- In this video, we'll dive deep into the exciting new CineCamera Rig Rail feature introduced in the Unreal Engine 5.3 update. Whether you're a seasoned Unreal Engine user or just getting started, this tutorial will help you unlock the full potential of this powerful tool for creating cinematic sequences and dynamic camera movements in your projects.
Learn how to store camera focus, iris, and zoom in rail points, enabling you to drive more complex aspects of your composition along the rail path. This opens up endless possibilities for creating captivating cinematic sequences.
I'll demonstrate how to automate your camera movements with precision using three powerful drive modes:
Manual Mode: Discover how to drive your rail position from Sequencer or external input, giving you complete control over your camera's path.
Duration Mode: Find out how to drive your rail position to complete your move within a specific time frame, perfect for achieving perfectly timed shots.
Speed Mode: Explore how to drive your rail position at a consistent speed, ensuring smooth and dynamic camera movements.
Points are stored by absolute value and can be easily keyed in Sequencer. This guarantees that your camera's position remains unchanged, even as you add more points to your sequence.
The innovative heat map feature show you how to visualize your camera's speed along the rail path. Say goodbye to unexpected surprises when recording complex camera moves.
Customize your camera's behavior by choosing which axes to inherit from the rig rail. Whether you want precise position control or a steadier ride by removing the Z axis, we've got you covered.

If you can't find the cine camera rig rail, remember to enable it first in the plugins window then restart editor :D
Awesome CineCamera Rig tutorial! Thank you for sharing this : )
Wow! Very interesting! Especially slow mo effect setup 👍🏻 thanks
Your lectures and knowledge are outstanding. Thanks for taking the time and effort! 🍻
It really makes my day to hear stuff like this! Thank you for watching my videos! ☺️🙌
Im still on 5.2 but this was very helpful. I was reluctant to use the Rail rig but man that is totally what I needed . Thanks for the info
Happy to hear that! Thanks for watching my video too! 🙏
This was such a good tutorial! Please do more
This makes me so happy to hear! Yes, there are lots more tutorials coming. 🙂🙏
This was really good thank you! please make more teaching us how to move cinematically.
Thank you! I'm happy to hear that you liked it! 🥰
Great tutorial, but I subscribed because of the trippy music in the background.
So cool! Thanks for the great workflow breakdown with the new cine rails. :D
I'm happy to hear you liked the video! Thanks for watching! 😊
I have a question. I have the new RigRail and created a sequencer shot. I keyframed the speed at 5.0 which is very slow. But when I hit A+P (Game mode) it still runs fast. Why is this? This was really good can you perhaps do more tricks and setups with the RigRail. Thanks so much.
Great overview mate 🙌🏽
Thank you! I'm happy to help! 🤗
thank you so much you the free lens 4 unreal engine broddy....and happy holidays....
Happy that you liked it! Thanks! Happy holidays to you! 😊
How I can export as fbx a control rig object with animation attached to a camera rig rail? pleaseeee T.T
Once I'm starting to render the project Rigrail changing its own position, camera at this moment moving to 0.0.0 position...
Hi! Thanks for the detailed tutorial!
Tho, I ran into a weird issue. I've updated my ue5 version to the latest (5.3.2) but the "CineCamera Rig Rail" feature is still not showing in my scene. Is there a way you know I could fix this? Thanks in advance!
You have to add "CineCameraRigs" under plugins.
Great, thanks! 😊
Thank you for watching!!
How do you enable the drive mode setting? Ive been looking for this and it does not show it anywhere.
You need to enable the camera rig plugin beta in the Plugins section.
Amazing man! I noticed you can make the spline component a loop but it doesn't complete the rail as a loop. Is there any way to make that work? Looking to make a more controllable orbit rail.
Sir how to animate train buggies..
Really good tutorial.
Not only straight to the point and short but super clear explanation on the workflows and possible use scenarios 10/10
Thank you!
It makes me really happy to hear that I was able to be that informative! Thanks for watching Matias! 🤗
Hi, I can see you have an option for Cine Camera Rig rail. I only have Camera Rig Rail, and all the settings are slightly different. Anyone else?
Ah....it's a plug in.
Cool video, thank you, man.
Note: the background music was a bit loud.
Thank you! I noticed this too after uploading, publishing and then watching the day after I was like "damn, it's really loud.." 🙁
Would love to see more content about using unreal Engine for film and content creation.
This camera rig feature was one of the things I was awaiting for from EPIC team to deliver and your video was really nice in illustration of how to use it.
I saw in your bio that you have a background in flims and I believe this nich is really uncovered in youtube and has so little professional content despite that unreal now target hollywood studios and add features to make them use the software for film creation.
Adding music is one of those things that _feels_ good to do as a creator but at the end of the day you're probably better off not using music at all@@tiedtkeio
I only found out there a presets for certain shapes of the dolly track.
Great stuff.
But damn, i need these new features on my new project. I use reallusion iclone and not sure if they have 5.3 update.
Gonna have to download this for my next project.
Some great tips there.
G
Thank you! Yes, always tricky with new versions and getting everything to work haha. 😅
i have ue 5.3 but i didn't get cine camera rig rail..It shows only camera rig rail..
You have to add "CineCameraRigs" under plugins.
So I was hoping you would demonstrate how to use the speed and duration funtions in the sequencer. I can get these going fine in viewport but I coulnd't seem to get anything other than the way you showed at the end to work.
Yes, I do realise I missed some important points in this video, one of those being what you mentioned. I'll add these missing points for tutorial topics to cover next. 😅
Amazing my question is can I do the same but with vehicles and if I can do you have a tut or can you make one?
Do you mean a car following the spline? 🤗
@@tiedtkeio I'm actually trying to do a helicopter or a jet atm still just wanna test everything
how to use 5.2 version in cinecamera rig rail ?? it is same process ?
Yes, 90% same process ☺️🙏
bro how to creating assets in unreal engine 5.2 ? @@tiedtkeio
@AbdulRaheem-gn6or Until Unreal Engine supports complex modelling, you have to use a 3D engine of your choice to complete the entirety of the modeling pipeline. If you are straped for cash, Blender is the best choice. If you have more money than what you can count, Blender is also the best choice. If you are unsure, Blender is the best choice as well. Anyone who says Maya, C4D or 3ds Max are big geh.
can we add movement to the CineCamera Rig rail so that the cameras moves on the rig rail along with the movement to the CineCamera Rig rail
Of course! Just add a transform keyframe on the Rig Rail actor in Sequencer. ☺️
how you did those volumetric low clouds?
The clouds in the background is part of the HDRI image in the skydome. So it's just an image. Then on top of it I have the "Exponential Height Fog" with a fog density of 0,5. 🙂
excellent thank you!! Im not sure im with you on trying to imitate real life when it comes to digital movie making, I mean the digital world is precisely here to achieve things we cannot in tradionnal movie making! Innovate!
Thank you so much! ☺ Yes, it of course comes down to a matter of taste and preference. For me it's about achieving the closest I can get to photo realism with CGI as if it had been done in real life, so that's why I try to use real world thinking and limitations. 😃
Was there really a need to make the music so loud over a tutorial video... smh
No I need to be better at mixing the music with dialogue. :(
Title specifically says "how to use X" and right off the bat you're clicking around adding points willy nilly without explaining how to even do it. Ended up just having to go back to doing dozens of google searches to find out basic functionality. No information on how to actually automate the movement of the camera along the rail in the manual mode to a sequence. Pretty much the first thing any cinematographer is going to want to do with it.
