    Hi everyone at Living felt, thank you Marie, this is such an amazing video. I have just started needle felting about 3 weeks ago and although I have read about some of the things you have talked about here, I haven't always known what each tool does and why to use them. I feel so much more informed and it makes me more comfortable when I know more. You are an amazing teacher and so far on you tube , I haven't found any other teachers I understand as well as you. Thanks again Nicki.

    i would like a needle holder that is just a round knob, Ive tried your longer needle holder, but they just dont work for me. it feels awkward for me. something much shorter and rounder would work better. But lots of good info here, getting ready to place an order, might have to add some of your new products. I recommend their Earth Harmony foam, its great to use. That felt pad looks intriguing. Bet it would be great for 2D.

    What a fantastic show! I have two questions. First, you were talking about the idea of using the toppers for a canvas. If they'll work as a canvas, how would you keep your projects from felting to them if you're using them only as protection for your mat? And second, since the wool mats are much more dense, do you find it harder on your hands/wrists when you're felting vs. the foam that has more give? You all are the best! Thank you for all that you do! 💖

    • @LivingFelt
      @LivingFelt  2 года назад

      Thanks for the questions, Devon!Devin!. If you use the toppers as a canvas, you WOULD attach you project to the pad permanently ;)
      We find them very comfortable
      to work on, and enjoy the low profile :)

    • @devonmccarroll6509
      @devonmccarroll6509 2 года назад

      Thank you! On the toppers, what I meant was if I just intend to use it as a protective topper, how do I keep the wool from felting to it since wool usually goes through whatever fabric or wet felted piece that I’m working on.

    • @DonnaMundinger
      @DonnaMundinger 2 года назад +1

      @@devonmccarroll6509 I have a smaller wool mat and I always use a topper. I find that if you're doing 2D work, you still want to peel it from the felting surface (matt+topper, or just the mat) periodically, but its much easier to peel off from the wool than from the foam. The dense wool sort of stops the needle from going too far. Also, for things like animal ears, etc., I find that the side towards the wool mat ends up with a nicer finish so I turn it over fairly frequently and use the Clover punch tool.

    Great show, Marie! Very excited about the large size wool mat! Was wondering if there will be a neutral felt topper at a later date for in between colors., Marie. Something in an earth tone would be good,, especially for animal ears, etc. I like the idea of a thicker topper as I have toppers for an approx. 6x10 3/4" wool mat that are 1mm thick and eventually they get pretty gnarly after extended use but I suppose I can just order your larger colored 1mm felt in various hues if I wish. Of course I always use the wool mat on top of a foam one.

    • @LivingFelt
      @LivingFelt  2 года назад

      Hi Donna, we are open to it! The dyed pads are more costly, and given the designed use, we have stayed with smaller sizes for now, meaning the 9x9 is good to use on larger pads ... if the item you are needle felting is not larger than the topper.

    This was a great WW. I went back and watched the WW on needles. It too was very helpful. Marie's explanation of how the shafts are shaped helped me make sense of how the needle will move the wool. Is the advantage of Marie's grouped, rubber banded 42 triangles that they are closer together than they can be in any tool that is available?

    The paper version of the needle was amazing! The best explanation EVER!! Thank you for all you do. I have learned so much from you but this show was hands down the best! Time to go place another Living Felt order, yay!! I do have a question though, do needles wear out? Also, I have one that is now curved, can I continue to use it?

    • @LivingFelt
      @LivingFelt  2 года назад +1

      Hi Sara, thank you! We find that needles last a long, long time. They are designed for industrial use. Very often they get broken before wearing out. If your needle is bent...or bowed, it is on its way to breaking. We advise letting them go. 💙

    A lambush! Buahahaha I NEED WOW pads! I think having the smaller one is good for when you are doing little body parts at different angles. I use sever different ones. My WB wool pad (not from you) is wearing out already & when I clean it with a short toothed pet brush a lot of surface fibers come out, it was a bit pricey too. A dark foam pad I got from a craft store is a great size but I'm getting black flecks in my other work! no idea what it's made from. It's not good though. I will be ordering nice wool ones from you & the white topper too. Funny what we get excited about! I absolutely keep my LF needles seperate from others I got when I first started or from the kits gifted to me, also the code card. I LOVE them but I see I need to add to my collection!

    I have the clover pen tool but when I’ve tried to replace needles they won’t penetrate the wool . It just bounces off. What am I doing wrong? Wrong gauge needle?

    • @LivingFelt
      @LivingFelt  2 года назад +1

      If the needles won't penetrate. They are likely too coarse, and too many..given the coarseness. This is what Marie meant by "too much resistance". Try finer needles. You can also call us and we can help, but that sounds like the issue.

  • @yoyokoch9099

    On average how long does a needle stay sharp/last? Before I found ya’ll I got a batch that seemed to get dull or break after a few projects🤨

    • @LivingFelt
      @LivingFelt  2 года назад +1

      They really should last and last. If the bow or bend, it is often a result of too much resistance or putting sideways pressure on the needle. They should also stay sharp if only being used on wool.
