It worked the first time after I made these changes. First time I used the L293D motor controller. Looking forward to your other projects.
Sir....your actual connection of output1,2,3&4 are connected to pin no 3,6,11,14 of motor driver L293D, but in your pin diagram of L293D you showed it on 2,7,10,15.... So plz change it.

I am trying to make same project as yours but the schematic you have given tells me that Arduino 5V will have 2 connections (one coming from port 1 of IC and another coming from VCC from sensor. Is it correct? Does any other IC can be used for connection of Sensor and Arduino?

You can use any motor you like but not the non geared once as they cannot handle the weight of the chassis and it's components
