I just moved to Texas last Monday because I got a job offer. I’ve been unemployed since 3/17/2020 and here I am sitting in Fort Worth with my cat outside listening to the bugs making noise and this song. So many emotions I’m feeling right now.

I lived in Texas for two years and I can’t wait to go back. The sun there really is like no other. Had such a warm embrace, it would hug you all day. Some days too hot the only thing you could do is grab some Lone Star tall boys and hop an apartment fence so you could swim in their pool all day. I had an old ford pick up with no AC, the radio always blasting, windows all the way down driving on the highway, and when the sun would set, there was always such a beautiful dusty haze in the air. Every day felt like a dream. Random evenings of hanging out with friends playing guitar hootin n hollerin until the sun would rise, playing pool at a dingy dive bar with $2 pitchers of beer, live music everywhere you’d go, tacos to tide you over at any hour of the day. I miss it so much.
Picked up my daughters from middle school. We heard this on the radio. I stopped the car. Listened to the words while feeling the melody. I told my daughters to look up the song. I had never heard it before, but I immediately fell in love with it and instantly shazamed it. Texas Sun and Thinking of a Place by War on Drugs are now among my most influential songs of 2021, and I'm so happy I found them. If I didn't go shopping that day, or even just at a slightly different time, none of these songs would be accompanying me today. Makes me think of how many things in life just happen... when they really should. Not sure if that makes much sense, but the feeling makes me immensely grateful for being alive.

this song, unlike any other, makes me feel a kind of deep longing sadness and nostalgia for things that havent happened in my life yet, especially now that im about to go to college and be all alone. the vocalist did such a good job pairing these simple lyrics with his unique and expressive voice. we also got some good instrument choices that are wonderfully mixed and mastered too. this is a gem of a song, and im surprised it only has 14 million views. this song is a testament to the saying "simpler is better" and i hope to make some songs that carry the emotion and "doing more with less" of this masterpiece. if i ever get to experience having a significant other in my life, this will surely be on my playlist to enjoy with them while watching a beautiful sunset.

Later I came here and found so many excellent suggestions for songs with a similar mood down in the comments. Texas Sun and Thinking of a Place by War on Drugs are now among my most influential songs of 2021, and I'm so happy I found them. If I didn't go shopping that day, or even just at a slightly different time, none of these songs would be accompanying me today. Makes me think of how many things in life just happen... when they really should. Not sure if that makes much sense, but the feeling makes me immensely grateful for being alive.

I was already into this song through BBC RADIO 6, when I was shopping at my local Tesco which had started piping music through lock down, and this song came on, I was blown away, I had to hang around until it had finished playing.

this song, unlike any other, makes me feel a kind of deep longing sadness and nostalgia for things that havent happened in my life yet, especially now that im about to go to college and be all alone. the vocalist did such a good job pairing these simple lyrics with his unique and expressive voice. we also got some good instrument choices that are wonderfully mixed and mastered too. this is a gem of a song, and im surprised it only has 14 million views. this song is a testament to the saying "simpler is better" and i hope to make some songs that carry the emotion and "doing more with less" of this masterpiece. if i ever get to experience having a significant other in my life, this will surely be on my playlist to enjoy with them while watching a beautiful sunset.

This song reminds me of when I drive up to Lubbock TX. to go to school. Hundreds of miles of open road, just coasting along, watching all the small towns disappear in your rear view, makes me miss driving those highways.
So....after 3 years of turmoil in my life, brought on by leukemia, chemotherapy the loss of my 26 year marriage the contemplation of suicide on 3 separate occasions....every now and then in life you find warmth and comfort for your soul...this is one of them. I have to have music in and around me to make my life worth living.....and this amazing , beautiful song takes me to a place I can only dream of, I live on the Shetland islands, Scotland....but listening to this I could easily be under a Texas Sun....
