FISH SPECIES
Large numbers of barramundi, threadfin salmon and mangrove jack inhabit the many coastal creeks available to Seven Spirit Bay, and they can often be sight-fished in these sandy, clear and pristine waterways. Opportunities for fantastic blue water fishing also abound with a variety of desirable pelagic species such as Spanish mackerel, broad-bar mackerel, giant trevally (GTs), queenfish, longtail tuna, giant herring and golden trevally. If jigging over the inshore reefs is more your style, then trophy-sized golden snapper, big black jewfish, coral trout, bluebone, estuary cod and many other reef species are a welcome addition to the lodge menu.
FISHING SEASONS
Fishing at Seven Spirit Bay is good at any time of year. However, there are times in the season where fishing is at its peak. This is during the ‘run-off’ in March/April, and the ‘build-up’ in October/November. During these periods, the water is a little warmer and can produce astounding results. This is why the months of March/April and October/November are reserved purely for sport fishing packages, which are sold through our exclusive agents Fishing Tropical Australia (see bottom of page). Fishing during the Dry Season from May to September is still rewarding, with plenty of success still had by guests visiting at this time of year.
