    have a fleet of trucks and triple trailer units all working 24 7. All have cummins engines and have been hauling iron ore to quarries across australia. have 6 kenworths with isx engines all are 6 years old been running pretty much 24 7 since only shutting down for services. all have done around 25 to 30,000 hours and between 1.1 million to 1.5 million kms. havent had a spanner to any of them. great engines great kenworth trucks!

      Leinad..... I'm NOT saying that this is your case, but in "most" cases.... generally, liner polishing is the result of too much extended idling.... and the oil consumption is probably connected with the liner polishing, resulting in poor oil control... or is it leaking it?

      @Romans--bo7br 4 года назад +3

      Terry Rack.... in other words, they're (hopefully) Not assembling an engine with (especially) accessory parts or components that should be going on a different engine order. These are Not "one size fits all" car or pick-up truck engines... HD diesels have specific order numbers for each engine and they are set up for specific applications.... even when ordered for (ie:) semi - trucks.. you could have the "same" engine platform for one truck model... but, could have 7 or 8 variations in regards to air compressor and alternator sizes, turbo model and location, etc, etc.
      You also have gen-set and industrial application orders as well.... so, Yes.... they need to be paying very close attention to matching the engine serial number with its specific work order number and making sure that all the "right parts" are on each specific engine for it's "end use" application.... and that also applies Internally as well as for external parts.
      Static compression ratios vary, depending on end-use application and power levels desired.... so, pistons, camshafts (lobe design & ramp rates) can vary during assembly.... they are Not all the same, whatsoever.

Then covid hit and our shop slowed down i was laid off temporally (ha ) for 90 days. over 120 days latter with no explanation i was what they said furloughed . I had never been written up for any thing i had never even been late to work once . I worked on every engine platform Cummins had at the time from the B all the way up to high HP K engines and Onan gensets. I also was the only tech certified to diag and repair industrial alternators for transit buses. I truly believe the reason i was let go is our branch manager at that time (JIM) did not like me for some reason and i was the oldest tech in the shop at that time almost 60 years old... +Jason Carpp Cheap Products. Given the parts are from another area, the quality and response time of those companies when something goes wrong is actually spot on. The Quality Control aspect is actually pretty good, so there is a trade off there. American Made parts seem to lack the response time of the overseas companies. I used to work there, and the majority of parts are manufactured overseas, but they go through a quality check system about 15 times before the engine is even painted, so the quality is there, but the Manufacturing location is just in another area.

    • @jasoncarpp7742

      +Brandon Coccarelli That doesn't make *any* sense. I would think that it'd take less time for the product to reach its destination if it were produced here in this country. If it were to be sold in Asia, I would accept Made in China. Or Made in Australia, if it were to be sold in the South Pacific countries. But for the North American market, I'd prefer something made in either the USA or Canada, or Made in Mexico, for Mexico and South America. I would think it would depend on the country to which the product were to be sold.

The Cummins N14 & M11 truck engines were all in Black paint, except for the Owner Operator spec'd N14 (with the 460 hp rating) which was Black, with Red rocker covers... nick named the "red head" engine.
      The marine versions use to be in White.... as were, many of the Cats. The only other paint color exception for the earlier "855" block in hd truck use, were from Paccar.... parent co. to Pete & KW during the very late 1960s and early 1970s, when they ordered the Cummins & Cat engines painted in White, but the Detroits remained in their factory "Alpine Green" color.... except for those that were shipped to International Trucks, they ordered them specially painted in "International Harvester Red".

    If that plant in Jamestown, NY is still in existence, I'm shocked. NYS is the most "business unfriendly" state in the US. Cummins could pay a whole lot less to do it's business if it moved the operation to the South.

    I had a new Volvo a few years ago it had 400 N 14 engine it ran and pulled better then the IXS motors in the other trucks we had.i took the tractor too Allentown Mack the mechanic came out with the computer box and he set it up right.i think its sad that they turn the power down on trucks now .trucks on the turnpike run at 65 too 68 thats it companys want too save fuel .Ryder JBH Sneider and other trucking companies drivers run the passing lane too much and get mad at you when you pass them thats sad.i think too making big horse power engines like a 400 too 550 are a waste of time.Please people i have driven a 18 wheeler sent i was 17 years old i m now 54 .my dad drove all Macks and is 84 now wow.trucking is fun too me drivers .if you buy your own truck have them set it up like you want thats all.i got two speeding tickets in my life one when i was 19 and one back 2002 people be careful out there God bless.

    hi ben türkiyeden yazıyorum .uzun yıllar değişik motorların revizyonunu yaptım.cumminslerin v8 855 cummins ntta big cam kt 19 vs .Ancaaak cummins kt 19 serilerinde bir hata buldum.bu hatayı türkiyedeki birçok ustalar göremiyor ve subap enjektör ayarını yanlış yapmasına ve enjektör memesi kırılmasına hatta iticilerin eğilmesine sebep oluyor.Bu makinedeki hatayı söylüyorum. Motorun önündeki titreşim damperindeki sente harfleri.yani A B C .üst ölü noktalarını gösteren harfler.

    I need that trailer to hook up to my truck to see what's wrong with this x15 boat anchor... Feels like I'm driving an old 80's cummins... Of course it doesn't help that the exhaust hits a 90 degree brick wall not more than 20 inches from the turbo so it can get down to the power and fuel economy robbing DPF... Diesels need to BREATH, the epa is choking the crap out of them....

    Sound like I should try FIRST to buy Cummins engine equipped van, too bad GM deleted 6.6 vans, going to write to GM to giving us the option to stick in Cummins 6.6 or 6.7 litter in the GMC cargo van like before! I can see and trust the Cummins engine. The employees should NOT be indirectly required, nice words urging or inspire, should be strictly voluntary without any back-lash JUST because certain employees want to rest... To do his or her own hobbies etc., to do community activities unless they want to, cz too stressful and all that hard work, they do need VERY in need of good and long and quality rest! USA

    We run Kenworth and Peterbilt truck’s hauling product up and down steep grades in Colorado most of which are powered by the ISX 15 & X-15’s. We’ve found that the ISX 15’s run to about 300,000 miles and become plagued with problems that lead to full overhauls. We’ve rebuilt two of them but after becoming more familiar with the issues they have we have decided they aren’t worth fixing. Engines have gone from a lifespan of over 1,000,000 miles to 1/3rd of that which is not cost effective.
    Our X-15 powered part of the fleet has been much less problematic but they are still in the fairly new category so time will tell. Hopefully they are better than the ISX 15’s have been.
    In my opinion if you have an engine failure of a 2010 or newer truck, you will get way more life out of it by replacing the engine with a pre-emission model which comes with a warranty than by rebuilding.

    i wish peterbilt with give O/O better engine options choices to make then this pile of dung.. i 'm about to purchase a new truck and i just don't want a cummins, i want my old trust worthy DD15 which i've never had no major problems with, i replaced the small top coolant line on the passenger side, also it was weeping a little oil at the rear of engine block above starter, all fixed under warranty 'I'm about to turn it in this year with 460K miles on my 2012 freight liner, before this my company trucks had cummins which were always down and in the shop until i started driving a truck with the DD15 i just trust that engine, it has never let me down, i know that drive line with the eaton fuller 10 speed together they made me a lot of money. but now i want a 2017 peterbilt 389 but what is holding me back is that it has that stupid cummins in it, very frustrating, if i must i'll get another truck with the DD15.

      @budwheelie8297 7 лет назад

      charles V- I agree the DD15 is pretty good. I never had issues with it either. The only problems I ever have with the ISX15 is the after treatment system. If they can make one that works, that'll be awesome. I know the emissions crap is annoying, expensive, and doesn't sound as good, however I'm no hippie but I like the whole less pollution movement.
