from dominant circuits (Mexico, Austria), I believe Max' best races of 2021 are either France or USA (perfect strategy in both races)

The fight between Lewis and Max this year evolved into a game of corners and somehow I remember Max going to the hospital after being struck by Lewis (who got the penalty). But that's okay. The commentators and more importantly the stewards don't agree with you but hey, why not just say Max was trying to crash Lewis, not race Lewis, because reality is brutal.

I LOVED this season.. This is what the fans wanted. I have been a fan since the days of Schumi and Benetton. I loved it when Schumi dominated but I also was bored shitless when he did as well. I love seeing a rivalry on the track. This is what makes F1 so great.
It's not what I wanted. Qualifying gimmicks with points awarded, races declared a result after two laps. Drivers not penalised consistently. Deciding the championship on the last lap when the driver in the lead was clearly faster and deserved to win.
I have to admit that formula 1 it's better this way when there is competition, Lewis and Mercedes got use to win after the summer break 😂 finally some team and of course un agressif driver could be rival for Mercedes.
And it's was just crazy to see how the Mercedes after so many laps with the hard tyres can still compete against a RedBull with a new set of softs.
Perfect results, Max deserved the pilot championship and Mercedes the constructeurs what a beast that Mercedes 🙌🏻🎊

Despite who you root for, if you like Max his driving style or not, he has made F1 exciting again.
Words cannot describe how talented and amazing Max truly is. When he joined F1 the sport was kind of dying and I was like if there's anyone that can keep F1 alive it's this guy. For years he gave us some of the most entertaining F1 action and this season he finally got what he deserved and always dreamt of. Congrats Super Max, you deserve all the success you get!

Over the course of the season Max had 3 DNFs and Leis just 1. Max had lost a lot more points due to bad luck than. You can't say he didn't deserve the title just because he got lucky in the final race.
I just want to say for everyone praising what Perez has done today, I hope they provide the same appreciation to Bottas on what he has done for Lewis and Mercedes. 2 incredible Drivers playing the ultimate team game when it's necessary - they too are Legends.
Now onto Max: What a drive to an absolutely deserved Championship. It took a bit of luck, but Lewis had his fair share of those and he was relentless in taking as much advantage out of those to get this title fight down to the wire. Both have provided us with an incredible Season and the FIA may have played a bad role in all of it, but we should admire the Drivers here, going at it by giving 110% every race weekend and sharing the top 2 steps of the Podium almost every race. How can you not appreciate whoever came out on top today?
I have seen bottas been trying to hold back max yes. But never in the way I saw today which was just too amazing.

Both were effected by terrible decisions, but if you manage to focus on the racing alone they provided, you will finally find the beauty this years Championship has provided us with!

@@InfinityX2 I always stayed neutral but deep down I knew Max will be champion. Even the last 30 laps I assured my wife. This is F1 anything can happen, she didn't believe me. And indeed anything did happen and Max won. I feel bad for Lewis because this win was obviously robbed from him by the FIA not RedBull like everyone was saying. But Max is the worthy champion of the season and I'm glad he got it. FIA needs to get a revamp badly. So many mistakes this season. Great job by both drivers and huge respect for Lewis for taking this one on the chest and congratulating Max. The only ones at fault here are the FIA and they can't take this away from Max. Lewis also deserved the title but Max was just on a higher level at the start of the season, second part Lewis came back and gave us this amazing Finale. Shame on the FIA, huge shame. I think everyone sees that, it's neither Lewis or Max or Redbull or Mercedes fault for this clown show. Max deserved it but not in this way. But anyway he is the deserving champion.

What are you smoking? With 5 laps left, Max Verstappen was trailing Lewis Hamilton by 11+ seconds and had no hopes that he would win the race. His team manager was hoping for a "miracle to happen" to him to win. So, he undertook to scream at Michael Masi to bend the rule regarding safety car protocols, which unsafely shortened the stay of the safety car on the track, allowed Max Verstappen to jump 5 cars that he had to lap, wipe his 11+ seconds deficit, and race with his fresh soft tires next to Lewis Hamilton and his 40 laps old hard tires. Pure robbery, a total disgrace, shameful, and an embarrassment to this sport.
Max Verstappen = Fake F1 champion. Totally undeserving. You can spin it all you want. He is a fake F1 champion and will always be known as one.

A. Reversed the roles on the final lap, with them chasing max on brand new softs, and a shot at the title.
or
B. Retained the pole with brand new softs and a shot at the title.
instead they chose :
C. « No Mickey! No! » : Stay out for fear of having to race Max to the finish line, hoping the safety car would nurse them to victory.
A spectacular defeat ensued, and deservedly so.

I'm not an avid supporter of any team, but its a strange sport that let's teams make tactical decisions and then changes rules so the tactics don't apply in the same way everyone presumed.
Its a complicated sport based on assumption and situations, like Hamilton gained advantage on lap one after going off track but didn't give back space but that's the thing, its not black and white its not cricket its an incredibly complicated sport with millions of variables lying down and to say that's not fair, is just plain ignorant.
it's not the sport per se.. it's the poor decision - making in the race direction box that affects the outcome so much.. disgraceful job in the last couple of races by the officials... They've become the teams' puppets...

Thanks to all the drivers their respective teams, F1, FIA for giving us this season. Put all the BS aside, everyone I think did their absolute best and will learn from their mistakes. This era of cars couldn't retire better than this. Congratulations to Super Max and also Checo for their legendary teamwork. Also congratulations to Lewis Hamilton and Bottas and their team for clinching the constructors championship!
I know some people will not agree with my statement. But I want it to be all about positivity, we got the best show in the world and we are all spoiled to get it. Thats why we cannot forget the people that work so hard behind the scenes to put this circus together in the middle of a pandemic. Please people, vaccinated or unvaccinated, please stay safe and I wish you all the very best this year and many to come!

I hope next year will be even more competitive with Alpha Tauri, Alpine, Aston fighting over the top spots. I personally think the big shock next year will be Williams. They will be a totally new team with Ablon and Latifi.

Spot on! We had an incredible season, where many people made mistakes. Such a close championship is bound to push the limits and mistakes are inevitable. We are all human and need to learn from our mistakes. This human side is forgotten in many of the discussions currently going on.
The FIA had an unbelievably big task in being the referee in this fight where the drivers pushed to the limits of the rules, and this is what should be respected. The result of the tight championship is that the rules definitely need to be revised/rewritten/clarified, that's what we learned from this season.

I am devastated by what happened to Lewis in the final laps but at the same time Happy for Max. Now, I could gloat or cry about how unfair that was to Lewis but I have decided to just accept the fact that the championship is over and Max won. Thats it for me. Now let me go and cry in a corner.
What was so unfair to Lewis? Letting the lapped cars overtake the Sc was the only right move. Just the way of saying first no overtaking and later overtaking was wrong, but honestly it was the fault of Merc to let Lewis out of Box at Virtual SC
@@itspascalito8753 Then why didn't they let all the lap cars to unlap themselves. Just letting the cars between Lewis and Max unlap themselves was a bit fishy. They should have red flagged the race instead imo.
@@itspascalito8753 You realize that the regulation states you either don't let the lapped cars unlap themselves or you let them ALL unlap themselves and at the END of that round SC leaves the track.... Massi decided to let SOME of them unlap themselves mainly the ones in between Max and Lewis and not for example Sainz who could have played a huge role in the outcome of this race and did NOT wait for the end of the lap.... Basically Mercedes strategy was perfect they accounted for both sides of the coin but Massi decided to choose something completely outside of the options given by the regulations to basically give Max the win (although u and others say they wanted racing .... having a driver defend with 40 lap old tires vs fresh reds is NOT racing just a joke)
If Charlie Whiting would still be with us, the race would have finished under the safety car, as it should have. It was a manufactured gift to Max from Michael Massi. That's how I see is.... I'm so sad.

Glad Max won in the end. He deserves it after being crashed off in Silverstone, the tire in Azerbaijan, the crash in Hungary, and all the convoluted penalties throughout the season. Such an entertaining season all around and great to see someone other than Lewis win the championship again.
@Creative Drone Works Hamiltons mistakes are FAR more costly to the championship than Max's. SIlverstone alone swung it 26 points in his direction for basically no punishment. Hamilton has also done that real wheel tap several times in his career and got away with it (twice to Albon alone).
Hamilton has been the cleaner driver, purely on the fact that he has had a car thats been upto 2 seconds a lap faster than the Redbull (proven by data in Brazil).
The driver with the slower car will always have messier overtakes and more sketchy defending, thats how its been for 20+ years.
You typed that whole thing out to make it seem like you are some "genius fan" but you just end up looking like a Crymilton fanboy.

I'm not a Hamilton fan and the reason is he is he has never really had to fight like this and since joining Mercedes the only times he has had to fight for the championship he didn't win . @Creative Drone Works Also turn 1 in last race was not the right decision in favor of Hamilton. And in Monza Max had a bad pitstop also thx to the weird pitstop rule change. The amount of total points lost for Max from external factors is so much more.

The safety car was lucky no doubt... but being tied with Lewis on points in the final race, and in a position to win off of that safety car, was not luck. All is right in the universe after the silverstone incident.

Watching Max and Honda grow since 2014 have been absolutely amazing. It felt like I was him, you know? And to finally see them succeed and beat the dominate Mercedes after so many years of struggling, it's beautiful.
Man, at preseason testing I was given hope, but who would of thought it would of been so tight. Definitely probably the best F1 season ever. Max and Lewis were incredible, both deserved it. But regardless what you think of the end of the Abu Dhabi GP controversy, we cannot say Max didn't deserve it. Yes Lewis was robbed in that race but if we look at the season as a whole, Max and Redbull definitely deserved it!
Yes both of them would deserve it. But Lewis dominated the race even from start and has been robbed by FIA. I watch F1 from 1992 and never saw something like that. Those decisions taken in this GP leave a bitter taste and kills sports. I am reconsidering watching F1 again since it turned in to a movie script. I am so sad for Lewis not passing Schumacher record...

Looking at the whole season Max definitely deserves this title. He had such bad luck at Baku, Silverstone and Budapest. This is now redeemed.
But in turn, he was gifted a win in Belgium for driving two laps behind the SC. That should not be packed in silence.

Despite how much I’m sick and tired of watching Lewis win left and right, I can feel for him for what happened last night. It was crazy. Lucky? Maybe too lucky? Maybe not. Max still had to overtake him. Lewis could’ve defended with his life like Checo did but Max did just enough to make it stick. One lap, one chance, one move to take it all, to have this victory and championship and boy did Max take it. Wow. Still crazy I watched all that unfold live. My brother and I screaming in delight at the TV. What a season. I truly hope the new 2022 regulations can allow us to have even more exciting stretches of moments such as what we enjoyed during this entire 2021.

I have 28 year son , doing competition in running, number of years. He is very disciplined in his sports , waking up early and his training and food but you should see his behaviour with his parents. Rude and uncaring. 😐
I am saying disciplined in regards to his chosen sports. The end result for all the hard work put and inspiring to be a champion was relief for Max. It paid off. He will go for the Win, no matter what. It is his Nature.
I did not see the game until the last part of the last lap. I did not want to put attention on the drivers, I have already said , it’s not my wish but what’s best.

@@POzziee You do realize the lapped cars were supposed to be allowed to unlap themselves in either 55 or 56th lap? It was a ridiculous decision to forbid them to unlap themselves when the marshals weren't on the track any more. Then Masi realized he made a mistake and let them to go through, but the bad thing is that he only left the ones between Max and Lewis.
Also Max was the superior driver all season while driving a worse car. Most deserved championship I've seen in F1.
@@Bluz1 you let them all past or none, you don't make a decision then change it once Horner has been on the radio. Then make up your own rules about which lapped cars pass, and when the safety car goes in.
RB has been the better car, in part due to rule changes in their favour most of the season. It's only be the latter part Merc have overcome this and dominated. Like they did today.
My gripe isn't with Max, he did what anyone would but he didn't win it alone.

@@POzziee Race control was terrible throughout the entire season, MOSTLY in favor of Hamilton and Mercedes, but because you brought up rules changed in favor of RB... let's not forget the change in pit rules after France - they mostly affected Red Bull and their 1.8s pit stops - that's was a huge blow.
Also, the Mercedes was obviously the faster car with the better race pace since Brazil, untouchable.
