The Lakers were right to draft Bynum: he had the size and the skills to replace Shaq at the position. They got not one but TWO championships out of Bynum and even with his poor attitude, Bynum was a beast on the floor when healthy. Too bad his injuries and immaturity kept him from becoming truly great.
That Lakers team was SO weird in retrospect. We really most likely wouldn't have one those titles without Bynum, and had he not gotten injured in 08 we might have beated the Celtics then.
He actually contributed to one championship. After trading for Gasol, he stepped right in and took over. Gasol and Kobe are the reasons they won, not Bynum.
I don't think the Lakers would have beaten the Celtics w/o Bynum. Kobe and Gasol certainly were more important than Bynum, but I don't think the Lakers would have been tough enough w/o Bynum.
I met him about 5 years back at the philly airport while waiting for a connection. He's a dope dude. Down to earth. Shame about all these injuries and attitude problems.
He elbow a guy in the air at a momentum so fast with a height 5 8. The guy could have fall really bad on the court. I have seen people who are nice but rotting inside and conartist. Beware.
Dan the Lakers fan Bad knees can ruin anyone's spirit but hell 2 rings 50 mil and possibly the only person to ever Posterize big Shaq lmao I'll take it
Injuries and inconsistent play was what ruined his career but the few times that he was healthy and had his mind focused on the game he was a monster. His size, strength and length was very impressive he also had good post moves and could hit free throws if he stayed healthy and had the right people behind him pushing him he would of been better than Shaq.
Finally someone's talking about Bynum. When Bynum went down, no body talk anything about it, all they care about at that time was Dwight Howard like What happend to Dwight, What If Dwight was never leave Orlando, What If Dwight team up with somebody else not Kobe or What If Dwight didn't get that back injured,...So all I want to say is thank you.
Amir Johnson was in the same draft as Bynum and was picked later, so Amir was actually the last HS player drafted before the rule. Satnam Bhamara was picked straight frrom high school in 2015. Still, your point about age still stands.
Andrew Bynum Was The Last High School Player To Be Drafted In The First Round But Amir Johnson Was The High School Player Selected Being That He Was A Second Rounder... Now, As For Thon Maker He Went To A Prep School In Canada & Took College Courses While Attending High School Which Qualified Him For The Draft!!!
The Lakers & Kareem really took his size and weight. And they really turned him into an above average center in the NBA. Bynum is a success story, no matter what ppl say. And use to give Tim Duncan fits. Even Duncan admitted so.
I have always liked Andrew Bynum for some reason or another reason.......he is pretty good and still young enough to return to the NBA. and note that knee injuries are hard on any athletic; but I always feel that anything can repaired.
The short time Bynum was there, he was as fierce a competitor as it was at center at that time, his heart is only questioned by u, Kobe questioned the heart of Gasol, but never of Bynum
He was just another HS kid with great talent going straight to the NBA but lacking education and being immature. Thats how you spoil kids: Dont educate them, give them millions of dollars and media attention at a young age..
Damn this guy was so talented. He was well on his way towards becoming the next great Lakers big. He had so much freakin talent but injuries, poor commitment and other issues plagued him. Very disappointed with how it all turned out. This dude was the real deal when he wanted to be
Andrew Bynum has so much talent and potential. It’s a shame. Too bad he had so many injuries. But he also did stupid things off the court. He didn’t take good care himself. It’s really too bad.
I think he knew what was coming since his knees went out almost every season it sucks cos Lakers really needed him in the 2008 finals he was a good talent too maybe the last good center
As a Laker fan, I had high hopes, but he just kept getting injured and apparently wasn't following instructions from the coaches. Its a real shame, he could have been a great center, but injuries and possibly a lack of desire ended his career.
So he's 29, retired and a multi-millionaire.. I understand his knees are damaged and he can't play the game he loves.. but I think he is pretty damn happy with his life. Rich, young and travelling the world.. sounds pretty good to me.
Nice video man, just a tip if I can: Most people don't like to see people getting hurt. Putting the video of the injury in your piece doesn't feel necessary. :)
Very well done video. Andrew's story is frustrating though to hear again. I never thought he had a bad attitude. He was very bright with a high basketball IQ and only made the All Star game because he broke the rules. Phil Jackson curbed his success when he played with Kobe, Gasol and Fisher by saying, "If he gives me 10/10, that's all we ask of him." He knew he was better than this and started pushing back. The next season he made the All Star Team. Bynum was also cited as being less than a hard worker but this also was not true. He developed his own Summer workout programs and did his own thing. He was not a conformist and he saw the problems on his team very clearly, and often stated these problems out loud such as, "Our team has a trust problem," referring to himself and the buddy ball played between D. Fish and Kobe. I'm sure everyone recall Kobe saying, "Ship his a** out," and a couple of years later giving him the keys to the City in LA. Simply, he came in at barely 18 and was typecast by Phil Jackson. He was stuck into a role because of this and broke the rules to define himself. There was no other way. Again, I never though this was a bad attitude. The hit on Berea was frustration, because, Fisher never played any defense and Drew was fouling out a lot having to deal with it. His attitude in Philly and Indiana given his massive salaries, was very questionable but I figure he was dealing with the same old attitudes and had already given up by that time. He does own Philly $16M imo.
Some people are content. Not necessarily bad attitude you can't judge a man u don't know his past. If I can make millions and become a champ in a short amount of time and retire very young, why not.
This has to be one the stranger stories in the league. Andrew Bynum had potential even with the knee injuries, it seemed like he could've been better than what he was giving but he just lost his heart for the game and trolled his way out of the league.
The truth is that its all in the injury. From the Hardaway, to McGrady, Dwight Howard, and even dwane wade and derick rose from their prime all of a sudden fall into oblivion. Injury is not a matter of just getting in. Once that part of the body is damaged it will be marked by the body. Usually wear and tear in the body take a toll thats why players who is injured prone always reoccur. While the likes of Lebron James and Vince Carters are rare they can fly and still come back every game with an unbelievable athletiesidm day in and out. One possible is genetics.
He was probably sick of his teammates fucking up his knees lol. He was the best center in the league for a brief period and he was easily the best offensive center at the time. It takes a certain mental fortitude to constantly suffer injuries, especially fluke injuries as a few of his were, and constantly have to rehab. He probably decided he just didn't want to deal with that. He came in as an 18 year old, he probably never had to deal with such injuries in highschool.
Yes very true. He would've been up there with the greats too
That Lakers team was SO weird in retrospect.

Keith Harris well said
I met him about 5 years back at the philly airport while waiting for a connection. He's a dope dude. Down to earth. Shame about all these injuries and attitude problems.
Spineless Invertebrate No easy baskets
Spineless Invertebrate lmao
TheHipHopGuru this dude would have been a solid player if it wasn’t for those injuries
Down to earth hahahaha. He almost kills Barea
He elbow a guy in the air at a momentum so fast with a height 5 8. The guy could have fall really bad on the court. I have seen people who are nice but rotting inside and conartist. Beware.
Bynum was one of my Fave Young Lakers ever! Its a Shame his career ended the way it did : /
Dan the Lakers fan Bad knees can ruin anyone's spirit but hell 2 rings 50 mil and possibly the only person to ever Posterize big Shaq lmao I'll take it
Kurt Kobaine um Kobe lol dru actually played in the 2010 finals and embarrassed the Celtics.

Eddie G how?
Lol
Eddie G lol.
he the reason philly rebuild been so long
Red Leg teams would cut in a minute if you broke your leg and wouldn't pay you a dime.
Surprised to see how much he accomplished in a short time. Imagine what he could've done with two good knees and an attitude adjustment.
3:41 What happened big fella
Shhhhh. Lol.
I thought he was going to be the best center of this generation... Damn
marlow.e ncna atleast he have more rings than drose melo westbrook
Injuries and inconsistent play was what ruined his career but the few times that he was healthy and had his mind focused on the game he was a monster. His size, strength and length was very impressive he also had good post moves and could hit free throws if he stayed healthy and had the right people behind him pushing him he would of been better than Shaq.
Yes I totally agree, he might not have been better than Shaq, but there would definitely be a conversation.
Austin I'm your biggest fan ever!! I have been Subscribed since you had like 35 subs. I would love if you responded! BTW great video.😁😁
Patriotic Pepe lol, better than shaq? dafuq you talkin about?
Savage Videos Thank you ! I appreciate you being a fan for so long !
Patriotic Pepe I agree with everything u said ,except about Shaq
He got his money and quit nothing wrong with that
Andre Rutledge there isn't. But it's still sad that an injury nagged him so much that he had to retire.
Andre Rutledge 🤣😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Real shit
bigbullbk would you rather him play until he walk like Kenny Smith
How is there nothing wrong with That? What is wrong with you?
I guess you can blame his teammates for all those injuries 😂
Lol very true there, I wonder if he'd still be playing if it wasn't for those accidents lol

Surgery for a dislocation dayum
I just found ur channel today and I can't stop watching 😂
Finally someone's talking about Bynum. Lol no problem man that's what these videos are for!
Amir Johnson was in the same draft as Bynum and was picked later, so Amir was actually the last HS player drafted before the rule. Satnam Bhamara was picked straight frrom high school in 2015. Still, your point about age still stands.
Damn got me. Good points though
Wasn't Thon Maker drafted out of HS just last year? I think you ONLY have to be 19 to be drafted, not play atleast one year in college.
Raysean Maulandra yea you have to be one year removed from high school
Andrew Bynum Was The Last High School Player To Be Drafted In The First Round But Amir Johnson Was The High School Player Selected Being That He Was A Second Rounder... Now, As For Thon Maker He Went To A Prep School In Canada & Took College Courses While Attending High School Which Qualified Him For The Draft!!!
Bynum is one of the 50 greatest NBA players. Facts
The Lakers & Kareem really took his size and weight. And they really turned him into an above average center in the NBA. Bynum is a success story, no matter what ppl say. And use to give Tim Duncan fits. Even Duncan admitted so.
So the video is titled where is he now, and your answer was : "im not really sure". Great vid man.
Such a shame to see him gone. He was, to me, the last traditional back-to-the-basket big man and his post game was a work of art.
dinogee i mean technically dwight is a back to the basket big. He just doesn't have great footwork or post moves.
CPGoat #3 him and dwight were are the last bigs in the the game.
I have always liked Andrew Bynum for some reason or another reason.......he is pretty good and still young enough to return to the NBA. and note that knee injuries are hard on any athletic; but I always feel that anything can repaired.
Great video, bro!
This dude had crazy game...but no heart
For real, what could of been
smitty smithers neither has heart.Andrew had a lot of injuries, but near the end it was all him.
Without Bynum, KOBE WOULD ONLY HAVE THE (3) RINGS HE GOT WITH SHAQ
This dude was the real deal when he wanted to be
This concept is really smart bring in a lot views.
He deserves to be in the hall of fame
He was my fave center next to Shaq because of his power in the paint and being a solid center of a team.
He did help the Lakers win 2 Rings, bad knees did him in.
He won two rings, played with the greatest, and mad millions all before 30. I would retire as well. What is there left to accomplish?
Andrew Bynum has so much talent and potential. It’s a shame. Too bad he had so many injuries. But he also did stupid things off the court. He didn’t take good care himself. It’s really too bad.
He always reminded me of that giant who really wanted to be a kid forever. And I’m a laker fan.
what i was expecting.Nice vid btw
dude had to many injury problems but that one year he didn't he was a beast
Bynum was a beast!
So much raw talent and potential
Seems like he's enjoying life which is what you want to see. Because you hear a lot of players going broke. He seems good 👍
Your channel has potential bro, just subbed..
Hey Austin, I really like the music so can u tell me what song that is?
The top 3 most worn sixers jerseys in Philadelphia embiid,Bynum and Simmons
I was literally shocked at the early exit. He was a really good centre
Man I'm not even worried about Andrew Bynum. He's a two time NBA champion and a millionaire. I'd say he's made his mother proud LOL
I think he knew what was coming since his knees went out almost every season it sucks cos Lakers really needed him in the 2008 finals he was a good talent too maybe the last good center
Austin good shit because Im always wondering where players are now.
Thanks man me too ! that's why I started this
I was into it, but you can't have a where are they now segment and not know where they are now.
Knees,Poor Sportsmanship.
But man,he is beast in post game...
One of the best Laker too
Good video bro. This dude blew it
Thanks man, and he for sure did hes still living the life though
Bynum vs Shaq. I loved that game.
As a Laker fan, I had high hopes, but he just kept getting injured and apparently wasn't following instructions from the coaches. Its a real shame, he could have been a great center, but injuries and possibly a lack of desire ended his career.
thanks bro for this video.
Andrew Bynum was a dog, his knees just couldn't hold up. His super short stint with the Pacers he even had a 20-10 game
I hope he comes back to the Lakers and becomes a big man coach!
Actually Amir Johnson was the last pick straight out of HS. He went in the 2nd round of that year's draft.
So he's 29, retired and a multi-millionaire.. I understand his knees are damaged and he can't play the game he loves.. but I think he is pretty damn happy with his life. Rich, young and travelling the world.. sounds pretty good to me.
When will y'all understand that money isn't everything
Nice video man, just a tip if I can: Most people don't like to see people getting hurt. Putting the video of the injury in your piece doesn't feel necessary. :)
Thanks! and good point, I'll consider that going forward

"Well we see who _didnt_ get the cutty last night." 😂😂😂
You should do an in-depth video in each nba team
here because of the distant replay on the jump today.
He looks like the Step Dad from Get Rich or Die Trying .
The bowling incident is one of the best things to happen in the NBA this decade.
Damn knees :-(
What editing system do you use?
Camtasia Studio 8
Some people are content. Not necessarily bad attitude you can't judge a man u don't know his past. If I can make millions and become a champ in a short amount of time and retire very young, why not.
Miss bynum

Just goes to show that Basketball is a mental game too. All the talent in the world, didn't want to work hard. Same with Dwight..
HE EARNED HIS MONEY, CAN'T PLAY FOREVER!
Dude, I am interested in Bynum's carreer, I want to know whathe is doing NOW just like the title of the video suggests
Then watch till the end
How do you do a where is he now video if you don’t none where he is now?
My sister met him at Ralphs a grocery store in LA in like 2008ish
Technically there were 6 high school players drafted after Bynum and the last high school player being Amir Johnson.
Before Derrick Rose, there is Andrew Bynum
#KneeProblems
I was at the game he got injured in, damn shame
A beast in his prime but too injury-prone.
It’s crazy because this guy could have still been playing today he’s only 31 years old
The truth is that its all in the injury. From the Hardaway, to McGrady, Dwight Howard, and even dwane wade and derick rose from their prime all of a sudden fall into oblivion. People act like the players are stupid. Who knows what the young man went through? I'm glad he was able to at least get something from the game.
Jøséph Āntön I can understand your position if you know the person.
My school has a hall of fame board with athletes who went to our school and him and Rebbeca Soni both went to my middle school
"Andrew f****n bynum???" 😂😂😂 Kobe
If.. If.. Come own man!!!
Your rage knees😂🤣
Louis Williams was actually the last player drafted out of highschool get your fact's right!!
Too many visits at the Playboy Mansion weakened those knees!
He was probably sick of his teammates fucking up his knees lol. He was the best center in the league for a brief period and he was easily the best offensive center at the time. Damn Kobe was getting dudes hurt, I remember when he got Steve Nash hurt!
Knees can kill your career
I saw him at my bank a couple of months ago , he looked dirty
Crazy how he would barely be in his prime right now for how long he's been playing
Steve Francis, wld be a cool documentary, or Cleveland Cavs 2002 1st round pick Dejuan Wagner...
Where is Richard Dumas from the Phoenix Suns??
amir johnson was the last high school player drafted
Shawn Kemp!!
Amir Johnson was the last player drafted out of high school. Fact
His moves is similar to Shaq. Quick footwork and size dominance. If Bynum one on one match up with Dwight, I would say he will smoke Dwight
What happened to Mugsy Bo and Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning
Have you did Sebastian Telfair🤔
We need bynum in 2k bro
"Just another guy with a whole lot of money"........yeah I'll take that....
Where are they now? Carlos Boozer
Blennys overseas
Blennys he just retired
He's buying more bigen for his head
