Lower your windows about 4 inches, and the buffeting is better. As to 'boulevard cruiser', not sure that's very accurate for a car of this ability, but if it is true, it's the best of the 911s for that 'purpose'.
The 991 Targa 4 -GTS is nicer... Cooler wheels and blacked out trim on the previous model is better. Also, I drive my Targa on the highway all the time and have no complaints about the wind, so think you are nit picking about the wind. The Targa is much better than a Cabriolet
Partly agreed; i love my 991.2 Targa4S and think it looks better than the 992. About that Wind-Noise, it is disturbing anyway but if You lower the Windows a few Centimeters on both Sides, 90% Noise is terminated. Who buys a Targa knows there will be some rough Noises, so what. Its true Targa-Addiction to ignore these Winds.
I really like your style of presentation and was interesting listening to your comments regarding size and weight. I realize you are 'The Nine Eleven Guy' ... but would you ever consider doing any reviews and opinions on all generations of the Boxster ????
Cheers Matt! I think there's increasing appetite for it, so will look to do some in future, as some enthusiasts start with a Boxster/Cayman before switching to 911.
Thanks Lee .... I think with your charismatic and genuine loyalty and knowledge of the brand will work well with the Boxster/Caymen .... there really is no channel for them out there and I feel your style and delivery of information and history will truly help legitimise the smaller yet equally important Porsche variants. I loved your 'Pinky Lai' interview and is partly why I purchased an absolute mint 986 2003 Boxster S. Of course I am also considering a 911 (As in for over 40 years hehehe) and your Fuchs clad Irish Green 996 is absolutely spot on .... A very clever retrospective 'Tip of the Hat' ....
"...interesting listening to your comments regarding size and weight"... Really? Was that really "so interesting" for you? As a grown up person, you should be able to realize, that a lot of heavy and thick glass over the rear top has a big influence on the weight numbers. Also the whole Targa car body was reinforced, more than in the 911 Cabriolet. Therefore it's even heavier than the Cabriolet. But like we know from Porsche: this hasn't big influence on the driving capabilities with this sports car.
That won’t tempt me out of my 9 .1 4S cab. Tried a Targa and couldn’t suffer the buffeting, cab is so much more refined roof down. White with black wheels doesn’t do it any favours IMO either. Nice review.
Lee, another cracking 5411 seconds. Never really understood why they have only done the Targa as a 4S since 991. The roof adds extra weight as well as the extra driven wheels. Now if they did a Turbo Targa, that would negate all the extra lard, wouldn’t it? Also disappointing to hear the amount of wind buffeting. I suppose this is the price you pay for drop dead gorgeous looks. Out of curiosity how does the wind noise compare with a 992 convertible with the deflector in place? My old 997 coupe with sunroof open has more wind buffeting at 70 than our old Saab 93 with the roof open (and deflector in place). Just noticed you gave us all a free 180 seconds!
Appreciate your comment! The Cab is much more civilised in terms of wind noise. You can sit at 90mph with its wind deflector up and have a normal conversation with your passenger, whereas you'd be shouting at each other in the Targa at that speed! This applies for 991 and 992, by the way.
Timothy Bilecki I am with you. I loved the way the 991 targa looked the moment I saw it, but it looks like it is a triumph of form over function. I have had a few convertibles with wind defectors and they are comfortable and quiet at 90 mph. The only problem is that the 911 convertible looks a bit ungainly to my eyes.
I've not driven one yet, but I've heard that the noise is actually better if you have the windows down. Sound strange, but I've heard from several people now.
Wow, you are really quite annoying! Your "complaints" about the "wind buffeting" in the new Targa, which didn't improve compared to the predecessor Targa, are really totally boring! Hey, this is still a sports car!!! And no: the wind buffeting has improved, buddy. You don't tell the truth, because the little plastic spoiler on the upper windshield frame makes a small difference.... Small, but it has improved. Here in Germany, you would feel it even better, because at higher speeds, there is a clear improvement. Sadly, Brits and others are not allowed to feel this, because of their ridiculously low speed limit. When such a small detail seemingly is the biggest "issue" of such a car, for the customer life must really be fucking boring. Even in this video, you can't hear really loud noises from the wind. It's totally implausible what you are telling! Here in Germany, all the Targa testers have nothing bad to say about the "wind buffeting". And by the way: just open the windows at higher speeds, because it kills the wind buffeting completely!
19 seconds of joyful engineering.

1. Of april i’m getting my first 911 😄. Can’t wait - a well kept 997 base carrera 🥰
Keep up the great 911 content 👌🏻
Thank you!

Oh that is fabulous!
Great work smashing that one out in a day Lee. Different camera than usual for the in-car?
Thank you! Same GoPro, not sure why it came out slightly clearer, I do aim to upgrade in the next couple of weeks.
Little Irish still looks stunning 😉

@@mattbuckley392 Really appreciate your sentiments, Matt. I'll add the cars to the list!
Fantastic Stuff ....

Nice B roll. Nice car
Thanks Tuomas!

I always like targas. I like that shirt, even more, though.🙃
Very glad to hear it!
Looks good, but I feel this spec doesn't fit the targa.

That Nine Eleven Guy Yep agree with that.
The wind buffering would keep me from buying this. It’s a shame because it’s absolutely gorgeous.

It's a sports car and need to perform well within all its envelopes. To expensive to simply be a boulevard cruiser.
Couldn’t he get a right hand drive one?
It’s what you call a knife and fork haircut.
If the next video isn't 9 minutes and 11 seconds, I'm unsubscribing.
😂

You seem a very angry person. Thanks for giving me a good laugh while sipping my Sunday coffee. I hope you don't stay this miserable forever!
