I just moved to Texas last Monday because I got a job offer. I’ve been unemployed since 3/17/2020 and here I am sitting in Fort Worth with my cat outside listening to the bugs making noise and this song. So many emotions I’m feeling right now.

They played this in Hillsboro, TX on eclipse day - April 8th. I came there from Belgium and when this song came on, I just had to Shazam it. What a vibe. Love it out here, nice people (though not in traffic) and great weather. Lovely place for a long road trip.
2020 was the longest motorcycle trip I'd taken to date - over 10,000 miles. In Seattle, a friend introduced this song to me over a quiet evening of whiskey. It stuck with me for months for the rest of my time on the road, but it became truly synonymous with that trip for me once I reached the desert states. From Winnemucca into Salt Lake, and from Salt Lake all the way to Colorado, this song rang in my head (and headphones) over and over again. A backdrop of pink and white clay badlands, distant blue hills, sparkling sand and gravel, power lines shimmering in the distance. An abandoned two lane highway, smooth as glass and as far and straight as the eye can see to the end of the horizon. A cloudless sky, a happy motor...the wind at your back...

This song captures that feeling one gets whilst standing on a balcony on a late afternoon when the sun is orange and a light breeze passes you by every now and then. That feeling you get when you realize that whatever problems you have can wait because this moment makes everything feel like it's going to be okay.
I lived in Texas for two years and I can’t wait to go back. The sun there really is like no other. Had such a warm embrace, it would hug you all day. Some days too hot the only thing you could do is grab some Lone Star tall boys and hop an apartment fence so you could swim in their pool all day. I had an old ford pick up with no AC, the radio always blasting, windows all the way down driving on the highway, and when the sun would set, there was always such a beautiful dusty haze in the air. Every day felt like a dream. Random evenings of hanging out with friends playing guitar hootin n hollerin until the sun would rise, playing pool at a dingy dive bar with $2 pitchers of beer, live music everywhere you’d go, tacos to tide you over at any hour of the day. I miss it so much.

I heard this song for the first time with someone very special. He told me it was one of his favorite songs so I decided to include it on my playlist because I really liked him. I once told that guy that he was my "Texas Sun", I heard this song many times and I always felt nostalgic, sad and I imagined this special guy in my life, riding in a convertible car, driving under the Texas sun towards an unknown direction. Today, that he died, I understand why he liked this song and why he left it for me as a soundtrack of our love story... Rest in peace Baby John! ❤

Went shopping for some clothes a couple of weeks ago. While being in one of the shops, I heard this song playing in the background. I had never heard it before, but I immediately fell in love with it and instantly shazamed it. Later I came here and found so many excellent suggestions for songs with a similar mood down in the comments. Texas Sun and Thinking of a Place by War on Drugs are now among my most influential songs of 2021, and I'm so happy I found them. If I didn't go shopping that day, or even just at a slightly different time, none of these songs would be accompanying me today. Makes me think of how many things in life just happen... when they really should. Not sure if that makes much sense, but the feeling makes me immensely grateful for being alive.

So....after 3 years of turmoil in my life, brought on by leukemia, chemotherapy the loss of my 26 year marriage the contemplation of suicide on 3 separate occasions....every now and then in life you find warmth and comfort for your soul...this is one of them. I have to have music in and around me to make my life worth living.....and this amazing , beautiful song takes me to a place I can only dream of, I live on the Shetland islands, Scotland....but listening to this I could easily be under a Texas Sun....

I want more music that speaks like this song specifically. I remember first hearing it as I came home seeing an unlikely collaboration between these two artists that were my favorite artists. then they dropped this song, I pulled into my driveway while indulging in its beautiful atmospheric melody. I was swept away and was yearning for that desert and a place I've never been to... Now all I wanna do is visit Texas and the desert again. My gosh music is powerful.
Just heard this for first time on the Blue River for the Full Moon Float...another canoeist way ahead played it and I was instantly transported back to 1976 floating down the Jack Forks and Current River for a 3-day bluegrass festival with parents and sibs...bands played and jammed day and night at our campground...while canoeing, you heard the music traveling on the water for miles...thanks for invoking some of my best teen memories!
