i've met too many Ethiopian girls who want to be friends in the beginning and when they realize i'm rich they all wanna kick it. bull shit, i'm looking for a real one. and when i mean rich, honestly i don't even consider myself rich mainly because i consistently compare myself, which is wrong but mostly for fun. im retired now, honestly the only thing that would take me out of retirement and into day to day work is a tech company. by the way i made money from tech i co founded a company when i was 21. investments have compounded 13 percent for my last 2 active years which is pretty good for a beginner. but i'm definitely in the one percent of the one percent in income and net worth.

Just to throw my opinions on here. One, I think that the girls are definitely put on a higher standard then the men and if you can’t see that then you’re most likely an only child or just blind sorry, but I have brothers who got/still get away with 90% of stuff that I couldn’t even dream about. Going out I’m expected to be home way sooner while my brothers won’t even get a all asking where they are. In school I was expected to choose a field in something challenging and they were never told to do any specific career like I was. Two, I think a lot of Habesha girls have this I’m too good for Habesha men attitude 100%! Again I notice that with my brothers and how I’ve seen countless Habesha girls treat them. Because of the constant praise Habesha girls get from celebs and just men in general about their looks, a lot of them (obviously not all) think their so much superior then the boys who get little to no appraisal from other people. Hence making them think they’re better then them and it shows in their attitude. Just my opinion on these topics, speaking from personal experiences.

Ladies! I kept hearing this repeated in the video but it's NOT your fault for having a high standard for any man - Habesha or not. If 1 person doesn't meet your standards, there will be someone that WILL. The standards & boundaries (i.e. he should be a gentleman, be chivalrous, be a provider, etc) that you set for men should not fluctuate depending on who he is or what race he comes from. Don't blame yourself for having standards--be unapologetic about it! At the end of the day, who you choose to be your life partner will affect you, your community, your future children, & multiple generations after so choose wisely even if that means being picky! Anyone who doesn't meet your standards isn't a man you want anyways. Much Love to all of the beautiful Habesha Women (& men) out there.

Mel you know, watching myself back I realised that too. You’re so right! It’s not my fault they couldn’t meet those standards but I guess the disappointment came from the initial expectation. Regardless of who they are I defo wouldn’t settle or expect less just because others couldn’t meet those standards :) thanks for sharing your thoughts ♥️

Here is my input to this discussion. I have been in a relationship with one Ethiopian guy, two Somalis, and two white American guys. Out of all, i found the white guys to be the most loyal, hard-working, romantic, and respectful. Of course it depends on what type of guys you go for character wise as there are bad apples in every group. But me personally, i don't like bad boys, neither do i like extremely submissive men. I believe in equality, sharing of bills, chores, mutual respect, etc.
Culture plays a big role in how men act towards women. I believe that Western/American men (excluding ghetto ones), tend to have very liberal and modern views on realtionships and gender roles, compared to non western men in general. So, they're more likely to go to great lengths to please their women (cooking, cleaning, buying flowers, birthday surprises, remembering important dates, etc). They also go to great lengths to keep up their personal appearances. For instance, my previous American boyfriend used to shave his chest because he assumed women didn't like body hair, eventhough it was time consuming and painful.. So, i don't know what kind of foreign men
other habesha women date, but from my personal experience, those American (white) guys have raised the standards for what i should expect back from a man in my relationship.

This may a bit controversial but I feel like I have a good theory for why Habesha girls may think they are "better" than Habesha men. My theory is that they compare the lust directed to them by West African black men or black American men to the lust directed to them by Habesha men and most of the time there is no comparison which group is more thirsty. Black men tend to really thirst over Habesha woman because of their "nicer hair" and their more Caucasian features. To black men, habesha women are just a cheap version of a white girl and we all know how much black men fetishize over white women. It's simply colorism and self hate . Habesha men tend to find living in the west more difficult largely because of identity issues and the mismatch of the black stereotype.

This is real easy to decode (From the African American view)
I'm checked out some of these East African threads, and I came across some where the complaint was that Habesha women were getting with WEST AFRICAN black men or those of that descend, be them UK, America, or in West Africa.
What I see is GENDER BASED COLORISM AND FEATURISM.
As one of the women said in this video, other groups, INCLUDING West African black men gas East African women up for their "beauty". The women like that, and therefore gravitate to the men who show them the MOST THIRST.
Dark skin, West African featured men are showcased in the mainstream media as HYPER-MASCULINE and more viral - combine that with their "THIRST", "SELF HATRED" or "GENDER BASED COLORISM/FEATURISM"
Habesha men are seen in the same light as light skin, and mixed men in America, as somehow LESS THAN. Yes, they might be elevated (the same as the women) for their "BEAUTY" and essentially NON-BLACK FEATURES, but because of those features they are NOT perceived as MASCULINE, like their West African dark skinned counterparts.
For those who of you who are from outside the US - light skin men are frequently seen as too pretty, can't fight, not aggressive, can't lay the pipe down among other things.
It has been argued that many Habesha men get their idea of BLACK MALE MASCULINITY from African America WEST AFRICAN DESCENT DARK SKIN THUGS. As a result they are seen as "IMITATION AFRICAN AMERICAN MEN". This is another thing that injures Habesha men in my opinion.
Are Habesha women saying to themselves, "I might as well get the real thing" combined with the THIRST that they know or assume they will receive from dark skin West African descended black men.
I have NEVER heard any women discuss their THRIST from East African men. I feel this is in part due to the lack of positive masculine media promotion, combined with these men rarely ever being seen in any athletic light that requires muscles.
Light skin men, Asian men, and Habesha men (throw in Somalians) aka Horner Men, all have the same problem in terms of how they are valued relative to their own women.
This is interesting - but I most certainly see the parallels.
I think the core of the issue comes down to the ideas that a FEMININE woman only looks a certain type of way - "Straight nose, long hair" - as East African women essentially look like "White women dipped in Chocolate" or are the most NON-BLACK AFRICAN BANTU women out of all Black Africans. Combine this with the Hypermasculinzation of dark skin black men, you end up with the situation where East African women gravitate towards what media has ALSO told them is MASCULINE in men. The DARK SKIN MUSCULAR Black man.
These are just my thoughts and observations.

@Jason Young but you know. With what you just said. That argument has been used against all black people from the beginning of time. That we are all the same. Africa is the biggest straight land mass continent. Someone from the very west coast of the continent is not going to be too much like someone from the East. The same with the very southern part. I agree with you that we are all black and we stem from the same continent. The way in which a lot of us have evolved as way different. Geography and how much of an influence the neighbors on the next continent are heavily influence this. In the north they had Rome just across the sea and Isreal a skip beat away. In the horn, you see the difference in miles with us and Yemen and company. The south of Africa and the west are the only parts I've seen that are the most indiginous from the start to near present day. West Africa is practically land locked because it's ocean to the west, ocean to it's south and the Sahara to it's north. The same is basically for the southern part of Africa. I'm not beefin' with you. I fully see what you're trying to say. It's just I've been fighting my whole life to prove not all black people are the same. Then again, talk is cheap. Action is 💯. Proud to say I'm in route to become a U.S high school history and geography teacher. Pass correct knowledge and understanding of all of our race in a way that will go forward with the next generation (the students).

Hot Take! Black American here married to Habesha women from Gondar. Had this discussion with my wife like why you want me (over uncle Hagus)? Here is what I think about why Habesha women are dating out... Imitation. When Ethiopians come to the States or UK they lose some of their culture and often times imitate the prevailing black culture (black American or Nigerian in the UK). If Habesha culture is indeed superior as many of the commenters below believe, there would be no need to assimilate and once this is done can you blame the women for going for the original rather than an imitation of the real thing??? I see Ethiopians and Somalis often times attempting to act like black Americans; why? What makes you all special is your cultures, once you lessen or diminish this you are not as special. The problem though is, black American culture is soooooo strong (probably the strongest there is or second to white American culture).

If I had a daughter by one of you and she looks like you, will she be treated like trash as well when she grows up? @@jacoreywilliams5924 I think just as we hold white people accountable for not building anti oppressive culture, its important you hold yourself accountable for not building anti oppressive culture and community for Black Americans. You cannot operate as an individual outside your community. This is why building community, not trying to make yourself an exception matters. Otherwise its replicating white supremacist individuality, individualism, exceptionalism ideas, that strip individuals of responsibility for building a collective. Community matters. And your women are horrendeously disrespected in a way no one on planet earth has ever seen done. That is something not being handled in community but openly discussed, showing no worth to invest in selves, protect own interests, not give pearls to dogs as bible says. We treat people as individuals - and someone abandoning themselves from their community says a lot about an individual. Our collective unity means each carrying our own load and empowering each other to support wherever we are - not avoiding collective issues. if the collective isnt good - there is no desire to do anything until the collective is often - so why not here? This says a lot about not fighting own battles. Youre not excluded we love you all. We feel you exclude us tbh by not eradicating antiblackness in yourselves first as a first community goal. Youre thinking of what you as an individual gain. yet when you send the message to get individual gains to exclusion of your community's position, this results in us - particularly habesha women due to misogynoir, receiving the most antiblackness - from other women, and that leaves us vulnerable to all sorts of social vulnerabilities. there is no acting outside our collective communities - we have to build there and then together, to reach pan Africanism. the boundaries are for safety, i feel you understand this, and are willing to not only harm your own people, but us, and leave us with the consequences. this is selfish not loving. its very dangerous.

wisdom and discretion based on the Word of God is more beautiful than what’s on the outside! A heart that loves the Lord. Value inner beauty not outer beauty, External beauty will fade, We all know that our physical bodies erode and deteriorate over time-but inwardly, we are daily renewed through the life-giving Word of Christ. each day our inner beauty can blossom. The Bible says that our focus doesn’t need to be our external appearance, but instead we need to focus on having a quiet and gentle spirit. And when you look to find a spouse, look for someone who strives to seek God in all they do. Cultural norms and traditions come and go, But the Word of the Lord endures forever. Early in the relationship connection, express your desire to avoid premarital sex. When you express your desire to want to honor God with your sexuality before marriage, this won’t be a shock to a real Christian. That is just a basic biblical command all true Christians must follow. But if you say this to someone who is just pretending to obey the Bible, they will leave you quickly because they will not be willing to wait until marriage for sex. Someone can deceive you with words. But when you see their obedience to the Lord that matches their words, then you know they are trustworthy. They need to be visibly producing the fruits of the Spirit because this is a mark of a true Christian. Anyone can claim to be a Christian. And we can’t know someone’s heart. So the Bible says we are to evaluate people by their actions. Christians will not be perfect, but they will be bearing fruit that is evidence of their true salvation.
    Hebrews 13:4
Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge."

To any woman(not only habesha) reading these comments, it's okay to have standards. If you're attractive, educated, hard working, romantic, sensible, etc, why would you settle for someone who is not equally that. Men are often more vain than women. They often chase after beautiful women, rather than good characters, even when those women are out of their leagues. However, if a woman rejects a man for not being her type, then she is called "stuck up". Are you guys saying that you'll accept any woman who shows interest in you, regardless of how she looks? because if you're not, then you're simply a hypocrite.
