@@codlover93love24 This song is about Cassie Bernall, a student at Columbine High School who was killed in the massacre that occurred there. It was reported that her killer asked her if she believed in God, and when she answered "Yes" he killed her with a single gunshot to the head. Later investigations revealed that the question "Do you believe in God?" was actually asked to Valeen Schnurr, a student who survived the Columbine Massacre, by shooter Dylan Klebold. >>
I remember when this came out, me and my bestie would jam to it screaming along. Still as great as it was back then! Ps: This version is the best out, period. Including studio.
I lost a cousin in the columbine massacre so this song has special meaning to me I also lost another cousin in the Oxford MI. HS shooting in 2021 I know I will see them some day again in heaven which will be a glorious day when we all meet again in heaven and get to talk about anything we want I just can't hardly wait for that day
@TheFlyingRatix actually the song is about dying for what you believe in, it's about the columbine shooting that took place, about the girl Cassie who was killed for believing in God, she new what would happen, but she was brave, even though it would mean her death, she loved God more than her own life. Flyleaf happens to be a band compossed of Christians, especially Lacey Mosely, or (Lacey Sturm now, i keep forgetting she's marreid now : ) she wouldnt be down grading her faith.
She’s so fucking dope to be able to just let it rip like that. That is a talent not many people possess. She’s got it in spades. Almost scary like where does she get that from? She weighed like 86 pounds How can she build up that much emotion, stop on a dime and then rip that scream out almost blow, her vocal cords out of her face. I love it. I love her
Without disagreeing with you, you seem to be forgetting Evanescence, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, The Pretty Reckless and countless others. But yes, Lacey is incredible!

For people saying this is an emo song, you guys don't get the Biblical metaphor. "Whoever seeks to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it." Luke 17:33. It's saying, when you "pull the trigger" you are forgetting your old life and beginning a new one in Jesus Christ.
Its actually about a Girl called Cassie who got Shot in the columbine Shooting beacause when they asked If she belived in god she Said yes so He pulled the Trigger and killed her
@CupCakeCrazy97 were you there? did you hear or see exactly which student was asked the question "do you believe in god?". most likely not. the witness statements taken did not match so there is much confusion on the matter. check the wiki article for Cassie Bernall and Valeen Schnurr. the only living witness of Cassie Bernall's death even said the confrontation in question didnt occur. do some research.
I’m a Christian myself and it seems disingenuous to me that she is still performing this song today without addressing all of the information that came to light. Totally understandable that she didn’t have as much accurate information at the time she wrote it, or even at the time of this performance. But it seems unlikely that she doesn’t know by now.
@bhuntz09 shame that cassie bernall was not the one who the shooters spoke to about believing in god. this song should be called "Valeen Schnurr" cos thats who they killed cos of her faith.
I think its more about taking a stand for something you believe in and not letting other people bully you into believing something different...but that's just me.
I mean, it’s literally written about the students at Columbine who lost their lives for being Christian and refusing to renounce God. “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him.” I’d think the meaning was pretty transparent since it’s from a real world tragedy.
@CupCakeCrazy97 ur speaking as if u were there but ur argument doesnt make sense. this song exists because supposedly Cassie Bernall said she believed in God and was shot for that belief. So why would the shooters wander round killing at random but ask just these 2 girls that question, then killing Cassie for her belief but not Valeen Schnurr when she said she did after first saying no?
There were two girls at Columbine who died believing in God on the day the shooting happened. Cassie and Rachel said they believed in God when they were asked. They were then killed for it.
Because it is? It's based on a lie that the church and Cassie's family kept going so they could have a martyr to exploit. It was actually a different girl who said it and she survived. But that wouldn't make for a compelling 'christians are persecuted' narrative.
I went to Columbine I still don't agree that we should change life because of what happened there I also spent a year at Arapahoe my beliefs don't change people were hurt it was horrible but that's not acceptable to defeat the Constitution As bad as this was have you ever walked through a person's life? I took the words and used them I the field I definitely pulled the trigger! It wasn't against a group of children. I don't like it yet shit happens
Crazy to die for something that would never die for you. There is only one thing I hate more than over-zealoused religious groups, and that's Patriotism.
2022 and this song still hits hard!
Anyone knows what this song is about. And is dose she believe in god at this time
@@codlover93love24 Yes it was about a school shooting, where the shooter asked her of she believed and then he shot her.

Completely wrong, fucking dumbass. This song is about The Columbine shootings. No metaphors in it, dipshit. Completely straightforward.

i love it.. *.*
She said Rachel because of Rachel Scott. The are a controversy about who answered this question, Cassie Bernall, Rachel Scott or no one.
no controversy actually, neither said it, Valeen Schnurr said yes and they let her live interestingly enough.
I will say YES!

actually Valeen Schnurr lived........and yes, she said she believed in god. ironic.
Mt bom...😂😂😂
Oh, by the way, the song rocks though.
i dont think that she is telling you to belive in god... i actually think that the song its just saying that god wont save you

Wait till the zoomers find out the song is about a school shooting.
Columbine wasn't a school shooting, dumbass. It was multiple and a bombing!
Did she really say Rachel? I thought it was Cassie? :/
There were two girls at Columbine who died believing in God on the day the shooting happened. Cassie and Rachel said they believed in God when they were asked. They were then killed for it.
It was Rachel who was killed first. That’s why she says another name
@bhuntz09 not true
The rolling Stone would call this right wing now
Because it is? It's based on a lie that the church and Cassie's family kept going so they could have a martyr to exploit. It was actually a different girl who said it and she survived. But that wouldn't make for a compelling 'christians are persecuted' narrative.
