Another lovely restoration. I love how you try to keep as much of the original item where possible. So few people would have repaired the wood as you did.
Super boulot!
Thanks for sharing another beautiful restoration. I used one of these 60 years ago when my family would summer in upstate NY on a dairy farm. Before we fed the chickens, we'd use this sheller. Theirs was dark red with black trim and gold scrolls painted on the sides. You probably already know this, but the handle was a large, flat lazy "S". You did a cool replacement on yours. Avril says the man-human sure brings home cool stuff to sniff and play with!
For cracks and splits in wood like on that crank handle up to 3-4mm wide mix fine saw dust (I sieve the contents of my dust collector) with table top epoxy until you get a paste, trowel it on over the cracked/split area, let it cure and sand it flush. You can also use a tiny bit of oil-based wood stain to color match without affecting the epoxy cure.
Wow, that's all machine is so old. really I like these kinds of machine. thank you so much to upload this video for the world. after the next generation can watch this video. really you are great people. again thanks to you so much.
Love it!!!! I really like the fact you put it back to the color it was made with. That's one thing I don't like that most of the other channels will change the color to what they like now with what it was made with. Thank you for that!!! Oh and great job restoring it Enjoyed and gave a Thumbs Up also
Every time I've been close to picking one of these up, I've had to remind myself that I don't really need to shell all that much corn. It's a shame though, as it is one of my favorite tools.
I liked your video and thought you did a very good job of restoring this piece that most people would have scrapped! Now, it is a useful tool again, or a showpiece in an exhibit. I liked the way you repaired the broken leg instead of just making a new one. Now, it has returned to the time it was first made! Thank you for posting!
Superb piece of sympathetic restoration beautifully presented! Thank you. Also the kitty seems to be part of the crew and loves to be with you- great addition. I always enjoy seeing him (or her?) :-)
Great job guys. In one video whilst the old man still does the real work🤣🤣🤣, you've aspired from bolt polisher too rust grinder, bolt loosener and head painter🤣🤣🤣. Keep up the great work👍👍👍👏👏👏
aaarrrrrr 🌽 seed separator i see......from the beginning I'm asking myself what he's restoring really ????? and i decided to watch the whole process 😂 well worth my time anyway 👍👍👍 impressive sir 👏👏 and the 🐈 is cute uuuuuuuhhh not forget the background 😰😰 beautiful view 😍
Can it be belt driven via the flywheel? Love the separation of the corn cobs, I thought they were milled too, but they came out clean an empty, wow... 8-) Great job, love the cat and the stop motions! :-D
I remember going into the barn with cousins to shell the dried corn we pilfered from the corn crib. We wanted to feed the chickens and the horse. Of course grandma would fuss at us, more so because of the bees and hornets that hung out in the corn crib than because of us snitching the corn. Every visit to the farm was an adventure to see what new thing or place we could discover.........and not get ourselves killed in the process. :0)
Very good restoration. But I am very jealous of you. You already have trees with flowers, apples i presume. I still have ice and snow here in Toronto. This winter is never finishing. Your trees give me hope. Thank you for sharing.
Witam i pozdrawiam!!Dobrze wykonana renowacja tego urzadzenia!!Jedynie mozna bylo uszkodzone kantowki wymienic, lepiej jeszcze byto wygladalo!!Filmik z pokazem okey!!
Another one saved! And this one will go on for another 100 years with no problem, our stone walls are full of these corn husks, I think the Doormice drag them in there. You really need to get the sand blaster to get that deep pitted rust out, I used the cup brush, and a Fartool roller brush like you have, but unless you treat the iron with Phosphoric acid to stop the rust it will come back under the paint, I used my sand blaster only yesterday and it gave excellent results, I see your cat loves to ping your bolts all over the floor, I have the same trouble !

Like the way you fixed the legs with a splint and glue noting better than keep it all together if you can. May I ask what kind of insecticide did you use. I'm a new subscriber..
Another good restoration, but. I didn't like the way you restored the busted legs, there should have been more care taken with the splice it looks very poor and it is not up to the standard of the rest of the refab. Otherwise like I say a good restoration. Well done!
Muchas felicidades. 🤙x1,000,000= exito
How did you age the bolts. I assume it was some kind of acid. How long in the chemical? Sometimes I need to get that patina on furniture bolts and screws that sometimes comes my way. Thanks
Another lovely restoration. I love how you try to keep as much of the original item where possible. So few people would have repaired the wood as you did.
And the nut and bolts also...
I would have totally made new legs
nice last name. i have a cousin with your first and last name. used to live in Arkansas

Super boulot!
I have officially subscribed for the cat. The restorations are a great bonus.
Excellent. No music, no talking - just a relaxing restoration. Oh, and I love the ginger cat, we have one just like him!

Great restoration, Your furry boss said you have been slacking off lately but you can get a great repot by feeding more fish lol.

Dude, get ya some box end ratchet wrenches. More secure grip, much faster than open end. A beautiful restoration on this iconic piece of history.
Love watching your restores🙂 beautiful cat!

She was in need of your talent and live provided love that color choice and thank you for the share, Lance & Patrick.

I think I just found my new favourite channel - restoration and cats
Also, corn sheller is what Sean Connery calls his green grocer ;)
This is one of my absolute favorite channels!

I still have one of these, a stove from 1827, a butter chern, an old foot pedal sewing machine that still works from 1916, and some other old devices.
how you enjoy life!
crafting, restoring
nature, animals, flowers : )
Un trabajo encantador. Realmente eres uno de los Buenos Hombres. Que el Señor te bendiga.
Can it be belt driven via the flywheel?
Love the separation of the corn cobs, I thought they were milled too, but they came out clean an empty, wow...
8-)
Great job, love the cat and the stop motions!
:-D
Thanks for keeping the legs. Restoration means to keep old parts on any cost, and you did this well.
Brilliant! And the only things you replaced was about 30cm of wood and a few nuts and bolts, that’s what you call a restoration.
Imranasmi
You are an artist, good sir.
That's a beautiful Tom Cat!

Bravo, parfait.
Beautiful job as usual! Great special effects! 😁
Excellent restorations from Uruguay.
Magnifique!!!
Buen trabajo.. Saludos desde Costa Rica..

You painted everything up, but you should have put new wooden legs on it, but well done, (from Australia)
