Recently, it had been discovered that you can clip out of bounds in Trial of the Sword. All of the rooms are in one map, and the iteration of the Master Sword chamber is solely dependent on what set of trials you select; because of this, you can "complete" all three sets of trials by beating Beginning Floor 12 if you access it through out-of-bounds.
Initially, this out-of-bounds strat utilized setups involving Stasis and Cryonis setups that were slow, situational, and in the case of the latter, frustratingly precise. On Sunday, however, one of the game's most significant speedrunning breakthroughs thus far had been made: Shield Skew Clip.
If Link lands on a sloped surface with his shield without stringing it into a shield surf, his model during a shield-jump will inherit unusual properties: Link's model will suddenly jerk towards the direction perpendicular to the initial sloped surface. This "skew" can be used to clip through walls that face the same direction as the initial sloped surface, if the skew is severe enough (ex. if the slope faces east, he can clip through walls that face east). The skew persists between save files, which is why I'm able to set it at the beginning of the run before loading a different save. During the stream of me attempting this, I discovered that the Ragdoll Glitch - a corruption of Link's ragdoll physics primarily caused by shield-jumping - potentially reduces the potency of Link's skew, and that resetting his ragdoll physics restores the skew to its full strength.
As for the run itself, it went very smoothly up until Final Trials, where the out-of-bounds clip trolled me for a while and I took a possibly suboptimal route through the chasm housing the updraft rooms. I don't see sub-10 being feasible as of yet, but sub-11 may happen with good execution and luck.

Ok here is my input in the shield clip glitch if it can help anybody who wishes completing trials without hassle.
1. What does the glitch consist in:
It consists in creating a weird animation of link that is associated with unique hitbox/model/game-physics characteristics. This animation is called a skew. Creating one and setting it to the right direction allows u to clip through walls.
2. How to create a skew, skew direction, skew quality, and how to reset it
To create a skew, one simple needs to shield surf on a slope. The shield surf move must make a "clonk" noise once the shield hits the ground.
To verify the skew has been set. Simply walk and shield surf and UNEQUIP shield in mid-air. If Link does a glitchy/wobbly animation prior to landing on his feet, Congrats: You created a skew.
The direction of the skew is set once you create it. If you shield surf on east slope, the skew is set to the left; north slope = skew back; west slope = skew right; south slope = skew front
What you need to remember about the direction is that: If you create the skew (i.e. shield surf with clonk on a slope) on a facing EAST slope, you will be able to clip through EAST walls.
The skew quality depends on how glitchy looking Link looks when doing the middair shield surf cancelling. If the skew is really good, link will have a large wobbly animation during the skew
To reset a skew simply do either the following : getting hit might cancel the skew state, but the surest way to cancel a skew is by shield surfing and letting the shield hit the ground.
If you don't unequip your shield middair your skew will be cancelled. Hence Once a skew has been set, be sure to always unequip ur shield while attempting wall clipping before you land on the ground
3 Good spot to create skew and its application
One of the best spot to create a skew is simply in Monya tomya shrine (a shrine west from korogu forest). Right at the beginning of the shrine just tin the back there is an eastern facing slope allowing u to create a good skew.
How I applied the skew:
Once i completed fair and square the beginner sword trial. I was quite annoyed to have to go through the middle and harder trials. So I used the tedious box clipping by stasis for middle. However on hard trials you have to reach floor 4 to use that technique and I didn't quite master it. So it was really a pain.
Then I tried the skew, since I could do it in the floor 1 of hard trials. I failed a lot despite being sure of doign a good skew simply because i was suing the northern wall..... Once I realised my mistake, the first trial on the eastern wall and voilà, I was out of bound, ran across the fields and rubbed that metal box on the hinox and got a 60 powered mastersword!

I have successfully set skews many times and I feel like I'm getting it right and choosing the correct facing walls. But I Still cant clip through walls. I feel like I maybe am doing something wrong button pressing wise....is there anyway you could describe in detail what buttons you push and when, when you try to clip through walls? Do you have to be moving forward? I've been standing in front of the wall, shield jump, unequip shield mid air, nothing. Do I need to be running toward the wall?
Lindsay Bravo I believe you do have to be running towards the wall whenever you do the shield surf trick
The real question is what if there's an unused trail of the sword room left untouched by the devs...

Hey guys. If you still here in 2019 I just want to say that the easiest method (Not for speed runners) is to use the metal box in floor 4. I was trying the shield clip and took me way to long and I never succeeded. But the metal box clip is more likely to get you to clip out. I got on my first go.
Oh, and for those doubting, BOTH methods still work in version 1.5.0

I figured it out!! It's easier to skew through the wall to the right in the final trial! I ruined three good skews messing it up on the final, but I tried on the wall to the right (of where he was trying) in the final trial and went straight through. Hope this helps!!
Also, for those of us who aren't speed running this and just want the sword upgrade, it's also worth learning the Cryosis glitch if you mess up your skew at the hinox room!

I know this isn't exactly the best place to ask this (I don't have a reddit account and I'm just a casual player) but I was playing around with the glitch today and I couldn't figure out how to get it to jolt forward as much as it does in this video. Is it something to do with you blowing yourself? (up?)
Blowing myself up resets Link's ragdoll physics, as shield-jumping corrupts it and causes his physics not to work properly (ex. You can't Stasis launch with corrupted ragdoll physics, because Link's momentum gets immediately killed); this is typically known as Ragdoll Glitch.
During my attempts, I discovered that the potency of the skew reduces overtime, and that resetting my ragdoll physics restores the skew to its full strength, so I reset my ragdoll physics before every run to minimize the chances of the skews failing.
PuppetMaster9 Thanks for the info. There's surprisingly little info on this glitch, I'd expect some breath of the wild RUclipsr to make a video on it by now. Maybe everyone's just getting used to it at the moment. It took me about half an hour just to get it to work the first time.

Wait... so you beat the same Hinox the three times and it still counts as Beginning, Middle and Final trials? As far as game development goes that’s a massive flaw in the failsafe system, but I guess devs never expected anyone to reach the unexplorable bounds of the trials. Great work man!

Check the description of the video for details on how the glitch works. It's hard to get used to but it's the sort of thing you'll do every time when you get used to it.

I got through the wall, but i've run into a Death Zone, where Link just dies and falls. Do I have to follow the exact route like in here? (towards the the big hills)

I'm honedtly not sure, sometimes i can clip out of the first room in a few seconds, sometimes it takes a while. I haven't figured out how to get it consistant. I just mimic the first minute on this video and keep shield surfing at that wall untill i get out.

So I saw john plays, than because she cuts it at a part where I didn't know where to go I went to swifty 22 to watch his actual video, finished all the trials and now I'm seeing this here and realizing all that time I struggled to get myself out of the room on the final trials before lightning would destroy my cube or stalkoblins would eat my ass, I could've just used a shield.

What shrine is that
Achieves the skew for the final easily, but spent at least two to three hours failing to get through the wall. This includes all sides of the wall. (I tried the metal box trick on floor 4, but they always get struck by lightning before it touches the ground) Any help? xp

How do I set my shield skew to clip through the left side of the furthest walls dead ahead in the first floor of the final trial? I tried Yah Rin but maybe my direction is off?

How did u clip in the middle trials if it was set to go east? Im trying to clip that wall but i dont think u can with the clip ulu used in the beginning trials
U can swing the box left and right to hit his arm, chest, and face each swing but I know that's not your signature move.
Goodness gracious, I was able to pull off the clip in the first two trials without a problem, but the final one is just not budging. I've been able to clip twice, but the first time it wouldn't let me clip into the Hinox room and I realize I lost the skew. So I redid it and got through a second time but got stuck in the infinite falling loop and now I cant get through again lol. This is annoying lol.
Dope run...I will never be able to do it this quickly! I have managed to get through both beginner and middle trials with this trick, but I’m now stuck on the final trial. After a 1,000 or so attempts, I can’t seem to get the first clip through the wall. By rights, this should be an easy one as the stalfos are a joke, but I’m stumped. That wall is determined to keep me in that room. Am I missing something?
I just wanted everyone to know if you break the box and must fight the hinox with bombs try bombing him when he grabs a tree and you blow his while arm off. For 2 seconds then it regrow haha

I've watched this video more times than I can count... I've copied everything I saw you do... I got the skew animation... I'm playing on the switch... When I reload back to Korok Forest and go to the middle trial first floor and get the shield and dismount the shield surf animation I don't clip through the wall...

It's a really weird and semi precise trick. I've still yet to have done it myself but I've been doing a teeny bit of research on it
Finally got the clip to work! I haven't tried it on the ToTs yet but I've successfully clipped into the labrythn shrines, and even got the travel medallion without completing the shrine required first

At 08:11 how are you able to maintain your skew after getting damage from the blast of the bomb ? I thought that the blast of the bombs erases your rag doll state which erases the skew. Please help me understand this !!!
Getting hit by a bomb doesn't disengage your skew. It's just shield-surfing that does (or bonking into a wall when trying to shield-surf).
@PuppetMaster9 Yeah I just realized that, I been practicing a lot more now. I’m shield surfing everywhere now lol and gotten better at making skews and clipping into walls it gets easier with practice

I have been trying this for hours and i cannot figure out how to do this. Am i supposted to sheild surf into the wall and take my sheild away. Im not sure and what was that you did in the beginning in that shrine. I was confused there. Please anyone help me. I am attempting master mode and I dont want to worry about the trial of the sword please help.
The_Gamer_Jack You first set your trajectory by shield ragdolling down a strange slope. Then you shield surf toward any wall and pull away your shield and you should clip through.
Tried this glitch for 2 hours on the Wii u and managed to do it by accident once.
I can't clip through with shield. Did anyone else do this?

I have done a lot of experimenting to find the best way to do this.
I found that you can get the best skew by going to the Monya Toma Shrine in the Woodland region.
1. Enter the shrine and turn right (it will be before the area that has the ramp).
2. Start a shield surf onto the far slanted wall with the torch, once you hit the wall you'll hear the shield clunk and then slide off the wall.
3. Test the skew by starting a shield surf in the North or South direction and then unequipping your shield mid-air. You should see Link completely skew to one side
once you unequip the shield (I have always gotten a MASSIVE skew here).
4. Once you know you have a good skew, go enter the trials.
I also found an easier way to enter the Hinox room. Instead of using the ice pillar to try and enter the room from the middle-ish area, you can just go to the far right side as you approach the outside of the room. Use the ice pillars to get across the water to the area that has the small hill/mound with land. You can jump/climb there and you’ll be in the exact corner on the outside of the room. Just pull out your shield and clip through that wall. It’s easier because you can see where Link is the whole time if you pan your camera down and you have way more room to execute the shield jump. After that just kill the Hinox with the metal crate.

I just can’t get the shield clip. I’ve tried it with unequiping and without. I even tried the log clip and I can’t get either. I’ve read up in the skew thing and I still don’t understand that. I’ve watched this and swiffy’s stuff. How the heck do you do this. Do you have to have the speed boost? I’m so confused.
You need to go to the yah rin shrine and do what puppet master did in the first 30 seconds of the video. That is the settup for the glitch.

So why can't you just go straight to the final trial? Or straight to the final monk room?
You have to glide to it. The final room is surounded by a death plain as far as i can see if you glide too low. As well as that i don't really see many platforms on the outside for you to glide to and land. As well as that, the platforms and stairs inside the room are quite a ways a way from the walls. It would bw very dificult to clip into the room and imediatly glide with enough height to land on any of it, if it is even possible.

can't you skip the hinox and go directly to the master sword chamber from the map ?
It's way off on the opposite end of the grid map, and if I recall correctly, the staircase and platforms are too far away and Link isn't capable of clearing the chamber's abyss. So the Hinox room is the way to go for all three.

Wow! I absolutely love this glitch! It was a little complicated to understand at first but I got it down in a couple of hours and now I can clip anywhere I want. Already did all three trials. It’s actually very easy to understand and so much fun to experiment with after learning how to do it.

Reddit and Shrines with steep slants facing the direction you want to clip. Remember the shrine locations or just mark them for whenever you need to trigger the glitch. I use “The Trial of Power” shrine to clip South, for example. There’s a slant on a wall near the entrance.

The shield bounce there was to set my skew for the next two sets of trials. The run wouldn't be possible without it.
