This is a fantastic test. Thanks for putting all that time, effort and money into this comparison. You’re in a league of your own! Which bike did you mount the forks onto and is it cleared for dual crowns by the manufacturer? I’m currently running an Enduro dual crown (MRP Bartlett) on my Ibis HD5 but I’m very much wanting to try it on my Ripmo V2. Do you believe that the additional forces of a dual crown could be detrimental to a modern carbon Enduro bike like the Ripmo under normal riding circumstances? Thanks again for your work!
bike is written at end of video. I don’t have title to confirm or ban the use of a dual crown fork on an enduro frame, but what I can say, without any right to say it , is that I know frames are usually tested on a iron rig that holds the steertube way stronger that a dual crown fork. so to my knowledge a dual crown wont be a problem on any bike... but, this is just an opinion, do your tests and researches before you install something different from the original fork.

Single (triple clamps) crowns are shite, or MX/SX motorcycles would use them, and in 50 years they never have. Great video! I'm getting a set of USD dual crown super enduro forks!
I have the Dorado Expert and never use it, because they are terrible uphill. What do I need to do to convert them into 180mm enduro forks? Shorten them, make new crows, and install a modified mezzer damper?
i had this idea for long time but never dared to try it. for boxxer you can actually buy 180 mm air spring so you can have enduro dual crown without any modifications. and the boxxer is also pretty light
Hey there I came across this amazing video via the Google rabbit hole while looking up headtube angles to see whether my own bike is ideal or too much.. I'll explain.. I'm on a 2nd hand MTB budget, and also 10yrs out of the loop after no riding for 10 years after living in Melbourne where you have to go further to ride. Now I'm back in Christchurch NZ where we have a 450m vertical descent just 10mins from the city centre.. So on a 1k NZD budget I bought a 2014 Kona Entourage, which was an Aggressive Enduro, or a mini Downhill. But I bought mine upgraded with Fox 40s & Fox RC4 rear. So it's like a 180mm rear, short travel downhill bike. The bike was built with a lower BB to maintain centre of gravity, & shorter chainstays to be more flickable in parks & switchbacks, with already slack geometry for descents. So even though it's a 2014 frame with 26inch wheels, it has the appearance of a long & low modern downhill bike. But I'm wondering if maybe the headtube angle is a little overkill. I haven't measured it yet but if by chance you know of the frame, designed for gravity riding & hucking. If maybe the Fox 40s would alter the geometry just a bit too much? Be interested in your thoughts..
@@RULEZMANSUSPENSION That's not what I was asking but cheers for reply anyway.. The bike I was enquiring about, a 2014 Kona Entourage was an Aggressive Enduro or a Mini Downhill as standard. It has more of the aspects of a Downhill bike of its time than a 2014 Enduro or Freeride normally did. With slack geometry, low BB & big welds & suspension bolts. With the Fox 40 upgrade it looks like a proper Downhill, rather than an older Enduro or Freeride bike with a Fox 40 added. It just has 180mm rear instead of 200mm is all, so is also climbable to a point. But I was asking if maybe the Fox 40 would make the head tube angle too slack & affect handling. But it's all good, I found an app & measured the angle, it's 62deg which is well within a DH standard, & a 35mm offset, so it's all good on that front.. It's an interesting frame though. Despite shorter chainstays it still has a reasonably long wheelbase. And despite it being a 26inch frame from 2014, it still has modern geometry & looks like a more modern bike, probably due to a lower BB. Will get an actual Enduro MTB when I upgrade to a newer bike though..
you need 555 tall fork for that bike. Geometry is like a bmx of 2020… it is extremely short in wheelbase , mega short in chainstay, and 65 hA. I would not put a fox40 on it
@@RULEZMANSUSPENSION Ok cool cheers for the reply again. Yeah it already came with the Fox40 on it & the RC4 also. I bought it 2nd hand for 1k nzd. I also bought it having not had a mountain bike in 10 years, just a single speed fixie for commuting. So i didn't even realise 26inch frames weren't being made any more, only that i thought i wanted a Downhill bike & i was on a budget. My previous bike 10 years ago was a 2008 Iron Horse Yakuza so the Kona Entourage seemed modern lol. All the prices on 2nd hand 27.5 frames were around the 1800 mark unless major problems. In retrospect i should have just waited & bought a newer bike as i needed to replace parts anyway but it's all a learning curve i guess.. With the Fox40 the head tube angle changes from 65 to 63/62, i used a protractor app to measure it. I wouldn't think that's too drastic? Given the frame is pretty bombproof & still has newish geometry i wouldn't think it would put too much strain on the frame?
The effort that went unto this video is unimaginable
correct 😅😅😅😰

Complimentissimi per il fantastico video! Che lavoro spettacolare!
grazie!
Holy shit real scientific testing, nothing like the "experiments" from some others. Beautiful video.
appreciate man
J’adore ! Merci
Pourvu que le marché change.
MERCI! cette fourche est a vendre! 170 travel, 37 ou 49 offset!
I just ordered a Dorado after watching your videos. I'm going for a DH/Enduro setup. This will be my first USD fork and to be honest I'm very curious how it feels and if it's real flexy like a read in many reviews...Top quality content here!
Good choice!
Che cuore!!! Tanta roba, complimenti davvero!
grazie mille
Awesome video . What direct mount stem are you using ?
I appreciate, thanks. I use OnOff components stoic DH discontinued... now replaced by the newest and nicest Krypton dh, same brand
RULEZMAN SUSPENSION thanks !!!
what do you do for work and how do i get there?
Grande Dave, video davvero ben girato e contenuto molto interessante. A presto!
grazie man!!
Single (triple clamps) crowns are shite, or MX/SX motorcycles would use them, and in 50 years they never have. Great video! I'm getting a set of USD dual crown super enduro forks!
Complimenti per il test, sempre esaustivo nelle spiegazioni; dove posso trovare la traccia del giro che hai fatto? ciao
strava, e la stessa del segmento “FEGLINO BASE CRESTINO LOOP” a finale ligure
This needs more attention 🧐
I agree....
I have the Dorado Expert and never use it, because they are terrible uphill. What do I need to do to convert them into 180mm enduro forks?
Shorten them, make new crows, and install a modified mezzer damper?
send it to me! I take care of it!!!!
@@RULEZMANSUSPENSION How much would it cost?
contact me via wazap or email. there are too many variables to say now a precise cost. we talk about it find the best level for you
i had this idea for long time but never dared to try it. for boxxer you can actually buy 180 mm air spring so you can have enduro dual crown without any modifications. and the boxxer is also pretty light
cool! I am sure I am not alone thinking about s solid front end
hai fatto un capolavoro con questo Test .. BRAVISSIMO
thanks
Bellissima comparativa, in italiano avrei capito meglio. Adesso mi fai venire un dubbio.... cosa montare come forca sulla mia olympia hammer?
ci sono i sottotitoli !!!
@@RULEZMANSUSPENSION grazie!! Non sapevo come attivarle. Adesso lo riguardo👍
Do you feel that a dual crown fork would be of significant benefit to an intermediate level rider that is particularly tall and heavy (6'4" & 120kg)?
100% sure !!!
DH forks are DH forks. if you wanna usw foe enduro, you have to modify it. No enduro dual crown exists on the market right now
@@RULEZMANSUSPENSION That's not what I was asking but cheers for reply anyway..
