    I know your channel is about the adventure and not the vehicle. That being said, I was drawn to your channel initially because I’m a jeep owner and I enjoy watching what you do to and with your Jeep. Your adventures are awesome no matter how you get there.

    I hope people recognise that your 3 mile hike is actually 6 miles for all the times you set up your camera and walk past it and off into the distance.
    I like your Chanel man. Your life seems sweet, but your honesty doesn’t pretend it’s perfect.

    So cool that you’re finally partnering with Ursa Minor. You’ve given them so much free advertising already! I know I’d buy one in a heartbeat if I had a Jeep. And that’s all because of your channel.

    Thanks for having the Best and most Interesting channel on RUclips 😀👍I look forward to your adventures and hopefully your beloved Jeep will be ready asap. I can tell you have a lot of love for it. I have a 2008...and it's in the shop as well. And I really miss driving it 😪 Stay Safe out there.

    The shop, OK4WD, has impressed me as a capable and knowledgeable operation from seeing the quality of the work they do on your truck. I'm sure they've checked the entire fuel system all the way to the injectors on the engine. Making sure everything is clean all the way from the tanks to the engine is critical. Good luck!

    Chris those boots! Woof! What are they? They look warm as hell!
    As for the fuel contamination! I can only imagine what it is doing to your injectors and intake manifold! As a 18 yeah mechanic I recommend a good professional cleaning such as BG in the tank and injector cleaning and intake cleaning. If you are ever in columbia SC I’ll hook you up.
    The tent is a good idea for the channel to get to some more cool spots. Love the bug out idea.
    That solar panel is awesome good location and the panel it self can be protected from low branches by your kayak!

    I’d say years at filling up at questionable gas stations... good practice is if you ever see a fuel tanker at a gas station filling the tanks drive past to the next one. As the the fuel is dumped in so fast from the tanker that it stirs up all the contaminants and it ends up in your vehicles tank filter or no filter. My buddy who drives a fuel tanker told me this info.

    Not sure if you've came across the information about it yet, but I remember during your exploration of the Grand Canyon, you were talking about how you would like to be able to go down into the canyon, there is in fact a trail called the rim to rim trail that I believe is around 23 miles, now that you have some awesome backpacking gear you can check it out. Just an idea for you when things open back up and the dust settles so to speak. It has been an inspiration watching all your adventures, keep doing what you're doing, never stop exploring.

    Purpose of the gaiters? Anti-snake bite? In the winter?
    Smart integration of the heater into the floor of the Jeep and the tailpipe. Maybe get a short length of aluminized expandable dryer vent hose, or something like it, to slip over the tailpipe and keep the exhaust fumes well away from the Jeep while you are sleeping?

    "My bushcraft is lame!".....omg I could not stop laughing!! I know guys that you could drop at north pole in their underwear, and 3 days later you'll find them on your front porch with a sun tan and and a fist full of pesos! Ok Chris... maybe you aren't one of "those guys", yet you are out there week in and week out DOIN" IT.
    Though I rarely comment I've been following you from just about the beginning and I have to stay that admire your spirit and willingness to face adversity on your own (even when it's self inflicted). Thanks for chuckle my friend! I bet you wont be found without means to start a fire ever again. Cant wait to see the heater in action, as I get older my days of "roughin it" are going to be fewer and fewer and on that that note I absolutely LOVE that Ursa Minor.

    Burner "coking" problems at altitude are why I'm working in installing a Propex in my JKU. Appreciate the heater install overview just the same! I've been using that same Victron controller for almost 2 years with no issues - great choice.

    • @mroggio
      @mroggio 5 лет назад

      I don't think there's any significant altitude involved in this situation

    • @ThePyleDriver
      @ThePyleDriver 5 лет назад +1

      Miah Roggio you are correct - I’m only pointing out that altitude brings a whole host of issues to both gas and diesel heaters that don’t happen with propane for people considering these. I’d prefer diesel but the zero maintainance and altitude performance of the propex wins for me. It’s also the lowest power (battery) consumer of the three forced air options.

    I've used that same heater but the diesel version in my big truck and if gasoline is as effective, and I can't see why it wouldn't be, that thing is a beast. In zero degree parking situations I ran it on the 2nd mark. Anything more and you had to crack a window. Super effective and doesn't use very much fuel at all.

  • @augiewolff2754
    @augiewolff2754 5 лет назад

    Wabasco is a really good name in auxiliary heating. In the trucking industry of course we use diesel. Will be very interested in your usage of fuel.. Currently my employers fleet use about 1 gallon of diesel for every 10 hours.

    Happy New Year, Chris! I admire your patience and your positive attitude. I enjoyed your side excursion and the Gregory backpack is awesome. I don't know who invented Ziploc bags but God bless him or her! They are so versatile in saving space and food products, fresh or leftover. Hey, I plan to drive out to Flagstaff in May to attend the Expo and hope I get an opportunity to talk with you. Some time this year I want to invest in a larger overland unit to replace my miniscule '16 Jeep Compass. My wife and I love it for its economy and comfort but I want and need more space; and hauling a trailer is out. I hauled a gear trailer all over Europe and it was a pain in the ass. I want to see what options are out there.

    I would be worried about the car exhaust back feeding through the Webasto like that. Particularity if the vehicle was stuck underwater or otherwise with the exhaust restricted. I would have just tack welded the heater exhaust to the top outside of the tailpipe.

    After they get everything cleaned on your heater, you could put a disposable inline filter on the fuel line up to the heater. If you ever have problems again with the heater, just check the filter. That way, you won't have to tear apart the heater and more importantly, you won't have to go without heat. The main engine has a filter and that's why you didn't know you had a problem. Those filters are a few bucks and are available everywhere....including walmart by the car section. You probably wont read this because you are way too popular, lol. Maybe this will help someone
