- Welcome to another Cyberpunk 2077 video. Today We received another update to the game which included quite a bit of changes. One of the biggest changes what with the various boss fights you have throughout the main story. Adam Smasher was always kind of a push over, seeing how many players are very overpowered by the end of the game, so it was nice to get this revamp. He's still kind of a push over, but at least its a bit more fun this time. Thanks for watching :D
So the comments made me think it was a minor upgrade. I go ahead and jump to the secret ending again, very hard of course. Didn’t struggle before. Smasher would be dead in under 15 seconds. This time he wiped me 3 times and the 4th time was a several minute long fight that demanded I stayed on my toes. His sandevistan actively challenged mine so I wasn’t able to just press my key and spam left click to win. This was a fantastic improvement. Well done.

@@ImAgentKbeat him easily second try just spamming Erebus, my highest do’s gun, actively running from him and grenadine his ass, get cloaking tech and using relic from PL sneak up on him, most of my effects were time slowing including: Kerenzikov, apogee, reflex tuner and a few others, the robots that spawn on don’t fear the reaper killed me the first time but a single grenade kills all of em. Slow time, get away, molest with high dps, repeat (first play through very hard)
@@PufflePufflePuffle I know I could beat him in very hard as well now, I got myself a netrunner and just be clicking and killing people easily, I do struggle still against max tac though, but everything else on very hard is easy and it feels like I'm playing on normal, and I got Erebus now as well, quite a power gun.

Considering originally he could die in less than 10 seconds and under 20 seconds in the 2.0 update, they really did a massive improvement

IMO V being able to take down Smasher so easily just shows that they are on an entirely different level compared to David who was a mid level Edgerunner at best

I think it would be a lot more intimidating if when he activated his sandy during yours he would just begin to move normally
he still kinda does, it may not look like it but i saw smasher use his sandy and was moving around the same as walking speed, though this guy was using the falcon which isnt the fastest sandy so
@@eliteshadowboiiit does not matter which tech you get in terms of Sandy...he WILL match your speed actually. Coming from the fact that he has one of the rarest and the best Sandy implanted that the fancy Saka fucks cannot even afford for every manpower.

@@lemmy154 No he doesn't. What I'm explaining here is him just attacking in normal speed not repeating his sande movements in slower motion. It just doesn't make sense that he still moves slower than you in while you are both in Sande mode.

I love how he went from one of the easiest bosses I’ve ever seen to almost cinematic on how fast he moves
He actually counters Sandevistan! Thats honestly a good improvement.
His health and damage output has been increased substantially, on top of what was added and done to Smasher over the last few years of updates, and has a new extra phase in his boss fight.
He's also alot more aggressive in terms of movement. This is a much better fight than the original, and GOD LIKE compared to 1.0.
People are expecting this to be almost like a dark souls boss, but with how broken you can become in the game that's not really going to happen, but it's very good and a genuinely fun challenging boss now.
He also can counter quickhacks

Cyberpunk feels more like Devil May Cry than Dark Souls, a game that's about showing off, being cool, not about fighting for your life in every encounter, and for that, this fight fits that feeling.
yeah plus he'll one shot max level characters on very hard and is alot more aggressive.

it’s difficult to balance a boss around a game with such a wide variety of potential character builds
but i think they’ve done a pretty decent job of accounting for a good ballpark of player choices in this new version of the fight
@Garland846 Um, no? Combat Netrunning is very different to what Lucy or Songbird do, there is a dialogue check to explain this in the phantom liberty expansion. Lucy is also relatively poor and likely can’t afford a top tier cyberdeck (I think a graphic in the show displays her having 8 RAM or so).
But besides that, both Lucy and Songbird are ‘full-dive’ netrunners who are at their best when jacked into a proper external netrunning rig (or in So Mi’s case, she IS the rig due to being full-Borg). That’s why they have the back of their neck replaced with a connection port.
High Int V isn’t a better overall netrunner, but can definitely be a specialist in combat quickhacks that is better than them in this one area and so can affect Smasher. Remember, Lucy got one-shot by Kiwi so she isn’t some sort of cyber-god who is great at all types of netrunning.
I fought him yesterday, and it would seem pretty easy to cheese him with a Netrunner build and Optical Camo. Go to Overclock, hit him with System Collapse, shoot him while he's stunned. Then activate optical camo and hide while your Overclock recharces. Rinse and repeat. The minions can be dealt with Cyberpsychosis so they're not a big problem.
@Garland846Lucy isn't a better netrunner, probably had a outdated cyberware and no iconic daemons, while being oneshotted by Kiwi, that is able to load only one synapse burnout and them die waiting the ram to recover, while V can just spam burnout synapse indefinitely.
@@rakshithanand8262 Lore wise, songbird is supposed to be the most powerful netrunner in the game.
She is the only one capable enough to go past the blackwall and using the rogue ai multiple times (who are literally eldritch gods), is full borg with the best hardware you can possibly make (the president's weapon so yea), has the best FIA combat netrunner training, can somehow hack into your relic, etc
I remember watching a stream on twitch where someone from CDPR said that V and so mi linked together essentially become the most powerful beings on the planet for that brief moment.
Seeing as you both can down a NUSA spec ops attack helicopter in a single shot (with better defensive ICE than smasher has), and V couldnt even dent it with that railgun sniper... jeez yea, actual demigods
They made the level design more useful by making him more aggro
the problem I have, which is just a flaw of the entire games combat and not this fight, is that melee builds are overpowered, enemies can't dodge melee attacks or negate them, they should have made it so that at the very minimum, bosses can block melee attacks or have a risk of them just hitting you through them and knocking you over aswell doing an animated grab/takedown move that leaves you low health if you're within melee range, because lets be real here, smasher would just pick you up by the throat and crush your skull if you were just slapping him with a butter knife non stop the whole fight until he's eventually dead
Enemies can dodge regular melee attack if they're strong enough but with Sandevistan activated almost every opponent in CyberPunk is slower than you by several times. How are they supposed to dodge melee attacks then?

Precisely but no game has the Gaul to make a paced combat system that’s realistic like that, the only one being fighting games but then again his sandevistan in combination with his hyper armoured jabs with automatic projectile fire
At level 50 with maxed out stats and gear, every build is broken.

He hits a bit harder and is way tankier, but he's really not much harder. CDPR lied about his new difficulty.
Play it on very hard, it’ll be a better experience than what the video is showing
@@Paragon231they didn't lie, they increased his fight to be more like "a boss fight" which it's now memorable and fun they know and Said on stream that one shot builds and op builds will continue to happen and you can't stop that, smasher can now counter your sandevistan and is more aggressive, and if you use netrunning abilities he counters you on that too, what did you expect a dark souls boss? Gtfo with that stuff, this game is meant to have fun, and feel what it's like to be a powerful cyberware junkie, and it definitely shows that well enough

This was a great update now he actually matches the build up he got.
Got dayum. He actually reacts to V's attacks defensively with his own Sandevistan and equal reaction time. I honestly would like to see him get faster with every limb lost (like his RAM and CPU have more ability for the rest of his body.) But this is leagues better than what he used to be. Cant wait to play it!
Finally, he lives up to his own hype.
I think it also needs be considered how ridiculous over leveled people are when facing him. CCP probably needs to balance him also for people who are not max level with all iconic tier 5+++ gear
Dude is also using God mode here as well.. so yeah on very hard even at lcl 60 he's very difficult
The only wonky bit I saw with the new version is at 4:47 when his get-up animation takes a little too long, but by then, most of the fighting went off without a hitch. I really like Smasher in general I'm glad they touched up on him again.
At that point he's basically incapacitated and his armour is exploded off of him so it makes sense he can barely get up. It only takes a little hit after that to knock him down for good
Finally they made him somewhat resemble how strong he actually is. In the TTRPG, he's one of if not THE strongest enemy in the entire game.
In the TTRPG isnt he the basically who’s sent out to END the game

The only thing I would've loved to have is for Smasher to have some actual resistance to your sandevistan, or him having an attack sequence in which he uses his for a good few seconds instead of dashing around in it, because it is way too easy to outrun him imo, which makes the bossfight way more manageable and less threatening than it should have been.
He does.. dude is on a low difficulty and on God mode..
I wonder why they never went back and did this for Eredin in Witcher 3 since even then the community felt like the final boss of the Wild hunt was too easy 😂
Easy, everyone said the game was perfect so they didn't feel the need to tweak to the same extent as CP2077. They added the expansions, sure, but that's added content, not fixed old content, which is basically what the 2.0 and 2.1 updates are. Still, I haven't forgiven them for trying to scam us with an unfinished game in PC and the downright unplayable versions of PS4 and Xbox One, so I will pirate it when I get a good enough PC to run the thing, cus even after the 2.1 the optimization is not the best (and before anyone says anything, the crashes are completely random and, funnily enough, tended to happen when not much was on screen, so it isn't just a "too many things on screen" problem)
I had a third run of the game waiting for one year at the "meet Hanako at embers" point. Everything else in the map clean and done, just for this.
Loving the update, but I hope they fix the bugged finishers. Used to work so fricking well prior to 2.1. Right now, all I keep getting are the quick stabs/swings instead of the brutal takedowns.
being a nethacker and watching adam fucking smasher zooming right up to me in slowed time while i was trying to select the right nethack was scary
Interesting! I have never seen Smasher use the area attack around himself at 3:50. Must be something the AI uses for melee centric builds!

Enemies of Night City Smasher is still way superior use of the Sandy which was faster than the player's not to mention the 1 shot damage + annoying health regen which Smasher should definitely have. Can't wait for the 2.1 update of the mod.
I can't wait to see all the new animations and features when it gets updated. Seeing him carry his HMG was cool in the progress shots.

I knew this section of the mod would still be relevant, they gave him some of the visual fair he needed but he ain't no Souls boss, at least not until the update drops lmao

Adam should be able to keep up with the Sandevistan, break Berserker and be immune to hacks
He can keep up with a sandy but not perfectly and he's resistant to hacks now but can still be hit. Maybe he should have his own berserk he can activate through the fight. So you pop a berserk to get up close and hit him, then he pops his own berserk to make your swings useless.
Him being immune to hacks might make sense in terms of lore, but terrible game design as it would create a really frustrating experience for netrunner players.
@@arkius_2hes immune. Kind of. When you quickhack him, you can see big dmg points, but in reality this dmg is very low due adams enormous resist to quickhacks
I actually prefer the regualr Sandy effect. More like people moving super fast like in the Matrix.
Imo more intimidating as you empty a clip into air as they just dodge 90% of your shots.
I love Edgerunners but I don't think the colorful Sandy trail translates that well into gameplay. Different mediums benefit from different artstyles.
Can't wait until the Enemies of Night City mod is updated to include new animations for Smasher like backflip into quake landing.
I like the idea of a visual colour blur, but they way it was done here makes it look a little bit off, not that it translates poorly to game, just that I think it could've been done a little better
I agree, it def doesn't gel well with the art style for the rest of the game. I understand what they wanted to do, but it just doesn't look right to me. Bothers me ever so slightly.
Enemies of Night City made CP a totally different game. Even normal gang mobs become a threat. Smasher took me hours and had to lower down his health regen. Can't wait for the 2.1 update for that mod.

Ok I’m firing it up tonight when I get home 😂 this looks like a REAL challenge finally.
Before he was challenging and aggressive but now he's like 20x that! He's even more aggressive in his attacks and movements and it's very refreshing!
I would have liked if he does what the MaxTac guy in Phantom Liberty does: Use his Sandi to dodge sword hits and bullets. If he did that he'd be a real threat to fight.

If they really want to make a boss that can completely destroy you, you are actually dead, imagine disable your sandies and dash, slow effect, throw missiles that chase and oneshot, knock you down every move, immune to stun and stagger, etc… there are tons of nonsense stuffs to put on very hard but they didn’t do that. I found it difficult to play veryhard since the beginning until i got my cyberware, died so many times

This was the most underwhelming part of the game for me. The 2nd half of the game was stupidly easy, could just walk into any gunfight and decimate everyone. However I was always thinking, I'm sure the smasher fight will be a challenge. It was over in less than a minute

In all the ways that matter, Cyberpunk Edgerunners has done a HUGE favor, in bringing new fans, new tourist haunts, and now new boss design ideas.

I see the criticisms and the praises here. I myself would like to see it pushed a little bit farther with proper phases of the fight and maybe even some first person cinematic/gameplay interactions where Smasher has you in his grips and launches you across the room. And more repartee, have Smasher criticize your exact build, technique, and weapons.

I'm going to fight him with my fists as he uses the Sandevistan on very hard. He's bender from Futurama,but like fry drinking 100 cups of coffee using it or like Goku using afterimage. Pretty easy once you know where he going to be when he stops and all his typical attacks. Also it depends where you fight him,at mikoshi or arasaka tower on the layout. Wonder if machines can experience fear from "meat",as he mocking calls us.

I kinda wished they (CDPR) made Adam Smasher more like Frank Horrigan from Fallout 2. Both in game play and marketing.
I distinctly remember the game director for Fallout 2 was asked how strong Frank is in Fallout 2, how can he die to the main character. And he said the chosen one can kill Frank because the player needs to be able to beat the game. I wish CDPR had that same approach to Adam Smasher. I doubt CDPR was unaware of how Adam Smasher was portrayed in edgerunners. Most intimidating last second villain, and still it wasn't until half a year later they made it to where you can't instantly kill him. I think Adam should practically be able to counter almost everything V can do, and really put the player to their witts end fighting him
Interesting. When I fought him with my Katana character, he would just cut Adam to pieces. It was almost comical how easy he was. I think the update is a improvement for this encounter.
It was a lot harder than before for sure.... Was a fun fight.. Toughest one tbh

in my experience Adam was a beast. Took me few attempts to beat, cause he always chasing now and forcing to stay on toes. Plus he gives zero fucks about your armor and deletes you in 2-3 hits anyway, plus aside from ice counterhack only system collapse actually does anything against him and gives you room to breathe and deal some damage to him
Of course it’s still « ez » according to some people here, the video is showcasing God mode, the OP isn’t losing any health. He’s ignoring one-shot mechanics like that phase 3 electric explosion.
Try fighting him in hard or very hard without any cheat engine and it’s a pretty difficult boss.
A battle that makes me feel like I'm beating the Adam Smasher from the show. Actual vengeance! ❤️🔥

Just started a new runa nd going netrunner this time. Genuinely worried now hahaha. The way he just comes charging in in itself is intimidating as fuck.
Yeah guess what? I can't beat him with it. He closes the distance over and over and you can't hack him fast enough or do enough damage to him with hacks. Also, lots of that build relies on bonuses from getting kills with hacks, so they're useless.
Only crime is killing smasher without Johnnys gun
I went into this fight as a Netrunner with a really basic secondary blade setup, and basically nothing in terms of agility or tankiness. I relied a lot on blood pump and second heart. Dude would teleport around, one-shot me to death, I'd revive, and he'd one-shot me to death again. My hacks, which absolutely obliterated everything that came before with ease, were practically of no use. Overclock was a death sentence. Cover was nonexistent. I spent 90 minutes throwing myself into the meat grinder before finally putting the difficulty from hard down to easy, and even on easy it was just as difficult as the Oda fight. Outrageous. You need to come at this mamma-jamma with a real coherent anti-boss build, and be good at playing it.
Reminds me of how they reworked the boss fight ins DE Human Revolution DC
I love this game. V is such a fucking badass. I love it when female V and johnny talk at the same time, the contrast in the voices is just dope!
it took me 2 hrs to figure him out haha :D didn't finish the main storyline until 2.1 happened LOL :D this is a fun boss fight hopefully they will increase the difficulty level on other bosses!!

Yeah... massive improvement. I am even more convinced to never go a build that combines sandevistan + katana.
Just pick the lowest slow time %, it's not as broken and still feels fun
@@germanrud9904 yep, usually thats what I do. I preffer that a game does not give those kind of broken option but if they do, at least i try to leave a good amount of room for a good challenge in the max difficulty.
i want a EXTRA agressive mode for cyberpunk that makes the ai super agressive and filled with more melle enemies

It would be so epic if after enabling Sandevistan Smasher said "A Rudimentary implant" like in Edgerunnes and enabled his own for duration of yours (either moving same speed or even faster).
It would make perfect easter egg and punish players who rely only on implants just like David.

Same. He needs to be at least equal to maxtax or tougher than them. He didn’t seem that hard in hard mode in this new update. Didn’t make me struggle like those maxtax. He needs to be more tough than that as a final boss.

Theyve gotta balance tank/solo builds. Mine can have a full maxtec squad and 20 cops on me, standing still, and health wont drop below 100
