Record number of people turned away from Toronto's shelter system

- The number of people turned away from Toronto's shelter system has been steadily increasing for months and hit a record high in June. Tina Yazdani with the startling numbers.
Trudeau's Canada: Everything is expensive, crime is higher than ever, many drug overdoses are a daily thing, people can't afford the basics, housing or food... The list goes on.
They have had to surrender their pets too !
@@annfoster6116 Why ?
His immigration policies have ruined it as well.
How much longer will the feds keep Canada open for immigration when we are beyond capacity? We already have a housing problem and the solution is not to keep adding to the problem. It seems basic math and science is beyond liberal comprehension
The basic math and science is that the Canadian economy is going to collapse in 20 years because there aren’t enough people working to pay for all the seniors and their health care. So the choice is between feeding old people to the wolves or loading up on immigrants now. It turns out that old people vote.
Forever. Ka ler gi plan in full effect. 100 million pop goal for 2100
@@my2iuIt's not seniors but welfare and baby bonuses.
How much longer with the United Nations Humanitarian and Security Forces along with NATO begin dropping their troops into our sovereign territory to offer emergency assistance. It is obvious our Federal Government is collapsing and our military is failing to offer its citizens any protection.
Send the poor people to Trudeau’s riding :D
Economic migrants are not refugees. Use correct language.
If Canada is accepting all these immigrants and refugees from different countries, then making them sleep outside without any shelter or security, that is a violation of the United Nations Human Rights Agreement. We should be hearing from the organization if not actually having a physical presence of their humanitarian and security forces coming into our country to assist with our homeless situation.
we would have did it for first nation already...
UN is not peace...it is occupation to keep the third world in check...
Whatever they are doing is an intentional attack as part of an agenda.
These people are coming without permission. Therefore its not a violation of their human rights to remind them they weren't supposed to be here. If their host country didn't house them why are we obligated to? These people are fishing for something they haven't earned and we don't have the resources for.
They are coming illegally. No one voted for this.
I would like to see a piece on the causes of homelessness that explores how much each factor is contributing.
Housing costs.. Which is also causing Canadians to go homeless
@@rafial81
Due to land value, bureaucracy and building costs.
Ford removed rent controls for buildings built in 2018 and after, so rents are skyrocketing. Landlords of older buildings are renovicting tenants so that they, too, can bring in new tenants at higher rents. People can't afford to pay $2500 or more for a one bedroom. They're ending up on the streets. New immigrants will be in the same situation. There is no affordable housing. Affordable government apartments haven't been built in 30 years. Subsidized housing has a 14 year waiting list.
lack of building homes (bungalows, cottages, etc.) instead of luxury mansions and condominiums is the biggest offender. Luxury apartments instead of regular apartments with regular amenities for daily living (ie., fridge and a stove, communal laundry room, and communal parking garage). Nobody should have a luxury apartment with built in jazuzzi bath, washer and dryer combo, stainless steel stove and fridge/freeezer, and a private parking space.
Flooding the country with asylum seekers when our own homeless population is suffering and unable to get help. Pathetic.
This is what happens when drama teachers run the country
Currently in 2023, Canada's homeless population is at 300,000 people and increasing daily. United States of America is experiencing 553,000 people being homeless with no fixed address.
Yup asylum seekers is fake. They economic migrants. You notice they all the same color. All fake lol. All fake
@@DavidHalverson those are incredibly made up numbers.
Soon most Canadians will have to live just like the millions of migrants Trudeau brought here from India. 5 Gurdeeps in one bachelor apartment.
That was always the plan. They didnt bring them here to save your pensions and improve quality of life. Idiots

Whoever made that mailbox a "needle drop box" in the style of a sharp container 👏
there are so many other great affordable cities in Canada that need labor. move and start a new life there
Great, except it takes 12 to 18 months for a refugee to get a work permit. Federal government needs to speed up that process.
@@noseboop4354 Is that a special permit for refugees, or the permit gives them resident status before their case is proven to be refugees?
@@elena2125 It's a special work permit for refugees. It does not give them resident status, and it does not affect their case to prove that they are actual refugees.
People will have to start looking at settling in other provinces like Alberta or Quebec. Toronto (and much of Ontario) is becoming a place for the elite. Poor, working class and middle class are being priced out of their neighborhoods due to extreme rent increases and rising housing costs. Once affordable neighborhoods are being gentrified and vulnerable citizens displaced, many ending up on the streets.
@@haloeffect67Calgary is getting expensive as well

With Justin's father laying the foundation.
Where is the provincial government ???
Canadians...born and bred first...we should be looking after our own. People that have issues with their own countries should work to fix from within and not looking for free handouts from ours. Our backyard needs mending, we shouldn't be mending the neighbours before ours is fixed. What happens when Canadians become the minority in their own country...
Who voted for the liberals !
The alternative, Poilievre, is literally married to a refugee, so I don’t think immigration policy will change much if you vote for the other guy.
I've seen Toronto is 1 of, if not the most expensive cities in Canada.
It's the 2nd most expensive city in Canada to live in.

Anyone who would like to help these refugees or asylum seekers, please provide your houses or money directly instead of enjoying and sitting at the moral high ground at other’s cost. And this should include our PM Trudeau.
Fed needs to help their own people
Heartbreaking 💔
Any wonder why encampments flourish in Toronto…
So maybe, Turdo, keeping Roxham Road open was not such a good idea. These people will be on government assistance all their lives.
The way the title should read is record number of people seeking shelter

Except for that of ordinary citizens flying out.
Relocate them all to the Arctic and have them to build their own igloo.
Welcome to the new San Fransisco of the North.
Unlikely considering the outdoor temperature in winter.
That's Trudeau's plan. WEF told him to.

Canada is a big place.
Why are these shelters situated on prime real estate in entertainment and financial districts?
Are we trying too hard to provide dramatic solutions to problems we are creating?
Justin? Trudeau?
Let the dogooders house them.
End of Lavish Canada. JT culprit
justin made toronto a sanctuary city ... so these people keep coming and dont realize, we are running out of accommodation ....
This is disgusting and embarrassing for Canada..... no money for the poor and homeless, yet Trudeau just sent Ukraine billions of Canadian dollars ...... how about take care Canada first instead of Ukraine
Nòoooooooo more people ffs
Of course no one can afford rent anymore😢
Send them farm work
Teach them work is mandatory
Pay tax
And then shelter
Imagine this country's priorities...sending $millions to an overseas war while its own taxpayer who provide the funds go homeless and starve...
Bro most homeless don’t work so they don’t pay taxes. The money they panhandle is no t taxed and the hst generated from the very few things they buy comes nowhere closes to funding shelters.
Easy dont come winters coming soon your gonna freeze 😊
You're really referring to asylum seekers, not Canadian citizens. Because no one seems to bat an eye, when it comes to Canadians living on the streets
Good job federal government
Sounds like cities need to invest in some sort of capsule or pod systems like out in Japan.. very small spaces for free or extremely cheap per night fees, built on a budget with communal showers divided by genders
In clown world Canada we have 72 genders. lol
I'm very fond of Indo Canadians. While visiting in the GTA, I hit it off with a beautiful Indian woman at Shoppers World - Giant Tiger. Bumped into her again at the Bramalea City Centre in the food court and spontaneously had dinner together. Later on, we had dessert at my AirBNB and this happened every night until the end of my trip. 👩❤️👨
