grateful for these videos it was what I knew deep down inside,.. I was ignoring the voice in my head but I REALLLLLYYYYYYY NEEDED to be told... thankyouuuuuuuuu
Great video, thank you. Its my first year homeschooling this year. I am doing simple and then adding ... interest led and child led .. hoping it all falls into place along the way
Always interesting to see how other homeschoolers do it. I'm in nz and we are allowed a lot of freedom in homeschooling once our exemption is accepted. I'm a very relaxed homeschooler, bordering on unschooling. We do unit studies, and our core subjects we do very short lessons if they aren't interested or distracted , we do a lot of our lessons in the car as well by way of discussions. Also good to find out what kind of learners your kids are.
Thank you for your video's. I have an interview to approve my homeschooling tomorrow. Ive done alot of research have my plan written out and am probably beyound organised... but was still feeling a little nervous. Your videos have made me feel a little calmer. Very informative and helpful. Thank you!
Your welcome 🤗 with Math try to make it as fun as possible. We used Mathseeds, an online program by Reading Eggs. The boys loved using it, then after just using the online program for a little while we added in worksheets to go with it. If they are reluctant to write you could write for them. My boy would do a little bit of handwriting practice, draw a picture and then I would have him tell me about it and I would write down what he said. After doing this for a little while they get used to it and you can get them to do a little bit more. We would only work for 20 minutes at a time and then they were rewarded with something fun to do after. For my boys it was games on the reading eggs program. I hope that helps ❤️
Let them move around. For learning to count, add, subtract etc, they can jump on the spot, collect leaves, flowers etc from outside. For writing they can colour in words, use magnetic letters, and dictate their stories to you. But I'm a relaxed homeschooler in NZ where we don't have to provide evidence or anything to anyone and believe in short lessons ( brain studies have shown a child's focused attention is their age plus one minute) and starting when they are ready to learn, my fourth homeschooling child is six and is still learning through play. Playing shops is another way to do maths.
Hello, im new to HS but i had started the application process during term 2 holidays, not realising how long it could take and so my yr 1 & yr 5 boys started 3 weeks into term 3. This has been a bit stressful as we couldn't take full holiday breaks at the same time as school otherwise they would've fallen further behind than 3 weeks. Im trying to stick as closely to it as possible so they can have a nice long break at Xmas before starting next yr. My question is, do you have any videos with tips on work samples/reporting? I think I am unnecessarily stressing about this as I'm with Euka & they do help out a little, i just feel like I need to hear it from another HS parent. Thank you so much for taking the time to help other's.
Hi there 😊collecting work samples with Euka is fairly easy. Your children will be completing some worksheet type tasks and will even sometimes create projects that is not on the online platform. You can use these as samples of your children's work to show your moderator when they come. Just collect some work sample from the beginning, middle and end of the school year and that should show progress over the year. i do have some video's on how to show progress and do reporting for your moderator that I can link for you. You are probably over thinking it, it is a fairly easy process once you wrap your head around what to do. Hope you find these videos helpful 💜 ruclips.net/video/EJk1q_0gTKs/видео.html ruclips.net/video/WUFxx3-w17s/видео.html ruclips.net/video/usLvcrAB-7M/видео.html
Excellent video. Could a video be done about the differences you found homeschooling your highschool child compared to primary school children? Would be much appreciated.
I’m glad you enjoyed the video 🤗 we have only had one year of homeschooling a high schooler so far. I did not find too much difference, I imagine once we hit year 9 it will be a little bit different. We will be starting to really focus in on what his future career may be and start aiming towards that Kylie over at The Homeschool Sweet Spot ruclips.net/channel/UCu-LI95N8dyTaCo3Wcfe8kQ has high school kids, if you wanted to know some more maybe check out her channel and ask her some questions, she would love to help you if she can ❤️
Hi Marieka, Thank you so much for all of your videos, we are starting homeschooling soon and because of you I now feel more confident about finding our own rhythm. Any tips on how you keep your children entertained during times they aren't homeschooling so that you are able to get other work done? We have two businesses so any tips would be very much appreciated. Belle
I am so glad that you have found my videos helpful! When I need to keep my kids entertained I set them up watching a movie or a documentary type show and some snacks. Or I set them all up with a device and they play Minecraft or roadblocks together. if I want them entertained with school type work i will put out some books, puzzles, board games, legos, magnetic blocks for them to use. And sometimes we all have quiet time. I will play some nice peaceful music through the house and they spend time in their room doing something quiet by themselves. I hope that helps, and good luck on your homeschool journey!
Workbooks can be super helpful when they are aligned to the Australian Curriculum as then you know that you are ticking all of the curriculum boxes. We have used workbooks over the years and my children have enjoyed them for a little while but over time I find they become a little bit try and sometimes not very engaging
@@Mariekalake Yeah I love workbooks because I know I'm ticking all the boxes and that it's all there for me especially in a busy season. but it seems more fun reading living books and researching and doing a poster or project around a topic. I just purchased the Targetting HASS workbook and it gets you to read a page then answer the questions but its very difficult to find the answers or it requires us to extract and think deeper to find information from what we have read! But i guess it gets them thinking and problem solve. What workbooks have you used in the past?
Really appreciate your videos. Please keep them coming ☺️
I am so glad that you found that helpful
Thank you, I enjoyed this
Oh my goodness, i'm only 2mins into this video & it's already extremely helpful. Thank you, Thank you! 😃

Thank you Marieka 🤩 what tricks and tips do you have for 6 year olds who are reluctant sitting down to do some writing or maths?

I'm curious if Australia has a required amount of days or hours of school each year. Thanks!
Here in Western Australia we do not have that requirement, not 100% sure about the other states

@@mustardseed123 we have used History Now. My oldest son who is in high school uses some work books from the Australian Homeschooling Series
