13/13. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend landing an a real grass field. It feels radically different than asphalt. Not just the landing, but the takeoff, too!
Practice keeping that front wheel off the ground as long as possible whenever you can, even during a normal landing. It’s fun, and makes you proficient during actual soft field landings which most of us don’t see too often.
13/13. I recommend practicing keeping the front wheel off the ground as long as possible whenever you can during normal landings, so you’ll be good at it during actual soft field landings which many of us don’t experience too often.
13-4-13, always learning something, especially to ending with taxi clarification. Sometimes depending on what you’re doing, you need to stop, think and listen, then proceed.
I had an engine failure at 2,000 feet AGL. I successfully made a soft field landing. I am grateful that I had a great instructor who pushed me past the standard. As we all know- we practice the procedure on pavement and there is no requirement to do so on a real soft field. However, my instructor expects more. After he was comfortable with my skills on pavement, we went to a nearby airfield with a SF. He had me do 2 with him on board then he got out and made me do 8 more. During dual training I did two more. I completed my PPL and would do some time building cross country flights. If my route would take me near a SF I would do one or two. During my dead stick landing I completed my 18 SF landing. Please take this skill seriously!
13 4 13. Best soft field training was from an Instructor I only flew with once ( lot of change over going on at the school at that time ). We landed, and did a 5000’ wheels down the main runway. Front wheel never touched. Soft wheel take off as well. Great learning for throttle control, while staying center with feet. Lots going on there, but a memorable lesson. Staying off radio till clear is also good technique, especially when it’s a complex taxi instruction - I recall, recently, screwing up readback 3 times it was so complex - couldn’t write due to taxiing with crosswind - should have requested Progressive Taxi.
Thirteen for thirteen! Consider going to a gliderport, flying the glider... many gliderports operate off grass or dirt runways. Well done, sirs! Jer/ Eberhard, Ft Collins Colorado Mountain Flying Aviation, LTD.
13 for 13. Good view of how to hold that nose, even if your doing a routine landing, sometimes you loose feeling of that nose gear and you may end slaming it down.
13 for 13. The communication tip at the end was excellent sometimes it happens you’re not even on the ground and the controller is telling you get off the runway.
Also I must say I love the radio communication because I feel like sometimes it’s frowned upon to slow it down get the diagram write it down and get it correct
Verbalizing the Stable APH would help Students..On down wind Adjust power,Trim for AS,,point of touch down 1 notch flaps[nose down] trim 45* off end of runway turn [know wind direction] turn another notch trim AS line up[make adjustments XW etc] you got the idea….13/13 85 CFII Ya”ll are GR8
I have landed on grass, gravel. concrete, pavement, I have even landed on snow. I guess the about the only time I was kinda scared was landing on wet grass and taking off, I guess we was more Alert to the field being that wet and soggy we knew we didn't have enough runway to take off.
13 for 13 - that stand by was the best part!

Yep.
13 for 13! @MzeroA Flight Training, beautifully executed soft-field Lang! I _do_ love those soft-field rollout wheelies, right??? 😊
13 for 13. The standby call was perfect. Focusing on AVIATING first.
13/13. Soft field landings can definitely make your normal landings better too. Good practice with ground effect

Excellent example on having ATC stand by. Well done!
13 for 13. Love the communication tip as well at the end.
13 for 13 from Hungary 🇭🇺 most of the airfields in Hungary are soft field, I probably have less than 10 landings on paved runways (116h PPL holder)

I haven't done a soft field landing yet, but study everything I can find. Great video!
13/13 Evan and Colleen in frigid Wisconsin (5 below F) no soft field till spring. Great video, keep them coming.
Lucky 13/13 - keeping it going!!!
13/13. Currently working on short and soft field landings/takeoffs. Getting close to being check ride-ready. Thanks.

13 for 13! You guys are doing great!
13 for 13. Never had atc standby before. Great insight!
13 for 13: 11 or 29...same pavement. Loved the video!!
13 for 13. Great learning nugget on having ATC standby with the complex taxi instructions, sent quickly while still on the rollout . Aviate first.
13 for 13. Great video!

13/13 but got behind a few days and caught up - real grass fields make a great impression during learning
13 for 13. Good job!

13 for 13! Thanks for the info!
13/13. Always helpful to see real flying.
13 for 13. The communication tip at the end was excellent sometimes it happens you’re not even on the ground and the controller is telling you get off the runway.
13/13 looking forward to a real soft field!
13 for 13. Haven't done this lesson yet. Great tips
13/13. When a soft field landing vid turns into a complicated taxi instructions vid!!
Love doing soft field landings in a grass strip
13 for 13. Thank you.
Question: What happens when you add skis to the landing gear? Landing on ice or snow. Now, do you legally need airplane single engine sea rating?
13 for 13! Thanks!!!
13 for 13. Great video
13/13 good impromptu actions!
13/13!
Love the Nuggets
13-4-13 I mostly fly off of pavement, but love being able to land on turf whenever able.
13 for 13 - I didn't even know we're allowed to tell ATC to stand by. Always learning!
13/13 - learning every day
13x13! 🎉🎉
13/13 loving it
Also I must say I love the radio communication because I feel like sometimes it’s frowned upon to slow it down get the diagram write it down and get it correct

My flight instructor told me he wanted to feel the tires tickling the grass

I've had to tell tower to "standby" a couple times too 😆

13 for 13. Yes, standby was the best.
13 for 13: soft grass field landing is our standard, in the Foxbat microlight / LSA…you just need to keep cleaning the aircraft bottom 😅
