I recently bought the "generic" Kindle (White Model) after owning a 4th Gen Kindle for 11 years, which I used everyday. I'm not a fan of the Black Model and even less so, the Paperwhite due to fingerprints and, with the latter, the "flush" screen, fingerprints and possible scratches. But, I did have it in a case for a few weeks but have decided that I prefer it "naked," and have bought a fabric sleeve from Etsy, for taking it out and about, which I do, everywhere! I love it for the same reasons as yourself. I only read physical books, these days, if I can't get them on Kindle, or they are gifted to me! 😉📚
Wow, you have been using kindle for a really long time then. I have not had any scratches on mine but again, I only bought it during the pandemic, which is also why I have not really been taking it to many places. So I almost always use it at home. I do like physical books though. But with the Kindle, I simply read more. So now I read both ways. :)
i have always read books, i got into the kindle ecosystem with the paperwhite in 2014. i read a solid 60 to 90 minutes every day of the year. at least 1.5 books a week. it is insane how much you get done. i'm from germany and by reading in english and using the dictionary, which automatically creates index cards, i managed to really extend my vocabulary and i now feel confident when expressing more difficult or longer thoughts, even in english. get a kindle guys, it's amazting.
Thank you for sharing this, Dennis! I am really glad to hear that you are consistently using the Kindle Paperwhite to read a lot and also to improve your vocabulary. Are you using English-German dictionaries or English-English ones?
My kindle disappeared from view years ago and is collecting dust somewhere but from time to time I flick through a few chapters of Sand-buried ruins of Khotan, a real book. Kindle is technical, books are emotional.
Yes, books are definitely emotional, they are a big part of our life, especially for those of us in academia. And Sand-buried ruins of Khotan is a wonderful book. Very expensive, too. 😀
I bought one ages ago, like 10 years, and gave up because it was no good at reading Fachliteratur. In contrast, I love my ipad, because I can have it read outloud to me boring committee papers or student work while I am eating or the like, and because I can write on it with the pen.
Thank you, my fellow Kindle lover! I bought a total of 5 Kindles, as gifts or to replace my own. I know the lady who heads Amazon Kindle content team also attended Shanghai International Studies University, although only for a brief while. I'll tell her your feedback!

Great video! thank you for the obvious and specific descriptions. Kindle is my favourite e-reader as well.
But a single problem for my Oasis 3rd Gen is the battery doesn't last as long as my old paperwhite.
Thanks for the comment. I did not realize there was a significant difference between the two models. Good to know!
I agree with everything. I love my kindle. Try positioned in a horizontal position, better experience.
Oh, I have not even thought of that! Great idea! 👍

Ah, the iPad! I just got one recently so I don't have much data on it. :) Maybe in a couple of months...

Wow, that's amazing! Suddenly we are reaching to places where decisions are made! Thank you, Julie! 😀
You have 2 Kindle. Why do you have 2devices? How do you use them in order to keep useful both of them ?
Yes, I now use them to read in different languages. It simplifies the use of dictionaries and looking up words.
