Marissa and Ryan were pretty good together, but Marissa was always surrounded in drama and caused Ryan a lot of trouble and pain. Ryan and Taylor were such a better and less overly dramatic couple. This scene is so romantic. He swooped in to help her divorce a man she didn't love and kinda swept her off her feet. It is amazing.
Megan Wessels I agree. I feel like a part of Ryan likes the drama, likes the chase at the start of a relationship. Nothing ever comes easy to him and he’s used to that by now. But with Marissa, the drama was never ending. And the drama was toxic also, and too much. You could tell he got tired of constantly taking care of her and her problems. And Marissa never acknowledged her issues, never made any attempt to get better, so there was this huge amount of pressure on Ryan to make everything better. But with Taylor, that was a whole other story. Their drama was funny, interesting, a laugh out loud kind of drama one could look back on nostalgically and endearingly. Taylor had issues, but she actually tried to fix them unlike Marissa, and Ryan encouraged Taylor to let him help her get through them. I think with Marissa it was more of lust/infatuation, because their spark kind of just sizzled after s1 if I’m being honest. By season 3 they seemed like just friends instead of lovers. Ryan and Taylor made such a better match in every possible way. Also Taylor had even more hardships as Marissa, she had an absentee father like Marissa, but she also had no friends, boyfriend, or loving family, like Marissa did. Yet Marissa still hung out with the wrong crowd and went through so many problems, I’m not sure why.
I used to really dislike Marissa but now I empathize with her. She's a product of her upbringing and with Julie and Jimmy as parents, she never stood a chance at a normal childhood. She did however know that she needed to leave Newport and Ryan so I wish she had that opportunity. Marissa and Ryan were kind of toxic, their relationship always pulled him back to his worst tendencies. His relationship with Taylor, on the other hand, drew him out of his comfort zone and brought out the best in him. I love these two so much.
I never really liked Marissa. She were spoiled, dramatic and always got involved with some idiot guy. Taylor and Ryan were a way better couple than Ryan and Marissa. They have chemistry, something that Ryan and Marissa, as a couple, never had.
Just recently started this show and I thought Marissa was cool at the beginning but they just threw her character in the garbage. She never really did anything to make Ryans life better it was usually all about her, meanwhile all he did was try to make hers better. Taylor is a much better fit.
I didn't really like Taylor as a character, but man, she and Ryan had amazing chemistry. This scene alone gives me the hots lol Maybe their storyline is just more interesting. Marissa matched Ryan only in the first season, but as she got older and more messed up, her vibe kinda didn't go well with Ryan. She then had better chemistry with Kevin, who was more messed up than she, so it was like she could save him or something.
@sportfreak1793 Personally, I think Marissa and Ryan had no chemistry whatsoever. Maybe in the first season they did. And also I believe that Autumn is way better actress than Misha, who made Marissa plain and extremely annoying.
@RemyCoolX I'm french and i can also say that he speak french like a frenchman (no accent in all the french sentences that i heard in all his appearences) ;) no american accent in it, but yes, he also has a very good american prononciation :)
