Lots of times this will not do it. If the upper crown fits real tight on the steer tube with the bolts loose, then you will have to tap on the top of the crown (rubber or plastic hammer) to snug it down before winding on the top cap. Also, make sure the crown, stanchions and steer tube are very clean before you assemble to make tightening as accurate and incremental as possible. Also, not all headsets are created equal. I couldn't get my Acros headset to stay tight on my YT Tues so I had to get a Cane Creek. Never had an issue with it since. From inspecting the difference between the 2 designs it was obvious that the Cane Creek one engaged the crown race with the lower headset cup much more securely.
finnaly somthing with a downhill bike. also if you could do some videos with less expensive bikes that would be great. i think half of the people subscribed to this channel have entry level bikes and always have to make compromises for matenence
Thx for doing a dh video this will really help me as I like to know how to fix bikes and dh bikes are what i usually ride now and I'm quite new to all the different mechanics so its nice to have some expert knowledge. Its also covenant because I was wondering how to do this to fix a friend bike so now I know what I'm doing.
Nice DH bike, but what do you guys think of xc marathon racing? Maybe that's something that you guys could try out and make some video's about?? Like how to prepare and train for a marathon mtb race or what spares and gear you should take with you during the race or bike setup for a mtb marathon?
Hey man what headset would work for my identiti mogul 2013 , the head tube looks similar to yours and looks like an integrated one but idk which one to buy , if you can help me please 😢
I have a rocking noise somewhere at the front of my bike I've re tightened my stem but it still makes it. I think it might be my break disc or my front fork lowers. But either way should there be a small amount of noise and rocking anyway? thanks!
Is the top crown fitted upside down for a reason? Dual crown forks on motorcycles and bicycles are normally assembled with the cast/machined top crown fitted with the flat surface (sloping or tapered on some designs) on the top side and the 'open wells' on the underside. Makes no difference to the adjustment but seems odd that this one appears to be fitted inverted. #askGMBN
Neil your top crown is upside down, the hollow side is meant to go on the underside which'll then stop mud and water building up on the top of your crown.
Its not... Look at 0:30, the top crown is upside down compared to the image in the link below: www.ohlins.com/app/uploads/2015/02/MTB_cartridge_kit_6B_white.jpg The fork in the image is an older model which online cartridge but the crown's are still the same.
I really want to do downhill but the bikes are so expensive and I'm only 16. So can you do a video on the best and lest costing bike for beginner downhill riders? Please!!!
#askgmbn. on a motocross bike we can move the fork up or down in the triple clamps to change the geometry/handling. is this something that is done on downhill mountain bikes also?
love ur videos man keep em up! I have a problem with my headset and I couldn't find any help online so I was wondering if you could please help me. I bought a new stem which was shorter in height than my old ones but I didn't know that spacers were required so I kept tightening it as there was wobbling and then suddenly I felt that the screw felt a lot looser. I bought some spacers off of eBay after and tried to do it again but the screws won't get tight enough to stop the wobble. Ive probably overtightened the screw and the threads are now probably destroyed so what do I do? what parts do I need to replace? if someone could link me to a video or guide I would appreciate it sooooo much. I just got into mountain biking and I bought this bike only a few months back and seeing my lovely bike in this condition hurts emotionally :'(
Air they air? If so add some more (follow PSI guide on the fork) If they are spring then adjust stanction so there is 200mm of stanction between the seal and bottom crown.
On my bike, the top cap has to be very very loose for the bearings to be free and smooth. If i tighten them even a little bit I can feel pressure and the bars don't want to turn. It's a new bike

finnaly somthing with a downhill bike. also if you could do some videos with less expensive bikes that would be great. i think half of the people subscribed to this channel have entry level bikes and always have to make compromises for matenence

Neil will you be using this Canyon Sender in future video's?
Awesome vid. Thank you so much for the help
Neil you should ride a downhill bike sometime ,this one's great: Canyon Sender 2016.
What torque settings do you recommend for the top and bottom clamp bolts?
@gmbn I wonder whose bike is this one SUPER NICE canyon sender
Could you guys do a video on how to convert from V brakes to Disc brakes? Many thanks

Jim Gilbert
This will be so wired

why am I watching this, I can't even afford a loaf of hovis let alone that 😂
Can you raise and lower the bottom crown to fit different bikes?
is that a fitness watch your wearing in this vid? I'm wondering if you can use it during your ride not to mention it's a bad ass watch.....
sick bike
love that bike !!!
Nice DH bike, but what do you guys think of xc marathon racing? Maybe that's something that you guys could try out and make some video's about?? Like how to prepare and train for a marathon mtb race or what spares and gear you should take with you during the race or bike setup for a mtb marathon?
Sweet
Hey man what headset would work for my identiti mogul 2013 , the head tube looks similar to yours and looks like an integrated one but idk which one to buy , if you can help me please 😢
How many bikes have you guys got?
Good video
My stanchion pinch bolts are rounded, any tips
Video title says triple crown but it's actually a double crown
triple clamp/dual crown combination haha
It's even mixed up in the description
says triple clamp but yea
there are two crowns but it is a triple clamp
Do some more DH videos.
Coming soon :)
How much torque should be applied when using a torque wrench?
I have a rocking noise somewhere at the front of my bike I've re tightened my stem but it still makes it. I think it might be my break disc or my front fork lowers. But either way should there be a small amount of noise and rocking anyway? thanks!
Why do people move stanchions. Does this increase or descrease travel?
what would you recommend for all round trail riding out of the YT Jeffsy AL or the YT Capra AL?
My dual crown fork keeps coming loose every time I ride and it damaged the crown race where it is rounded, do I need to replace it?
Love ur vids
Do more downhill/free ride videos
Don't you always loosen the top cap bolt very first because loosening any other bolts on the stem first releases pressure onto the top cap???
my tripple crown Lefty fork is fixed in the position its mounted theres no tightening it if it ever comes lose that i know of.
what threads are the pedals?
#askgmbn, whats the difference between maxxis 3c and dual compound tyres
what do you call the type of that stem?
If I get a chainring which has two less teeth than my old one, will I have to shorten my chain by two links.
If I pull my stantion down to make it level with my top crown will it increase the travel and make the bike more slack?
more slack yes (imagine an extremely short and extremely long fork) / travel won't be affected, unless you make your fork really short
beast of bike tho

How do u install the headset on a downhill fork bike
I really want to do downhill but the bikes are so expensive and I'm only 16. So can you do a video on the best and lest costing bike for beginner downhill riders? Please!!!
ALFA 181 get a used bike.. no reason to get a brand new rig if you are just starting out.

ALFA 181 Pinkbike

how the hell did you get the canyon sender anyway?
great thing about their job is sponsorship. Canyon just sends them free bikes! :D
could you do a video with that bike?
maybe a review or a how to downhill?
#askgmbn. on a motocross bike we can move the fork up or down in the triple clamps to change the geometry/handling. is this something that is done on downhill mountain bikes also?
It is! But not the same extent, Mountain Bikes have less stanction to adjust.
Nice
love ur videos man keep em up!

Sounds like you will need to get a new star nut put into the steerer tube. Best to take to your local bike shop, shouldn't be a difficult job :)
Global Mountain Bike Network Thank you man I appreciate it.
Can a dual crown fork fit on any frame ?
Do i need a new headset
who's downhill bike is that?
#askgmbn my forks have sunk/lost travel how do i fix this
Air they air? If so add some more (follow PSI guide on the fork) If they are spring then adjust stanction so there is 200mm of stanction between the seal and bottom crown.
thanks i will get onto that
more dh bike related stuff would be good to watch but enjoy most vids

On my bike, the top cap has to be very very loose for the bearings to be free and smooth. If i tighten them even a little bit I can feel pressure and the bars don't want to turn. It's a new bike
