My grandfather, On Nov 28 1958 was standing at the foot of the stage about 6ft from Wanda and later that night got to talk and meet with Wanda. Seeing this video brought back a lot of fond memories. He was 18 yrs old during Wanda performance and today going to be 79 yrs old now.

Wanda Jackson - too beautiful for words. And she still looks damn good today. Her voice is still as strong as ever too. That fiddle player is pretty fine too, plus she plays a mean lick in the intro that she repeats in her solo. Some immortals in the band there as well ; Joe and Rose Lee Maphis, and of course Merle Travis also.

I saw Wanda Jackson at a long defunct amusement park called Craterville, at Lugert Reservoir near Altus, Oklahoma. It would have been right around the time of this taping, because I was about five years old. She picked me up and gave me kiss on the cheek, and said I was adorable...I was in love lol :-)

@@isorokudono the song is considered country, but Wanda was rockabilly at the time. Plenty of rock and roll singers and rockabilly singers sand country tunes and country singers sand rock songs. Everything back then sounded a lot alike, hence all the crossover hits. Funny, it is the same today but without the crossovers.

Back when Compton was a hillbilly town. I can still remember the Dance hall from when I was a kid. "Burt "Foreman" Phillips, himself a bandleader had been promoting country and Western barn dance programs at the old Town Hall building, situated at 400 South Long Beach Boulevard in Compton." My uncle just loved the old TV show which was on KTTV Channel 11.

Pick me up on your way down. “
    Martina McBride
You were mine for just a while,
Now you're puttin' on the style
And you've never once looked back
At your home across the track.
You're the gossip of the town
But my heart can still be found
Where you tossed it to the ground.
Pick me up on your way down.
Pick me up on your way down,
When you're blue and all alone
When their glamor starts to bore you,
Come on back where you belong.
You may be their pride and joy,
    But they'll find another toy
And they'll take away your crown,
So Pick me up on your way down.
    .....music.....
    They have changed your attitude,
Made you haughty and so rude,
Your new friends can take the blame,
Cause Underneath you're still the same.
When you learn these things are true
I'll be waiting here for you,
When you tumble to the ground
Pick me up on your way down
Pick me up on your way down,
When you're blue and all alone
When their glamor starts to bore you,
Come on back where you belong.
You may be their pride and joy,
    But they'll find another toy
And they'll take away your crown,
Pick me up on your way down.
