I just registered for the PTEC program at the local community collage in my city. And the pay after your graduate is anywhere from $60,000 to $80,000. But that's with the associates degree. I am in Louisiana and upon graduation I want to move to California to work at a Energy plant. Plus I have a bachelors degree in social services.
If you get into a major refinery as a process operator believe me you will easily be making over 6 figures base pay and if you like your over time you can reach 200k a year. But you have to be ready to take in a great amount of processing information regarding reactors, process vessels, fractionators, heat exchangers, different types of electrical, electromagnetic signal instrumentation , different types of pump systems...
Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania are all in a huge Natural Gas Booms. Utica and Marcellus Shale is more plentiful in these 3 states than all of Saudi Arabia. And Natural Gas is clean gas. Take a look at these 3 companies. 1. MarkWest Energy 2. Access 3. Caiman Energy. These 3 companies are always hiring. Pay is between $20 an hour up to $40 an hour... And lots of OT !
In a few weeks I have an interview with Exxon Mobil for an Internship at the Baytown Olefins Plant. What questions do you think they will ask? I know of some. I'm guessing they will not go into troubleshooting questions about equipment. I think they will stick with behavioral questions like, "have you ever worked with someone unpleasant?" Why Exxon Mobil? Why should we hire you? Etc. What questions should I ask? Any help or tips would be appreciated.

@striblingbridget i will tell you first hand (i shot this video and spoke in depth with all of these people) that its as viable a career as ANYTHING out there. even if the entire economy were to collapse. id bet these would be the last jobs remaining. contact the folks at GCPTA. they can provide more stats. gcpta dot org

Im interested in this career but at the same time nervous about it...can anyone help me who is already in this career..
Is a certificate enough to land a job? I heard from alot of people to get a degree....
Crissyloves Literotica A career certifcate wouldnt be enough to land a part time book keeper or payroll position?
Thanks for the advice. Best regards
+VWGTI You can land a job with a certificate, but the degree holds more weight.
IMO, get the degree.
