Toronto train derails and injures passengers, sparking safety concerns

- Multiple people are recovering from injuries after a train in Toronto derailed on Monday.
“As previously mentioned, Line 3 SRT will be replaced by dozens of buses for frequent service until it is safe for us to resume train service,” Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) said in a statement early Tuesday.
This has sparked concerns over the safety of the Scarborough RT. Can the transit line bounce back?

The RT was suppose to close in 2015 and the rails are always so screechy especially coming out of STC.
Sad to hear this happened, hope the TTC can get through it’s state of good repair backlog.
I think the TTC should just reroute the 129, 131, 133, 134 from Scarborough Centre to Kennedy Station and give Malvern an express bus to Don Mills and Kennedy Station. I dont think it makes sense to reopen line 3 thats already commissioned to close down in November.

TTC talking head says they do inspections every 36 days and yet the train still derails, how incompetent are the people doing the inspections for the train to still derail?

7 yrs of no trains service for Scarborough.... I can go to utsc this fall, get my bachelor's and then got to U of T Law school and graduate before Scarborough gets it's subway service back

This would be a sad end for Line 3. A unique technology that has taken off elsewhere.
Ask yourself, when was the last time you heard of a go train derailing ? Last time a stabbing ? Or someone getting beat up... maybe it's time to give the ttc to metrolinx and cut out the fat!!
Surprised there wasn't any hazardous chemicals that were spilt and burned or seaped into our water.
The whole of Scarborough should sue the TTC for human rights abuses, neglect, racism, mental and physical stress.
Scarborough has been a pit for my whole life. We always called it Scarberia. In our last year of high school they bussed in scar. Students to our high school. They had to give them their own areaforclicjers due to violence, swearing and theft. But the filled up the basic level courses.
