Tropical Northern Queensland is beautiful with bright colour and (for me, exhausting) heat and high humidity. Most of the forests in Australia are very, very old as Australia is an ancient land. Australia has a number of different kinds of rainforests - tropical, sub-tropical and temperate ones (from north down to south) and The Daintree World Heritage Rainforest is a must to see in that area. These forests are well over one MILLION years old. Please remember to 'slip, slop, slap, wrap and seek' anytime you are in the sun as Australia has the highest incidence of skin cancer in the world. I Iove the good vibes that you lovely couple send out on your excellent videos. Keep enjoying life in Oz!
You are very beautiful people and I am glad that you liked Cairns and it’s surrounds . I love to visit The Hebrides in Scotland. It looks amazing . I probably didn’t spell it right lol .
Enjoyable video, I'm going there in 2wks Inc. Fitzroy Island and doing the Skyrail. The insight into the Skyrail in particular is handy, I had been slightly concerned about the stop offs on the way there & back and how much that might effect time spent in Kuranda. But it seems like the village itself is a little underwhelming and the journey (& stop offs) are the best part. Noted. 😊
It looks like there is so much to do in Cairns. I like the longer format vidieos. It's nice to see more details about the places you visit. That 10 dollar steak looked amazing. I think I would also go there every evening :-)
Always love watching your vlogs but this one was special as you were staying just a few doors down from where I live! Glad you enjoyed Cairns! You were luck with the weather! 🤗
I have been Cairns, but just an hour up the coast is Port Douglass which is beautiful, and easier access to Cape Tribulation and the Daintree rain forest, plus you have Four Mile beach with palms and coconuts and laid back bars and restaurants, the sky train is good but you missed a trick by not coming back down on the old train, fantastic panoramas. Cheers Ash&Kels, your videos are reviving many memories,Cheers.
We wanted to visit Port Douglas but run out of time! We did consider getting the train as well but decided on just getting the sky rail as it was the cheaper option! Thank you for watching ☺️
I grew up in Cairns. As an unsupervised child I swam in all the rivers creeks and beaches. I lived on a cane farm for a while and guns were stored standing upright in a corner of a room much as we keep umbrellas. As a 10 year old child I and a friend would take the guns .303 Lee Enfields and go hunt crocs. Only ever saw one croc, but it escaped before we got in range. The Coral of the reef was so prolific you could catch a ferry to Green Island and walk on vast swaths of Coral. As the pollution increased the Coral died. There is almost no Coral about Green Island now. As the Coral died the Box jellyfish proliferated. Beach swimming stopped. Then the conservation laws came in and we could not hunt crocs anymore. Still we swam in the creeks and rivers. Then development built surburbs where there were cane farms. The creeks and rivers turned into polluted sewers. The sewage pipes were small 30cm wide at most. People connected their storm water to the sewage lines, when it rained the sewage line overflowed into the storm water channels and raw sewage lined the flooded creeks and rivers and turned them into a putrid mess. Then it took a while and the crocs showed up. We still are not allowed to shoot the crocs. Croc meat is white and tastes a bit like fish and chicken , delicious. The Cairns I grew up in no longer exists, it always had mosquitoes, Cairns had no shiny showey man made places, it was hot raw and wild and I was so happy playing in the creeks and rivers. Now it is just a tourist trap I feel so sad when I get back to Cairns, for what is lost.
Here's a tip when snorkeling or scuba diving and you want to see lots of fish around you. Either take a pack of twisties or bag of bread crumbs as the fish love it. When I was 12 I did my scuba dive course and for our ocean dive we went out to the Middle of Port Phillip Bay to a house shoe rock and I fed the fish my twisties. My instructor even ate one underwater 😂. We forgot about the breadcrumbs till afterwards and another diver had them and discovered a big soggy mess in his pocket. 😜 Loving your trip and vlogs. 👍
Went to Cairns many years ago as a kid, I must go back and visit some day. The Kuranda Scenic Railway is probably the main thing people go there for. By the way the watermelon cruiser is quite nice too
Hey! Really nice video, im a tour agent and dive instructor from Cairns, if you guys ever come back to Cairns, you need to go to the Reef properly on one of the day boats, although Fitzroy is a "Great Barrier Reef Island" its nothing on the actual reef itself! Happy travelling, if you need any advice on tours in the area, feel free to reach out to me :)
I was thinking, when you guys did that Roadtrip from Darwin you should have driven to Cairns and continued on your journey there .. so much more to do in Cairns :)
Love watching your videos. You just get so much enjoyment from the sights you see and the food you eat. Feels like being there! Don't listen to the pronunciation advice! I just lurve your accents. In fact that brings me to a question I'd like to ask.... Where do those accents come from? Happy travels.🦘
As a Cairns local I recommend people to try spend a night or two in Palm Cove also. It's a suburb of Cairns about 23 minutes North. There are lots of great Beautiful crystal clear beaches in Cairns but just like in Sydney & Melbourne they're not in the city centre. They're North of Cairns city from Machans Beach, Yorkeys knob, Trinity Beach, Kewarra Beach, Palm Cove. I recommend tourists/ backpackers/ visitors head to Palm Cove or Trinity Beach but number 1 would be Palm Cove. Beautiful beach, lots of restaurants and cafes & ice cream and good atmosphere!! It's worth it for the beach vibes & some downtime.
Sweetie. You need a hat! The sun is fierce and you will get burned to a crisp. Hope you’re using 50 plus sunscreen but you also need a t shirt. Aussies know to cover up in the sun. We went up on the train and down in the cable car. Kuranda is lovely. Love your videos.
@@AshandKels I love pizza mate, but can’t stomach domino’s… I’d recommend trying a good local joint (anywhere) … yep you pay more, but it’s worth it IMO…
We loved spending time in Cairns, such a fun tropical place in Northern Queensland! Let us know what you think of the longer style video 😁

Love the long form guys! Jordan get very jealous seeing you drink a Great Northern and eat a $10 steak 😄
Thank you guys! Haha, it was so good, we still think about it now 😂

It’s such a beautiful place! Ooo I will have to try the watermelon one 😍
You missed the Kuranda butterfly sanctuary! Also, on certain days of the week there's a big arty craft street market too.
Great video guys, looks like a fantastic place. Good to see longer content too.
Thank you!
Love the vid guys thank you! Do you know what was the name of the bar you had your beer & pineapple drink at fitzroy? cheers
Thank you for watching! It was Foxy’s bar, the pineapple drink was amazing 😍
Great vlog, love the snorkeling underwater footage.

Hey pls recommend which would be a better way for non swimmers to see the GBR?
You could go to the sunlover pontoon and use the underwater swimming observatory 😃
Knew you'd love Cairns, I would love to live there.
We really did love it here! We said we could live here too 😍
Loved the video! Please do mention your second hotel
slip slop slap guys always 😊
We do, factor 50+ always 😃

Did you miss the butterfly sanctuary at Kuranda?
There was a butterfly sanctuary?! Gutted we missed that 😩
Haha Yes there's quite a few things at Kuranda from The Butterfly Sanctuary & the wildlife park & you can get on a speedboat and tour in the water!
@Ash and Kels there is Koalas, crocs, a bird Sanctuary that you can let them sit on you, really cool. You kinda missed the best spot
OH NO Ash & Kels - you didn't go to the Butterfly Sanctuary at Kuranda?? D'OH - Go Back!!! (LOL)
😅 we didn’t realise there was one!
I enjoyed your vlog but I refused to watch it until I had eaten, I'm glad I did
Haha, we always end up eating some good food in our videos 😅 thank you for watching!

We went up on the train and down in the cable car. Kuranda is lovely.
Love your videos.
We make sure to wear plenty of 50 + sunscreen that we bought here in Australia to make sure it was strong enough ☺️ thank you so much for watching!
Lived there for 3 years. Very hot and high humidity. Lots of bugs, snakes and rain..
Thankfully we didn’t see any snakes!
What software did you use to edit?
iMovie 😅😅😅
People also take the train back.
This is something we weren’t aware of 😅
Domino’s is the only pizza I’ve found that is IMO such poor quality that it’s not worth the deals…
Really? We’ve found the quality to be pretty good for the price we paid! We haven’t had a bad one yet!

My sister Michiko Okuyama was murdered in Cairns, it has an evil underbelly.
The things I like about you.
🥰🥰
Great video but Cairns is pronounced ' Carens ' !
thanks 😅
