I really like your style of instructing and appreciate your professionalism. You made this PS technique a lot easier to learn by taking the time to explain each piece, not just click and do. Thank you for sharing your expertise!

I teach this software and I know how difficult it can be to properly explain what it is you are doing as well as why you are doing it. This was a professional presentation. I have seen many where I cannot understand the instructor, because of talking to fast, lack of clear speech, and other verbal issues. Even though this video is a few years old and Photoshop has really grown a lot, the tips and advice are still good and valuable. Thanks for that. Well done.
Shot in the dark that you read this... What kind of camera did you use in the external shots of you at the desk? I saw the FAQ and the models you choose from. But I want to know what *this* tutorial was filmed with. The quality is so fantastic. I love when people know *everything* about an application like this. I know Fireworks the way you know Photoshop. The video is excellent and I learned a lot from it. Thank you - please let me know about the camera if possible.
Wow - thank you! Great quality content and fantastic video quality (or, cinematography, if the term fits). Thank you for the response and for the great tutorial.
Thanks again for working on my photo. For everyones information, I was about 16 when I took this photo and was obviously very new to photography. I saved up and bought an Alien bee b800 on craigslist. I used it, as well as natural backlighting in this photo with my Canon T1i and 50mm 1.8. The ultimate beginner set up. Anyways, I actually removed two cars from this photo, and didn't even notice the trash can. I still love this photo because it was from my first "successful" photoshoots andI am grateful to Phlearn because over 3million people have seen it! or 1million people watched it 3 times, Idk. But thanks for everyone, and I am glad this photo is being used to teach photo peeps all over. -framedfinalboss Dezmen Young.
Nice one. I've been following you for almost two years, and I have to say you're awesome dude, you rock the Photoshop, a lot of techniques of design thanks to you.

Thank you so much. I'm a photographer working on a print order and this really helped. I got it done myself and didn't have to send it to my lab. I've watched several tutorials of yours - they are awesome!
Great tutorial! Just one little suggestion - It would be very helpful if you can also provide us with the link of the image that you are using in each tutorial so we can practise accordingly :)
Your videos have been immensely useful for my job, I am a photographer for an RV company...and I'm quite an amateur (I photograph parts....they don't need to be pristine photos). However, I am taking this opportunity to learn more about photography and to make my photos the best quality that I can. Thank you for your help!
Sorry if this is a little off-topic maybe, but after seeing some of your videos I'm definitely thinking about getting a graphics tablet such as the one you're using. Is this a Wacom Intuos tab and would you recommend using a tablet generally for retouching photos over a regular mouse? I'm still not sure if this is worth the money, but seeing you in your workflow ... the years of experience might not be reflected by the use of a graphics tablet, so I need to ask this from your professional point of view :-) Thanks a ton & best regards Tobias
I am not a professional by any stretch, but I purchased a Wacom Intuos Pro graphics tablet all because of Phlearn and I LOVE it! It makes my work flow ten times faster and neater. I really recommend it if you want to make it easier on yourself when editing photos. To be honest, I couldn't even imagine going back to using a mouse! Definitely worth it in my opinion.
I've been working in the design industry for many years now and yes, a Wacom tablet is an indispensable tool to have. I actually feel crippled designing anything without a tablet now. I use it more than I do a mouse. Once you start getting used to it, you'll realize that you can't live without one.
Actually, I found the MS Surface to be a great item. It uses Wacom Technology, and being able to keep your pen and viewing area the same is amazingly helpful. Its more natural, to hold a device, and look and point at the same location. Anyway, Wacom devices are great, but look into their tablets that actually display images (ie 'normal' tablets). (PS, wacom sells android tablets, but they dont allow for photoshop, so avoid them)
+Petersen Totally photoshopped, look closely at her hanging hand ( left hand ). Fullscreen and 1080p it. bottom of it has some of previous picture, and top is glowing; weird lighting.

I've used these tools extensively, and have gotten the job done, but nearly as quickly as you. You're good at this. It just takes a lot of practice to become proficient. Of course, when doing this kind of editing/manipulation, I always use the Wacom tablet. the trick is making your own custom brushes, like "Airbrush Pen Opacity and Flow". These pressure sensitive custom brushes are also great doing retouching, esp fixing the nasty shadows and highlights caused by the harsh lighting of shooting in full sunlight. KUDOS!
What is someone else's opinion about the editing style that was used to edit the female subject. Like how she kind of pops out almost like she was put there in post. I kind of did the same thing and was criticized for it (constructively though). It was a picture a client's truck. I adjusted the background normally then made the truck kind of pop out by adjusting the lighting. Someone said I over adjusted the lighting on the truck. But isn't that the point; to make the subject pop out from the background to be the main attraction? Any opinions?
Ye I was thinking the same thing it's nice to make sometihng poop up a bit but you have to be careful not to do it too much cause it's gon alook like a green screen
I personally think it just makes the photo look weird when the subject pops out like that; the focus and positioning should be enough to draw attention to the subject without adjusting the lighting too much.
RANDOM QUICK TIP: While selected, if you click the mask button, it will create a mask based on the selection. If you put the mask in a group, it will cover all the layers you create inside of it. With this, you don't really need to be hiding the selection and stuff. Great tutorial btw!
+Darkin Blade Hi Darkin Blade, if you go to File/File Info you can find the date and time the image was first created. If you want that displayed on the picture just put a new text layer as the top layer and type in the info. You can't change that original time/date in Photoshop.
Photoshop Tutorials and Tips Exactly. She's been pasted into the picture. You can see it specially on the weird lighting by the edges, and don't even get me started on her left hand.
I cut sections of the image that are the same and past them or stretch them then blend in the edges that way you get the grain of the photo which matches more. Works very well.
Absolutely!!! Lighting and shadows and all off. How is she going to be behind a wall and stay "perfectly" exposed when the sun is clearly at her back due to the position of the shadows hahahahahha
Also the women is actually photo shopped to make it look like she's sitting on the marble slab when in reality she is from another photo. (Can tell cause the lighting)
I really would like to learn how to photoshop.. but it costs so much :/ I'mstill going to school and my dream job would be to do photoshop and stuff (media designer - in german it's "Mediengestalter"). Maybe I'll just crack it^^
that is because the sun isn't facing towards her, it is behind the big statue thing so the shadow from the girl would be covered by the shadow from the statue:)
Didn't work at all, very disappointed. You can still see the pain and agony in my eyes as I'm forced to look at the camera and smile against my own will.
As far as using the brush tool and getting straight lines, simply press the shift key when you choose another point (similar to using the pen tool) and you'll get a straight line between the last point and that one.
I can finally remove my ex from all my pics. Thnks :D

beeter?
And how can i add time and date ???
+Darkin Blade Hi Darkin Blade, if you go to File/File Info you can find the date and time the image was first created. If you want that displayed on the picture just put a new text layer as the top layer and type in the info. You can't change that original time/date in Photoshop.
Thank you!
I don't even care if you add ads to the download you're just such a goat ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Followed it and turns out perfectly. Thank You teacher!
This video must be the guide to how Stalin photoshop-ed dead people from images in the 20th Century
Was that woman pasted into the photo? Just wondering, the lighting doesn't match.
Photoshop Tutorials and Tips Exactly. She's been pasted into the picture. You can see it specially on the weird lighting by the edges, and don't even get me started on her left hand.
OMG 0:12 the girl is so photoshoped in...
***** Also you can see white xD
Idk why, but it seems that the background was photoshopped to me. I mean the colors don't really match,
It's called masking
I cut sections of the image that are the same and past them or stretch them then blend in the edges that way you get the grain of the photo which matches more. Works very well.
Great Tutorial! You just helped me save one of my Team Photos that I took last week that had a couple of people stray into the background.
I know it was a fast job, but that bit of wall by the car headlight and tips of her hair drove me nuts lol
Haha, yeah that bit near the headlight nearly had me yelling at my screen.
Surely that girl has been pasted to the photo.
Looks like it to me, too.
Absolutely!!! Lighting and shadows and all off. How is she going to be behind a wall and stay "perfectly" exposed when the sun is clearly at her back due to the position of the shadows hahahahahha
Exactly why I looked at the comments. Why is he not talking about that?
haha look at her left hand, her fingers look like they are connected at the tips
I could be wrong but I am %60 sure that the girl herself is photoshopped
I love your teaching PHLEARN!!! You can make easy any difficult tasks! Thank you!!!!
Jesus ! Amazing tutorial ! Great technique ... so much for me to learn !
that's one thing that keeps baffling me is how they know whats behind the object that they Photoshop away?
i know dude, me too. lol. I don't get 'how' it works, all I know is that it does work.
yeah IKR !! I thought that they have super power camera that can capture behind objects 😂😂😂💔
haha.
SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER THIS!! Lol I still don't get it too
The program approximates based on the pixels around the object that you remove.
I have a looooooooong list of people that I need to delete from my pics!!
Sample them away with trashcans XD
Also the women is actually photo shopped to make it look like she's sitting on the marble slab when in reality she is from another photo. (Can tell cause the lighting)
And if you look closely you can see her outline is a bit strange.
fantastic tutorial, clear, easy to understand, marvelous
Excellent Tutorial , explained so well in short and sweet way. Thanks Aaron Nace.

+Psyqological they offer a nice deal at adobe with the CC stuff.. Photoshop and lightroom for about 13 euro per month!!.....its a steal!
+Psyqological Hi, look into Photoshop Elements as well. You can do amazing things with this vastly less expensive version of Photoshop.
You can get an older version (CS2) of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and other Adobe software for free on Adobe's website.
+Psyqological < You download a pirated copy from KickAssTorrents
like I did, or download CS2, an ancient version from Adobe.
+Kunta Kinte you could also a an dll to the demo versio of the programs that makes them fullversion ;)
Or you could you take 2 steps to the right and eliminate the trash can & lamp post-thus saving time in Photoshop. Just saying...
Steve Ferneyhough bahahahahaha
the girl is photoshopped, there is no shadow under her legs.
To me, she just... doesnt look realistic
yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
