I have been writing with a fountain pen since 1975, my mother got me interested in fountain pens. I journal and have many full books of thoughts, prayers, victories and defeats. I don't write with the intent of composing a great novel. I write for mental health and to find peace at the end of the day. I used to drink alcohol to cope with stress. In my elder years I find that writing, smoking a pipe and having a good cup of coffee is the most effective diagnosis for stress relief. YOU HAVE to practice every day to become an effective writer. I love my fountain pens and I think those are the only true pens that you should write with.

There is no judgement in writing in a journal unless you are writing for others to read. These are your thoughts and you should be able to write whatever you want. My journals are unabashed thoughts without filters and are a great way to relieve yourself of things that may have been a burden to carry.
In addition, writing is also an exercise in improving my handwriting with fountain pens. I have found a distinct difference when using a ballpoint versus a fountain pen.

People love imagining things, so leave as much blanks as possible. Write that which is essential to get the scene and the character of the story.

I want to push back on the paid course advice. Yes, there’s value in a paid course. However, you want to be careful not to choose a course without researching the quality of the product. Ideally, a good course goes through edits and refinements before publishing. Sometimes the courses can be a grift from the creator to make a quick buck.

When you say we should write in a way that that makes sense and anyone can read and understand, do you also mean that they should be able to ready the handwriting itself?

Beautiful writing. What size nib is on your MB?

I saw your video on EF pens. I have a Jinhao 82 in EF, which is fairly scratchy, and I only use copypaper or other cheap paper. What inexpensive pen in EF would you recommend that might be smoother writing than the 82 on cheap paper?

Any Lamy or a Platinum Preppy works well imo. Or go to a Jinhao 9019.
