how some adjustments to the landscape can completely transform how this house feels

- in Feng Shui the entryway is very important. because of the way this house is built, it's entryway is along a side road that seems impossible to fix, here is how we managed to completely transform it with a clever move!

I love how this guy always ends with proving his point
Now you know!
Love your interior explainations; however, I have an immediate need for your exterior explainations. This was a good one. Would others who watch be interested in how to handle a slope going down to the road from the front of the house?
I second this idea! 🙋♀️
Oh I need to know this one
upvote this please. we haven't had any video about slopes
Yes!!!
Would like that too, until then, few ideas :
- build retaining walls or terrace the slope to create multiple levels. This helps to slow down the downward flow of energy and provides more balance
- Instead of having straight pathways leading directly down the slope, consider incorporating gentle curves or meandering paths. Curved pathways help to slow down the energy flow and create a more harmonious and inviting entrance to your home.
- Use plants and landscaping elements strategically to soften the slope and add visual interest. Planting trees, shrubs, and flowers can help anchor the energy and create a sense of beauty. Choose plants with rounded or flowing shapes to counteract the downward energy of the slope.
- Adequate lighting is crucial for safety and to enhance the energy flow. Illuminate pathways and staircases to ensure visibility during the evening hours. Consider using soft, warm lighting to create a welcoming ambiance and break the threat of not knowing where you when you go up or having to fall into the dark flow of the road directly.
- If possible, incorporate a water feature into your landscape design. Water can help to balance the downward energy of the slope. A small pond, fountain, or even a simple water feature can introduce positive energy into the space and create a sense of "flatness" and calm
- Place symbolic objects at the front of your house to attract positive energy and deflect any negative influences. Anything that creates a first barrier to the road flow and something you are eager to go to instead of the road
If you make all of this in a harmonious way with you home and environnement you can turn a threatening slope into a terrace garden that will softly get you in and out.
I was like “what can he possibly do with this mess?” And then I was like “OMG I love it!”
I was thinking "the only solution would be to totally demol- *oh*...!"
I was expecting a curve but that roundabout took me by surprise, nice touch. I would put a fountain there to break the view and add some flow control with flowers around it and maybe a gate at the very entrance just to break the flow even more.
What's cool is if you think of classic Victorian houses, at least in films and now that I think about it a few castles in France I've seen, this is exactly what they do! A roundabout that is in front of the main entrance and drives off to some parking hidden at the back, and yes typically a fountain in the middle of a circle of flowers in the middle of that roundabout!
A fountain would be hella expensive, and a gate would make it cumbersome without providing much utility or comfort, instead making you feel like your driveway is a prison
@@p_toI was thinking the same thing. As soon as he said "roundabout" images of houses and castles with roundabout and a fountain at the center started flashing in my mind
@@aeizn1012a small fountain wouldn’t be too pricey and a faux gate (brick and iron work on both sides, skip the actual swinging gates) could get it done.
Love this! Please share more landscaping feng shui videos!
Too much fast moving energy is right! I always hated the idea of living in a house right on the street or at a corner with the energy getting plucked away by anything that went past from the wind to people to cars! Similar effect with this driveway.
I've just realised that a round rug in my middle reception room downstairs (dining room) would work as otherwise the ground floor is in one long strip. I'm going to try it 😁
I photoshopped a rug on to a picture and it looks cool so I'm going to do it
@@psychedelikchameleondid you do it? Like the results?
I like how at the beginning I'm either like "oh wow that's horrible I can't wait to see how he fixes this one", or"that's already pretty good how can he improve that". In the end he always manages to make both the seemingly perfect, and the seemingly impossible much better. Keep up the great work.
That's pretty cool. Weird how they overlooked this. Like in the big movies where rich people are on the screen there's always some kinda small roundabout looking road in front of the big manor.
I don’t think I will ever have enough of feng shui. Plz keep it coming. The more the merrier. Thank you. 🙏I have applied your knowledge to my place and it feels so right and so good. Now I know what the command position is without a second thought.
Love it. I wanna put a fountain or pond in the center of that roundabout
since starting to watch your life-changing instructionals I've transformed a few places in my house, I should sign up for a living room makeover!
This guy is so good! Wouldn’t have thought of that in a million years.
Absolutely love your content! More of EVERYTHING please! 😊
Beautifully done! The main thing I got is how to handle the incoming energy, and then you are free to landscape.
I can usually follow along with your points, but not here. I'd find this an annoying entryway. A roundbaout feels like a traffic guidance thing, to me - it'd feel like I'd installed a traffic light on my own property. It implies busy roads. Also, I'd suddenly have to do sharp turns to get in and out of the garage.
Why not introduce a much gentler curve past the house? It seems to already have a bit of a curve there - why not simply remove some of the tarmac close to the house to make a narrow, gently curved road over to the garage?
Or, if you can't get rid of the tarmac for some reason, why not cut some holes and plant some trees in it? Something with dense cover that can provide lots of shade, like chestnut or something. Make it feel like a courtyard. That'd also slow things down.
Loved this video! Yes to more landscaping 🙏
The improvement is truly amazing. The energy changes so much
As a landscaper, I appreciate this so much! Please do more landscape fengshui! ❤🌻
Didn't even know it was a mass till he fixed it. 😮
I need soooo much help with landscaping! I can figure out the soil, best plants, etc. but figuring out the basic shape and layout of where to put all of the plants seems impossible to my brain for some reason. It’s been holding me back for several years now. 😭
I'm nobody, so my advice is worthless. But here goes: Don't worry about "the best." You'll never know what that is. What you like is the best. Go with what you like. Make a decision and go with it. As far as planning the layout, get an aerial shot if you can. Borrow a drone and get a top down view, like what's in this video. Even Google satellite view might work. It will give you a starting point to plan things out. My family had a landscaping business and I did a bit of landscape design. That view (or even drawing it out on paper) makes things much easier. I always used the paper with the little squares on it. It helps with keeping things to scale (helpful, but not required.)
for plantings, the easiest way to not end up with something you dislike is to follow 4 main rules. First 1 is most important, last 3 are common sense-ish.
1. Try not to have any straight lines between your laid out plants. If you are planting beds of plants, you want a very natural landscape, so always stagger your plants so there are no more than 3 in a line from any direction. This is especially important in the front of a bed, if you have a line of plants at the front edge of your bed, it will feel like a greenhouse assembly line rather than a garden bed.
2. From front to back, plant small to large. You want your smaller plants to take up more visible, focal areas and not get drowned out by the larger plants. It adds nice smoothness to a scape, and keeps the plantings flow well.
3. Plant for the size plants will become, rather than their current size. This is probably most obvious, if you buy some grasses that will grow to 10x its potted size, don't put anything close to it, or else it will get swallowed up. You can directly challenge this rule, but you should only do it intentionally, with annuals or short lived plants in order to make the initial planting and first few months of the beds life look better.
4. Plant with color palates in mind. If you go for a variety of colors, despite what you think, mixing colors generally isn't going to turn out all that good. Everyone likes to envision the fireworks of color from a plot of wildflowers, but complimentary colors are called that for a reason. There are many different ways to achieve this, whether it's carving out sections for each major color group, or going for color groupings like warm/cold, pastels, etc...
Also, as an extra tip/plea, go for something either natural or beneficial to your local environment if you can. Native, Native, Native! Pollinators!
Triangulate similar plants in multiples of 3. Create drifts of similar plants. Study Gertrude Jekyll flower border. Lay out your paths using the cow paths already there. Think about how streams meander. Paths are wider and stair steps are deeper and lower. Your going to have a great garden!
Yes landscape fengshui!!! Please do more of these, I love it!!
Can this man be any more adorable?
Absolutely spot on 👍🏻 It looks so much better 💛
Id love to see more landscaping videos 🙏🙏
I like that the small center in the roundabout is able to be straddled over by the vehicle so that traffic flow pretends to be moved but really hasn't.
At least that's how my husband would drive. 😆
Interesting how introducing an obstacle can make it feel more welcoming. At the cost of practicality, though.
Unfortunately unless this photo is deceiving- the large concrete landing is probably needed to turn the vehicals around. Especially considering the size of the garage im assuming we are talking about multiple mid/large size vehicles. Not to mention if a trailer is ever used. We own a farm and a large "landing" is almost always a universal nessesity in these situations.
Please upload more! I always love all your videos
I hope I can reach you when it is time to build a house!
More landscaping!!!! Thank you!
And just like that, you improved the look and increased the value.
Thank you for doing what you do and posting these videos. Your passion and the excitement in your voice is inspiring.
How I wished you could visit me and help me get our home and surroundings sorted. There's so much wrong I think... How do I block the energy from the front door straight into the wc across from it? It's too small a space to place something in between them??. And our driveway is similar to this situation, but a short driveway from road to our house. Not enough room to make a roundabout. Our front door is hidden from view. I tried convincing my husband to change our frontdoor, but he refuses. And so much moor dilemma's like this. I DO have a lovely guestroom, so you are free to stay with us for a while and help me out ;-) I live in the Netherlands, very rural, with lots of nature to enjoy...
I love your video's, they are so clear and comprehensive. Thank you for sharing and explaining. Love, Bianca
Excellent pencil choice! Blackwings are so good
Ngl, that was pretty amazing. It looks so pleasing to the eye. I know he flavors his lessons with "feng shui," which I could not care less about, but the underlying principles are actually so practical because they always somehow compliment basic intuition.
Surprise, you do actually care about feng shui.
@@bucketofparts No. The origins of Feng Shui are rooted in Taoism, which is a bogus belief system. Just because certain parts of a system map onto reality in some way doesn't mean I believe in or adhere to all of its tenets. These are 2 wildly different positions.
@@SillverBel oh man at first I missed where I inferred you believe in it and adhere to all its tenets, so thank you for making up my point for me. This has been a very efficient exchange. Take care now.

@@oedalis yeah, I have no problem with his explanations. I just don't care for mythological/superstitious feng shui-and neither does he.
Not entirely sold on that design honestly, but it might look a lot better from ground level
The round about seems kind of a pain in the arse to be honest. I wonder if there was a better way where the road was just shifted to the right and a nice dividing garden was planted to separate house from road.
@@dasvenson765 that was my first thought as well
I would prefer a smoother roundabout. Instead of having it "too round". So I would just drive straight towards the garage without having to turn my wheels twice.
Cliff is the best! 💕
So, now you know!
Love the feng shui application to landscaping!
The center of the roundabout needs a beautiful specimen tree shading the tarmac and teasing the driveby with bright color. A Japanese maple? A dwarf fruit tree? a magnolia?
The only thing I would do different is I would widen the connection from the roundabout to the garage portion of the driveway. It’s like you have to stop and turn left. Going into the roundabout from the garage. I think fast moving energy is okay for the side furthest from the house door for exiting, but I agree that the side closest to the house should be slow, which I like.
Just curious if I'm inferring correctly, but are you from someplace where you drive on the left side of the road? To me this looks like a perfect flow to the garage coming in, because I'd naturally drive along the right side nearest to the house. (That said, I'd also widen the part connecting to the roundabout to allow for a fast smooth departure in any emergency)
OHHHHH wait I think I get it now, are you talking about smoothing out the angle of the driveway portion up against the garage itself? I thought you were referring to specifically where it meets the roundabout with that little corner lol
Love that idea. Looks so much better
I didn’t know if you could have space for an actual roundabout. This could work either way
I'm not entirely sure of the scale here, but if they park on the end of the garage nearest to the house they may need a less extensive lawn to reasonably make that last turn into it?
This is brilliant!!
Im definitely more function over form in this case. My garages are my shops and I would much rather have the driveway space.
Agreed, this not only makes getting into the garage more difficult but also reduces parking area for guests.
I would then put the garden road further away from the house so it goes toward the angle of the garage, giving space to the house.
Wow so good! I want feng shui too
If the walking area was a pretty (unpaved) path, bordered by flowers, and the inner circle of the round-about had a tree planted, and some other planting (green foliage, flowers, etc.) to strategically edge the pavement, it would be even better!
Wow you do Landscapes Too!!!
Lovely!
So much better. Now they can plant flowers and add a birdbath or some other feature in the center of the roundabout.
totally agree. love the video. you got a new sub.
What about a breezeway from the garage to the back of the home or a covered porch/walkway?
What do I have to do to get your help with my new bedroom? Moving in a few weeks and I’m someone who likes to plan ahead. It’s a very long room with slanted ceilings, one window on the far end and the door in the middle of the wall with the closet door next to it.
I love how you illustrate the solutions.
Question: what about a house that is next to a school, is it bad?
HE FENG SHUI-ED THE WHOLE AREA
THERE'S NOTHING LEFT. MY FAST MOVING ENERGY HAS ALL BEEN REPLACED.
THE WELCOMING ATMOSPHERE IS HORRIFYING. I FEEL A STRANGE NEED TO APPRECIATE THE SCENERY.
Seems like this assumes you have a small car
oh also that roundabout would make it easier to drop someone off at that house bc you can just turn around immediately instead of having to go all the way down the driveway and back
Love the hat!!
Brilliant
You're so smart :D
Put pretty flowers in the roundabout.
Yah that looks like my next house
A fountain in the middle of the roundabout
Curious, would you do anything different if this was in a country that drove on the left?
I need you to do my entire house. I have a weirdly shaped living room, master bedroom is all outta wack n the corner lot has weird angles with what seems no usable space for entertaining that flows
Thank you, your videos are incredibly informative and useful!
I see that many of your viewers implement this information in their sims games, so do I. It is a free way to try feng sui and in the sims you instantly see the changes, before you do so in reality. Could you maybe show some problems or examples in the Sims game? This thing can greatly increase your view count, I think. The Sims 3 may be the best for your way of explaining, but you can do so in the Sims 4 too.
walking on the grass is gonna suck on rainy days
More landscaping!!
And if you put a tree in the middle of the round about ans bushes/flowers near the walking path you calm the whole area down and create different relaxation zones for enjoying nature
Looks good but one big flaw I see is, once I get into the garage, how do I turn my car around to then drive out? Or do I reverse to the roundabout every morning?
I would put a door on the end closest to the garage and just park in the drive. Use the garage to work, and move the widows to the side opposite of the drive to look out at the trees and not the driveway 🤷🏻♂️
Does anybody know if he does a service with this? An expert opinion is always welcome
Hi... can you create a plan for 2 storey container style restaurant.
Width could be 12 feet.
Bottom is kitchen, total 2 containers on first floor arranged in L shape.
How to make a music studio the feng shui way?
Dear. Modern, I really want a L shaped desk and my room has a bay window. So I cant put it there because I also have a radiator there too. The other two corners are aslo slanted, so any tips?
What about a beautiful tree in the center of the roundabout?
Get cliff any idea on how to deal with bad energy from hoarders next door in a HDB? Besides reporting them that is
I'd probably just live in the garage and park the car in the house lol
It looks nice, but they lost a lot of parking!
I wonder if the architects of old English manors based their work on this
Si cool
Why not add on to the house and connect it to the garage to create more space?
So Now you know ❤😂
How do you feng shui an L shaped house? Thank you in advance.
That doesn't slow down cars, it the second floor of the house that slows the car down
✌🏼❤️
I would have bulldoze everything and build the house at the end lmao haha
Now… i… KNOW!!!’
More grass or green is better than hot smelly. tarmac.
My mom is a landscape architect
Unfortunately, I cant get behing this one. Small roundabout are obnoxious to use on a regular basis.
it looks as though there is not enough pull-out space for the garage. unfortunately it needs a lot more pavement
Kinda weird layout to begin with, why not have the house in the back and the garage near the main road? guess we don't see the whole lot.
Hate to say it but this isnt the best. I think you need a little more pavement added to the garage portion for you to be able to back out and back in more efficiently. Other than that I think it’s a perfect compromise
That does LOOK pretty, but is totally non-functional. That huge garage has that much driveway for a reason - cars need to be on solid surfaces when pulling into and out of the bays. Driving a round-about in a delivery truck would be a nightmare for that small of a turning radius in your illustration.
I agree the house needs more green around it, but you don't want to be walking though mud on rainy days, so a solid pathway should be part of that plan, especially if you have someone who has limited mobility or is disabled (which might also explain the amount of solid surface right up close to the house).
If you want to pull the driveway away from the house, it should follow the treeline to the right, which would open up a triangle of green space along the front of the house for more grass, or better yet, native landscaping to save water.
Do you have an email?
'''isn't that amazing'' oof that sounded annoying. and nahh.. a circle isn't very practical and the ''energy'' is just the way you feel and deal with life.
Maybe better is to hire a teletubbie who is waving every day to give you some good positive vibes, then the circle would fit nice I guess.
Still bad, but much better. Not his fault, though, he had a terrible base to work on
First 😮
That house is a poor design. Why not put the garage in front of it? Now it's too late, but if they had thought it through before, it would have been shorter paths and a barrier against noises of the street. I would have further added some plants to put up a screen in front of the house.
Lastly, what's their obsession with lawns? No shrubs, no flowers, nothing? That's almost like a desert IMHO and I don't like the smell of crippled grass either...
Hey i really wonder what is worse bed towards north or a window behind the bed? i don’t have any other option 🥲
