I was advised by my local koi dealer to buy a chagoi (Gin Rin type) when purchasing my first koi selection for my new pond due to their temperament and friendly nature, he was quick to feed from my hand and my other koi followed, such a friendly fish and a great addition to my pond.
Chagoi are great indeed to get the rest of your Koi very tame. Goofd advise by your local dealer! They might look a little bit boring, but are surely a great addition to your koi pond as friendly pet
Hello
I am new to this channel and I have been learning more about koi than I ever thought I would know at this point. I purchased a Marusei GinRin Chagoi last year and it is 19" now. I have noticed the red fins on it and the friendly behavior. It is wagoi and a lemon yellow color. I also have Doitsu Chagoi, long fin Chagoi and the dark brown Chagoi that was sold to me as a root beer Chagoi. I have 4 in total.
Now after watching this video, I understand more about my Chagoi.
Thank you very much sir!
Hi there, thanks for your comment and especially your compliments! Marusei Chagoi usually can grow quite large, they start with a slim body posture, but usually over the years it will become a lot better. I don't know honestly about the name rootbeer, that might be a term that is used in your country. You have 4 chagoi! So that must mean your Koi are most probably very hand tame and friendly!
@@Aboutkoi oh yes! They come right out of the water with open mouths. The rest of the koi join in surrounding the bigger ones that come to the surface first. It's a rewarding experience that has made me like Chagoi even better!
@@canisteovalleydave That makes enjoying your pond even nicer, right? I love it when they all directly come towards you when you walk closeby.
Chagois might just be 1 colour but the body shape and mass makes it so unique. And a bonus of being a very friendly fish same as ochibas. Great video man!👍👍
Another awesome video👍 please continue the good work.
Thank you! Ik will surely continue! Thanks for your compliment
I have a ginrin chagoi from marusei. Since chagoi put other koi at ease, it has helped improve growth rate of all other koi😁
Marusei (hirasawa) often will grow very big indeed. They often start a bit slim in the first 4-5 years, until they start to gain mass. Nice that it is so friendly!
Lovely video. I love my gosanke, but my real favourites are chagoi, karashigoi, ochiba, kigoi and soragoi , so bid, so friendly ❤
Indeed al friendly! A must have in any Koi pond
They look so peaceful and sleepy
Picking up my Gin rin Chagoi today, such a beautiful koi!
Awesome! What breeder?

I ended up adding 2x Asagi and a Goshiki with the order... Love the Gin Rin Chagoi!
love your videos! keep it up
Thank you a lot! For sure: working on a new video for tomorrow!
I was lucky enough to find a really dark brown chagoi , was told it's called rootbeer idk how true that is but the fishnetting it has is awesome he's easily the prettiest fish i have
A nice dark brown Chagoi can be so great, indeed as what you are mentioning when the net pattern is strong. I don't know honestly about the name rootbeer, might be a term that is used in your country 😀. Thanks for your comment!
Green chagoi are my favourite
Olive green van be awesome indeed!
I like how friendly Chagoi are; the ease at which they become tame and handfeed :)
They are very curious indeed. I think that is the reason why this variety is so easy to learn to eat out of your hands. Very nice addition to any Koi pond!
Nice video❤ is the reddish fin an identity of this variety?
In the last part of the tail, yes this happens a lot. It is considered as normal for this variety.
Is the red on the bottom half of the tail a chagoi trait? My gin rin chagoi has this same redness on the bottom half of her tail.
Bought a 15 CM Tosai Chagoi. 3 months later this was a 30CM fish!
Thank you for the great info. I have a new pond and will be getting a fish soon. Does ginrin Soragoi or Ochiba has the same temperament as Chagoi?
Yes they do, especially Soragoi is a really kind variety. They will surely help you to get all of the Koi very calm & friendly
👍👍👍love the color of ginrin Soragoi (metallic grey). I remember seeing pictures ginrin chagoi that is more brownish gold and another metallic green. Sorry I’m new at this. Names of fish can get confusing but your videos help a lot. Thanks again
How many Chagoi should I have per other koi in my pond? 1 per 10 or 1per 15 to be good leaders and help me tame the others?
Difficult question, each chagoi is different if you ask me. I would just start with one for your pond. Normally that will already help enormously as long as you make sure to pick come that comes to you already in the store. How many Koi do you have in total?
@@Aboutkoi just 11, but no chagoi, just pond quality from zamzows, but I like them none the less.
One chagoi will normally be fine! Or a karashigoi or soragoi, usually also really calm Koi that will become leaders of the group
9:25 chagoi just ate poop 😂
Haha, yes they are very curious and try to eat anything it seems!
2years alredy? 🤔🤔🤔 small
What size do you think the average nisai chagoi is? ;)
