    Great video. It's simple, effective and is reversible. Most importantly the marquee really pops with the led lighting.

    I found this very helpful. I’m not sure confident in the wiring department so this simple explanation of it was great. All of my cabinets are running old bulbs currently, I may dive into swapping one out soon.

    • @ScarletSprites
      @ScarletSprites  2 года назад

      It’s pretty easy, you’re just running existing power/wires into new wires. If I have working ballasts I leave them. But when VF finally went on me I just went with this method.

    Great vid, at 4:08 that isn't a fuse, it's called a Starter and helps the arc in the tube to strike, more like a switch. They do go bad often, and changing it first is a good call 👍

    I just put a brand new marquee (and side art) on my TMNT cabinet. The ballast was falling apart and causing real bad noise in the speaker. I was going to put in a brand new led bulb, but I couldn’t resist and tracked down another ballast. I’m hoping that I don’t regret it down the road, but my games never tend to be on for long periods of time so hopefully there won’t be enough heat build up to cause issues. Love that Daytona cab!

    • @ScarletSprites
      @ScarletSprites  2 года назад +1

      Hey, if that solves it for you and it works all original, awesome. If not you know what the fallback plan is. Good luck with the light! Daytona is a hard game to say no to at the right price. That’s how it ended up here.

    Nice video it really shows exactly what to do so good job! I think if it were me though, I wouldn't have cut the original cable. Maybe instead added a Molex connector of the same type to the new LED so it's just a case of plugging it in with the machine original connector (That way it would be totally reversible without the bodged wiring). By the way, I didn't mean that as a criticism in any way as you did a nice job.

    • @ScarletSprites
      @ScarletSprites  2 года назад

      Yes, that’s definitely the A+ method. In a lot of cases the wiring just runs straight into the ballast so I wasn’t prepped for that. From a beginner standpoint probably a little tougher to get into crimping and pins. Hell, I hate doing that too. You’re right though, definitely the cleaner way to go.

    • @ScarletSprites
      @ScarletSprites  2 года назад

      You can see there’s a white band on the top and bottom of the back. That’s where the brackets covers the translite. My understanding is the material is prone to yellowing over time but that the heat and light emitted from the cfl acts as a catalyst for this.

    If there’s a complete lack of a light or wires are these three wires coming from the arcade PSU? I’m from the UK so not sure if this changes how I set this up. My cab is completely sparse so I’m start from scratch.
