You've inspired my wife and I to have bees sir. Love your videos and your sense of humor. Specially love the advice on how not to make the wife angry. 😁
Love from India! Found your channel through Reddit and it's been such an amazing watch.... Really informative, funny and calming at the same time.... Never thought it'd bee this interesting 😂 Great job Bush Bee man
I use a old fishing tackle box to carry queen cells . Put a hot water bottle in the bottom then put pine shavings on top of the bottle then put your queen cells down in the dog bed shavings . Just a idea I use 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️. As always thanks for all your information you share with all of us. THANKS
Love your channel keep it up. Hopefully I can try grafting my own queens in a few years. Want to give it a few more years of beekeeping experience first though.
Thx again for taking the time to show us everything...it is most likely you will damage the Queen if you shake the cells....it looks like you have a lot cells.. thats great...as a suggestion you can put the cell between the top bars...using the plastic part or of the cell lightly separate two top bars and snug the plastic part between the bars...if you have to remove a frame so the plastic part of the cell is not squeezed or cerushed. You may already Know this....as.a suggestion wait At least 20 day's before checking for eggs. I can,t wait to see how it goes.. thx's again.
@@TheBushBeeMan they would have met phil marshal i bought my nuc from him last year , im just trying to get one hive to go right maybe two at a later stage .
We are told that the virgin queen leaves the hive to mate but how do we really know if she leaves the hive to mate? And why would the drones congregate in some far off area when they are always trying to get in the hives to fill their bellies? I don't ever see my drones leave the yard.
You can certainly pull honey if the bees have capped over the cells, because that means they've taken the moisture content down. But even with cells that have not been capped over, if you do a 'shake test', (ie hold the frame on the flat over the hive and watch for droplets), and if nothing comes out, then you should be ok. I often do that on a frame that's eg 70-80% capped. A refractometer is useful too, to gauge the water content. They're not too expensive anymore.
Great video. I hate how people have to always input on how other people choose to do things. If you like the outcome of what you are doing, keep on keeping on. Ignore the naysayers. God bless.
Nice 3 part Series on Queen Cell raising. 🤗 Memo... Remember BBM is in the Southern Hemisphere in AUS. (Opposite Bee season to UK, EU, USA etc...) You will need later Spring or Summer conditions to make your own Queens. AND you need Drones !!! 🐝🐝🐝🐝 Happy Queen Rearing👑
How many be came queen right John and Mark? They should be about on board now laying right? Cheers for the video and making all the grumpy old beekeepers get triggered by doing all the naughty things ;) Stay Safe!
Love you're channel! I just found you in May 2021,and practically binged all your videos. I don't actually have any experience with beekeeping. Besides binging alot of beekeepers all over the world, but mostly the USA. Anyway, just something I've seen on some others videos on this subject, they say to put a undrawn frame in with your cells, since the cells and the syrup gives them the means to make a surplus of wax? Like I said, full transparency, I haven't done this, but I see how hard it is to get nice drawn frames,so it seems a pity any comb goes to waste! Not technically waste,if your wife gets it to make holistic beauty products. Anywho, worth trying? Could be good, could be shit, right?!? Lol 👑🐝🍯🖤🐝👑💛🍯🐝🍯🍻👑
@@TheBushBeeMan: I'd suggest using this thermostat module (W1401). Have used it myself and it is still being used with no issue. You can find it in one of em Chinese website & it cost about £2
Mark I respectfully suggest. not to check on you nucs for 20 day on introducing your queen celll this lets the colonies settle in without too much interference cheers Keith
Those are the oddest grafted queen cells I've ever seen. And a very high failure percentage. Maybe it's plastic cell cups. These almost look like they have been used before which for some reason bees tend to not like at all.
-& she comes back to the same hive! Amazing! 15:50
Glad to see part 3 is here.
Thanks for checking it out

I like your double nuc setup. Thanks for the video 🍺🍺
Cheers! We have a full video about it coming out in two weeks
Nice video. Very helpful. Thanks
Timing is so crucial. . I'm going to try my hand in Queen Rearing this year.

Your really funny when you open hives
Is it okay to pull queen cells 8 days after grafting and place in nucs?
Hi BBM and john glad to see you had a win with the cells ,did you go to that bee keeping queen rearing course on k i ?
Dad and Mum sure did!

If the honey flow finish how long after
before you can pull honey

My queen cell keeps getting eaten. Should I use a protective cage?
Good stuff

I find drumming and beating on my hives really calms the bitches down and then they never rush out to kill me 🤣

That would work and allow them to build out the comb for sure. Thank you so much for binging the show :)
Don't shake the queen cells
You reckon these are a little towie, mine are from the devil then 😂😂
Can't you just go to Queensland and scoop up all you can carry?
You can build your own "incubator" much cheaper!
We’ll have to give it a go!

Howdy BBM, thought you may have left one of your new cells behind rather than recombining with mother box.

better to make your own incubator
Why do you mash soo many bees . Rob.
Seriously? You just shook all your queen cells! SMH!
Vri bad
Plot twist , he shook the queen into that box
No queen there just queen cells
