Finally a photoshop tutorials channel that doesnt show just "how to change the color of eyes". That's a real good tutorial, simple but effective. Congrats, for real. I'll share with all my young art director friends in Brazil.
I saw this as a tutorial bringing forward some amazing techniques... not so much about this specific pic. As for the Pic, yes indeed, it was hilarious - but that is strength of Aaron, how he never fails to amuse even as he teaches wonderful techniques! :-)
Ye, I agree with other reviewers. The original was more natural, the final was a bit sureal. However, the technique was interesting and a watered down version may have given more of a punch.
Spectacular video thanks! And thank you for not talking slow and not dumbing it down :) There is a video speed option on RUclips for a reason, guys and gals.
Your photoshop tutorials are the best thing online. Enthusiasm, fun and enjoyment just come pouring out the screen. I only found you 1 week ago and i am totally hooked. Your tutorials have helped me so much . Thank you. Keep up the good work...
To all who say :"The original photo was better" - this is a photoshop tutorial, that teaches you how you use tools in photoshop. If you are not interested in learning anything, WHY are you watching the video? Just to leave annoying comments? and if you are learning something than what is the point to compare images??? Everyone has a different teste, this video is not about damn comparison...
This will probably sound too cheesy, but your tutorials pretty much changed my life- they are beyond amazing. I have one question: does it make sense to do both focus stacking and exposure bracketing to get one final image with both sharpness and dynamic range? something like- shooting 3 exposures in each of three images done in respectively close focus, a mid-range focus, and an infinity focus (total 9 images) and merge them into one final photo?
I have watched everything Aaron has put up on RUclips and this is, far and away, the coolest one. While I also find the processed version a bit overcooked, particularly in the green and red channels, the approach is general and can be applied as you see fit
Perfect tutorial to give my nature shots that extra oomph! Keep the fast talking tutorials coming! Hint for all those saying he speaks too fast: there is a pause button. Also knowing just the basics of masks, adjustments, lighting, etc....would help. If you are new to relatively new to PS or photography, I would recommend taking some beginner tutorials first before complaining.
Thank u so much for your techniques, it doesn´t matter if the result was very well applied in this particular pic, the most important is when to apply the technique. Regards.
This is an absolutely awesome workflow. Something nearly every landscape photographer should be using, even if you're using filters at camera. Definitely going to revisit my photos. Thank you for posting this!
With some of the photohraphy comments Im thinking some folks just like to complain. Im unsure how greater knowledge can be seen as negative. Keep lessons coming. Im a learner
There's some dumb comments here. This is a tutorial guys. It's all about the techniques and not the artistic merits of the final image. I learnt a lot so thanks Phlearn.
Whew, thank God for shadows, highlights, clarity and HSL, in Lightroom. Wonderful image and tutorial, but you could achieve practically the same thing, in Lightroom in less than a minute and it's lossless.
You do 'pack so much' info into the allotted time. I have to agree with some of the other commenters, when they mention that you might be talking a bit fast for many of us. The good thing is, is that this is not a DVD, or video tape, so it is not a problem to just drag the time indicator back to the frame that needs to be reviewed. So, it's 'all good' to me. You bring up techniques that I have wanted to learn about. I take many, landscape photos, and have some pictures of a secluded road with tall trees close together on each side of the street, similar to this, only the trees are very tall, eucalyptus, that grow straighter. Anyway, I appreciate the lesson...My first look at a 'Phlearn'. I will have to come back many times, to get some of it to 'sink in', so it's really learned....I want to get a 'Lightroom 5', pretty soon, but for now, just have PS Elements 5, and have not spent much time getting familiar with it. I know it does layers, but need to spend more time learning how to use different layers together correctly, and not sure if Elements 5 has inversion, black layer mask, or anything like the "curves adjustment layer" Any idea if an older version PS Elements 5. from 2007 or so, has those three layer features? Thanks.
Agee Fabrizio but it can be dissected and used in many ways for different images and effects. In the end group it and but a black mask on the group and just choose what you like. Its a tool for tweeking. (See my comment.)
A lot of us prefer the original image but that's not important. What is important is the techniques he showed... And he's exaggerating (on a highly compressed jpeg nonetheless without good bit depth and with a lot of bad compression) so we can SEE what he's doing better.
I have watched many of your videos and learnt more about Photoshop from you then anyone else so, imo you are indeed a Master Of Photoshop. But on this occasion this video only showed your in-depth knowledge of "getting stuff done". It was a great tutorial in Photoshop techniques. But I have to agree with many others, the original looked better than the final product. Just my opinion. But still great to learn many of the layer techniques you use.
This was a great tutorial on HOW TO combine multiple exposures, whether people like the results or not. AND... no need to slow down. Technology is beautiful... there is a PAUSE button. I followed along on one of my own landscape shots and learned a LOT. Thank you so much for taking the time to teach!
That's stunning Aaron, cuz I knew all of this technics like working with the curves or the high pass. But I've NEVER think to use it in this process for a landscape. So a BIG THANK YOU, Your tutorial really help me to improve my skill. :)
Thank you for this crucial video that can be dissected and used in many ways for different images and effects. True that it does not work for every imaged but bits and pieces can be applied. I see myself coming back to this video many times Aron.
Great high paced, high energy tutorial on Photoshop with some more advanced tools. I have used all of these methods, but it is interesting to see them brought together and used in this way.
man, am I the only one that goes back to his older videos and notice hes shopped himself. long-haired, bearded, nervous dude to sharp-looking, clean-shaven, more confident guy. haha, still one of the best tutorial youtubers out here tho
This was an OUTSTANDING tutorial. I learned so much. In addition to learning the mechanics, it also allows for a great deal of latitude in just how much or how little to make these adjustments. I watch many of your tutorials and they are excellent and greatly appreciated. My sincerest thanks. :-)
That was good dude i actually learned 2 things out that, 1 what you were trying to accomplish and the other how to get that overall blur effect which i really love in forest scapes like a paint effect..i like your work a lot
great video, can you say what the commands are for windows users as there isn't a command button. e.g. to get the stamp visible layer (shift+ctrl+alt+e).
+Joanna R-Wallis Thank you so much! I was banging my head on that part. I did what he said and everything just merged together. I'm glad another knowledgeable person is paying attention. :)
Thanks for the tutorial very helpfull!!! BTW, can you tell me what camera did you used in filming your self in this video? What type lens? Because I'm planning to buy a camera good for video.. Thanks again!
Hello. I subscribed to your channel a few months ago and love the content and teaching style. Supreme mastery of Photoshop and great skill in conveying complex concepts. Thanks much!
I wish that the negative comments folks would look at what you can learn. No it is not for all but great lesson and techniques that can be helpful in different areas......just wish you would not talk so fast. Thanks so much :-)
HSL is limitate to 8 colors, working with color range is more precise. it's the same for the shadows and highlights, you can do (and I do a lot in LR) but when I want more control I go to PS (I always combine LR and PS).
Gotta say, I preferred the original. What it so powerful about this image are the light beams. After processing, the focus on the light is diminished somewhat by the decreased range between the highlights and shadows, and more emphasis is put on color. The tips are useful, but I would have gone about it differently. Such is art.
I like both. The original is photoshoped already. The second one looks more mystical as in fairy tales... for me. It depends what author wants to show us and what you want to see. Both are beautiful! The choice is yours :) P.S. just learn the techniques and create however you like
deja el photoshop un rato y comete una empana de chicharron maestro !, as always the best tutorials on youtube, thanks a lot Aaron to share your knowledge and time with us.
Great work, Love the editing. The only thing I would like is for you to speak a little slower for those of us that are new to all this technical terms and use windows and the commands are a little different.
Thanks for the great video. Really enjoy it and have watched this video about a dozen times! I'm not understanding the curves for the highlights and shadows. You first create the layer that brings up the shadows, then the layer that lowers the highlights. But you use the background layer for both. Since you put the background copy layer above the shadow curves layer you just created to create the lower highlights layer don't you loose the modifications to the shadow layer? Shouldn't you use the shadow layer as a base for your highlights layer? Any help you could give me to understand this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Thanks. It was a awesome to watched the all transitions. The photo was well executed in the first place, but there is lot of photos wich need improvement. Your tutorial was very helpful.
我是photoshop爱好者,我很喜欢看你的photoshop视频教程,因为在中国大部分的photoshop教程都是教大家怎么做,而你在教大家怎么做的同时有讲为什么这么做,这是我非常喜欢的
Finally a photoshop tutorials channel that doesnt show just "how to change the color of eyes". That's a real good tutorial, simple but effective. Congrats, for real. I'll share with all my young art director friends in Brazil.
You do some awesome work in Photoshop but in this case you started with the perfect pic. Nowhere to go but down.
i think the original looked better, but thats just my personal taste
+Darren Redd totally agree
Couldn't agree more. The picture got ruined.
Darren Reddy I also agree but also learnt some very useful techniques for working with lights and darks etc.

whether or not you like the results. The delivery and techniques are excellent! 5 stars!
Ye, I agree with other reviewers. The original was more natural, the final was a bit sureal. However, the technique was interesting and a watered down version may have given more of a punch.
The "original" was already photoshopped
Happy to see my image used in such a popular tutorial. Awesome job Aaron and thanks again.
Stunning!!
So far one of your best shots Michael!
Although he's a great retoucher and I'm a big fan of him but to be honest he ruined your image :/
Abdullah Suleiman, Thanks...I think it was only for the purpose of demonstration of a technique anyway. I agree that I prefer my original by far.
I saw this on Phlearn. Nice work
Totally agree with all the comments here, the original photo is absolutely stunning...
Spectacular video thanks! And thank you for not talking slow and not dumbing it down :)

I really like the phase, damn. A 14 min video with as much information as an hour vid. This imo was great

Wonderful tutorial! I have found, almost ten years old gem, tutorial and it still rocks with educational value. Artistic, too. Thanks!
This will probably sound too cheesy, but your tutorials pretty much changed my life- they are beyond amazing.

WOW, Aaron - sensational!! You are so fast, so charming and very inspiring!
Thank you for such a clear tutorial. Yes it was fast but that is what God made the pause and rewind buttons for. I have subscribed.
Thank u so much for your techniques, it doesn´t matter if the result was very well applied in this particular pic, the most important is when to apply the technique. Regards.

after editing it looks more mysterious, like a scene from a fairytale. Although the original photo is great. Thank you, nice tut.
No no no! Why did you do that to such a lovely photo.
To teach people. Duh
Whew, thank God for shadows, highlights, clarity and HSL, in Lightroom. Wonderful image and tutorial, but you could achieve practically the same thing, in Lightroom in less than a minute and it's lossless.
I appreciate that you always tell us the short cuts you are using! I learned some new ones. I need to use the cures adjustment panel more. Thanks
so many multiple exposure tutorials.. you made it looked so easy. thanks Aaron!

Don't slow down! Awesome tutorial.
Thanks for this. I watched it with a slower playback speed. very calming and satisfying. :)
I do prefer a lot more the original image actually, it's more natural!
Fabrizio Cimò I agree 100%...
Fabrizio Cimò Some people, including me, really enjoy the fairy-tale-like effect, though. There's a time and place for everything, I suppose.
Agee Fabrizio but it can be dissected and used in many ways for different images and effects. In the end group it and but a black mask on the group and just choose what you like. Its a tool for tweeking. (See my comment.)

Awesome stuff Aaron. I just bought 2 tutorials in one day. Well worth the money. Phlearn 101 and the compositing pack. Can't wait to jump right in.
Thank you for this crucial video that can be dissected and used in many ways for different images and effects. True that it does not work for every imaged but bits and pieces can be applied. I see myself coming back to this video many times Aron.
Hey david0ff!
Stamp visible (shift+cmd(ctrl)+alt+E), basically creates a stamp of the visible layers into a new copy of pixels.
Hi Aaron,
Awesome tutorial. By the way, do you have Source File for practise. Thanks
Great high paced, high energy tutorial on Photoshop with some more advanced tools. I have used all of these methods, but it is interesting to see them brought together and used in this way.
If you want to take your landscape photography to the next level then go here now: HootLand.xyz
Thanks Aaron for your tutorial, I am learning a lot about photoshop. Thanks again!
Awesome tutorial buddy. Thank you. For the record I reckon your manipulation is far more impressive than the original.
I really appreciate you taking the time to do this tutorial and all the rest. I've learned a lot from you. Thank you very much.
This tutorial is AMAZING. Lightroom spoiled me and I had never got to learn how to do those things on PS.
Best Phlearn tutorial yet :) Thanks as always for making
man, am I the only one that goes back to his older videos and notice hes shopped himself. long-haired, bearded, nervous dude to sharp-looking, clean-shaven, more confident guy. haha, still one of the best tutorial youtubers out here tho
superb and one of the best tutorial i have seen on youtube
Incredible tutorial. This has taken my workflow to a new level. Many thanks!!
Crazy skills as usual. Picked up so much from watching your vids. Takes a while but you pretty much ninja it.
Awsome tutorial, thanks you for sharing. You knew how to do it and also how to teach it others understandably.
This was an OUTSTANDING tutorial. I learned so much. In addition to learning the mechanics, it also allows for a great deal of latitude in just how much or how little to make these adjustments. I watch many of your tutorials and they are excellent and greatly appreciated. My sincerest thanks. :-)
Thank you! Great tutorial. Who would have thought I still have that much to learn in PS, but great fun finding new tricks and techniques out!
You have a lot of excellent videos, but this time I find the "before" photo to be better than the altered version!
what's difference between selective color and simple color selection. as you did in great tutorial.
This guy is a genius.
: Compliments!!! That was a hell of a tutorial!!! You've just saved me hours of working! Thanks!!!
That was good dude i actually learned 2 things out that, 1 what you were trying to accomplish and the other how to get that overall blur effect which i really love in forest scapes like a paint effect..i like your work a lot
Amazing video!!! I'm learning so much thanks to you.
Thank you for the video. I see that I have a lot to learn about photoshop
but anyway, Thank you very much
This is a great tutorial! Loved the reference to Bob Ross; he was a great artist!
great video, can you say what the commands are for windows users as there isn't a command button. e.g. to get the stamp visible layer (shift+ctrl+alt+e).

Thanks for the education Aaron. Your knowledge is amazing!
You're the man! Absolutely everything I need to know on this channel, you deserve so much more views. Keep it up! You just got my sub
Great vid. Beautiful image. Thank GOD for Lightroom.
Very helpful, showed lots of tricks inside tricks!
WONDERFUL !!! THANKS AARON
Thanks Aaron!!! This was great!!!
wore me out keeping up and converting mac to pc commands but I LOVE the tutorial.
Hello. I subscribed to your channel a few months ago and love the content and teaching style. Supreme mastery of Photoshop and great skill in conveying complex concepts. Thanks much!
Very great tutorial. Very helpful. Thanks!
I like the original image, but I like what I've learnt.
I thought the same thing! the first one is fantastic. Don't see a lot of extreme dynamic range to warrant it being HDR'd out.
Minding blowing !!!
I wish that the negative comments folks would look at what you can learn. No it is not for all but great lesson and techniques that can be helpful in different areas......just wish you would not talk so fast. Thanks so much :-)

Another fine example of having the tech and not knowing when or how to use it.
I like the result cos it's between fantasy and reality :-) Thank you for tutorial
fabulous tutorial, will definitely incorporate this into my work. Thank you.
Great technique, I'll give it a go later, thanks for the tutorial.
You are amazing... Aaron! Thanks
ths...your tutorials are really helpfull..ths Phil you are the master...

太精彩無比了!讚讚讚!^^
Great tutorial, thanks
it's great to learn from you! thanks for another wonderful tutorial :)
deja el photoshop un rato y comete una empana de chicharron maestro !, as always the best tutorials on youtube, thanks a lot Aaron to share your knowledge and time with us.
Might be looking a bit fake, however he has taught great photoshop tips. A great tutorial a would say, especially working with a JPGE file
Great tutorial. Really took it to the next level by covering how to add more depth and detail to a picture. Thanks
Awesome tut!!!! You get a big thumbs up :D
Great work, Love the editing. The only thing I would like is for you to speak a little slower for those of us that are new to all this technical terms and use windows and the commands are a little different.
amazing thanks i will purchase your tutorials soon waiting for money haaa & thank you again i have learn alot from your tutorials

thank god for this guy!!!!
Great Tutorial! Thankyouuu!!! About to try this out right now..
Great tutorial, very cool techniques.
I came across this video and if I hadn't heard your voice, I would not have recognised you, Aaron Nace
So I definitely liked the original better, but I appreciate learning the techniques. I can apply those when I need them later.
