Mark Strong for a AAA title I get, but for an indie dev like this? I wonder when Henry Cavill might do a cameo in a mobile game.
Apparently there's an entire mechanic that bricky missed the entire time he played. Apparently using the melee chain sword works like the meat hook in doom maternal and allows you to move around and launch yourself at enemies. So there is use to it late game but I don't think he ever did it.
@@DeltaAssaultGaming "Oh, mommy, I really wish I could like this game..." is reasonably close to what I think whenever I boot up Doom: Eternal. The single greatest use for the chainsword is actually to counter those champions Bricky fears so much, actually. Ironically, you can stagger champions out of their charges repeatedly by countering with your own sword lunges, applying the follow-up for a fraction of a second, and jumping backwards before they can recover and slap you with their regular melee. Repeat until dead, and as a bonus, once the champion is low on health you can keep the sword attack going to overkill and gib him, preventing resurrection.
I want to see new characters added - Iron hands, black templar, etc. and some new weapons/melee weapons along with new enemies. A map system is a fantastic idea as well. I hope they update it in the future and take the feedback from players to heart
I do think the game is so close to perfect, literally a few enemy types, maybe a power sword or Thunder Hammer and a map and it would be an easy 9/10. Also the weapons that you don’t have does give some variety and problem solving but hard to feel unless you just start each section on its own.
The only "ball-busting difficulty" of Boltgun is knowing when you're actually taking serious damage... I go from 250 to 95 HP and only let out a tiny grunt that gets completely muffled under all gunfire. No red screen flashes, no screen jitter or shake. You only know you're hurting when you're sitting at like... 10% HP and get a red border on your screen. But otherwise it's amazing. Player damage feedback is pretty much my only gripe with it. Edit: I kinda wish we were seeing Bricky's gameplay instead of all the promotional trailer footage again. Can't tell you how many times I've seen nurglings getting absolutely melted by a volkite beam on that split staircase.
Imagine a game like boltgun or Space marine, where you can choose any of the astartes chapters....AND EACH HAVE THEIR OWN SET OF TAUNTS. Imperial Fists= your grave will be the foundation i will build! Blood angels= AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Blood Ravens= That piece of technology will be mine, HERETEK Black Templar= You underestimate the amount of ROPE i have! Space wolves= Run you down with the pride! Iron hands= You are made of flesh and flesh is WEAK Salamanders= Purge you in fire, PURGE YOU FROM EXCISTENCE Grey knights= [REDACTED] Celestial Lions= Armageddon was not my end, but your end will come NOW we can make hundreds of these
The omnissiah upgrade does upgrade the gun semi-permanently (It lasts the entire mission). The only issue is it affects every gun differently. It's best on the boltgun with an increase in STR and 20 extra rounds in the mag which also increases the amount of special ammo you get for it like vengeance rounds. I do wish there were perma upgrades though. Maybe in a future DLC
I found a very niche use for the chainsword when you rev it for a while it locks on the nearest enemy and slows time; you can use it to change your momentum and dogde enemies
Yes, the charge needs invincibility frames. We need more weapons, Power Fist, Lightning Claws, Flamer!, Marksman Bolt Carbine, Missile Launcher! While some progression would be hard to implement lore-wise, even new melee finisher moves would have been cool. Perhaps a choice of a Jump-pack of the Assault Marines, or Tech-Marine arm that could drop a turret, or an apothecary armor with some HP regen active ability?
Definitely am enjoying this game. I was kind of 50/50 on the warp labyrinth puzzle mission because I was stuck on it for what felt like a good 30 minutes (It was only like maybe 10 minutes at that) but when I found the exit I kinda thought to myself "Easier than that puzzle in Dante's Inferno
I came in at a learning curve, having NEVER played a retro shooter or any game of this style. So, I did not experience the same scaling difficulties or grind as some players... as I spend every minute fighting for life XD but MY EMPEROR this is the space marine experience
I want to see more games with this artstyle blending perfection. It has the modern HD pixel art done with voxels putting both Doom's hybrid-2D roots and Quake's 3D models in that sweet spot. There are other games that have tried, but clearly nothing has gotten to where Boltgun gets.
honestly, give me an army combat vehicle game with tau, anything admech related and a necron "powerwash sim" but its life on your tombworld game in this style exactly. considering how "easy" on the graphics this is and how powerful pcs are today this could be soooo amazing.

I just got into Boltgun, and I didn’t realize just how terrifying they are until one of them turned the corner and ran at me from the end of a hallway. Always keep ammo in the Heavy Bolter…. Always
15:03 I disagree, the chainsword can help you grapple to enemies and charge let's you jump further so basically I'm saying - theres some advanced movement mechanics you can do, for instance: Charge+jump+chainsword a heretic. I completed the game on exterminatus, I see why you would say that but the chainsword isnt completely useless, there has been occasions where I used the slowdown effect of the chainsword to plan my next move. If anyone is struggling to complete the game on exterminatus I'd recommend you learn at least where the secret vortex grenades are because it helps with the boss encounters. And manage your hp and contempt pickups, grab them when you're low, not when you have 199 hp. And literally ignore enemies when possible because the increased spawns will waste your ammo, hold down shift and just RUN, bunny hop to the end of the level. oh yea, not having a map was weird, I agree on that.
i gotta say the chainsword and dash are insanely good even on exterminatus, i played my first playthrough on exterminatus and both of those abilities are just insane mobility
Not only are you playing a named ultramarine, you’re playing MALUM MOTHERFUCKING CAEDO. His name translates to “Kill Evil”. So I ain’t mad that he lives up to his namesake
Actually there is a bit of a perk to using chainsword, when you’re charging with it you will I-frame through any attacks. I learned this when chain swording an exalted flamer.
Here’s an idea list for every weapon upgrade that I thought up (simple, sure, but it’s a boomer shooter. The point of them kinda is being simple and dumb fun!) Melee: bricky already covered this, with both the power sword and the thunder hammer, but maybe toss in the lightning claws as well? Boltgun: faster reload(?)(Not sure about what upgrade would make sense) Shotgun: give it AP -1 at practically barrel stuffing range (basically make it so that you either do flat percent more damage or toughness -1, and barrel stuffing range is pretty much jamming the gun in their face) Plasma gun: upgrade that gives you ~5-15% more max ammo, and also makes the gun handle overheating better (so give it a couple more consecutive shots before the gun explodes in your hands, and make it faster at cooling down by 10-40%) Heavy bolter: probably an upgrade that reduces the bullet spread by like a fourth or a half of what it is now, and maybe 5% more damage alongside? Vengeance launcher: upgrade that lets you carry more grenade rounds, and lets you use new rounds (like krak grenades, plasma grenades, volkite grenades, stuff like that. Also I don’t know which grenades the vengeance launcher already has, so I’m sorry for repeating any currently implemented ammo types when I post this!) Volkite gun: give it an upgrade that you can toggle that lets it target multiple enemies at once but you split the power of the gun between each target you’re attacking (I’d say let it cap at 4 or 5 enemies max, so if you shoot 2 marines with it, they’re both taking 50% of the damage that they would’ve if you just shot each one individually) and give it an increase in ammo cost per enemy targeted (not much, but 2-4% more ammo used per each enemy target past the first one seems a bit fair I think?) Melta-gun: upgrade that gives you more max ammo and lets you do like a charge shot fireball attack(how better to tell the aspiring champion to go back to hell than by shooting him back in with a fireball!) though it definitely wouldn’t be quick or cheap to do Grav-cannon: no damn clue! Any ideas? Also why not add in a shield/bolt pistol and/or heavy bolt pistol combo? You can take less damage and shoot back at enemies attacking you at the same time, albeit you’d be slower and have a kinda bad gun (especially in comparison to the rest of your arsenal, and you wouldn’t be able to use your other guns with the shield. So either use the pistol or melee weapons with the shield, or no shield at all) though maybe give the bolt pistol/heavy bolt pistol the fastest reload speed(?)

What I love most about the game is that it goes all out and keeps the difficulty of old games. Even on medium, it can get difficult.
yep i played on medium. most stressful fps game ive ever played. im not really used to the really fast pace in boomer shooters. it was great tho. XD
the purges went crazy
My first death was in the 3rd level when the first real swarm starts lol
The next Warhammer 40k game should be a Raven Guard stealth game or a White Scars racing game
well there is an ork racing game in alpha soo...
@@koraxinon4083 That isn't so much a racing game, as it is Twisted Metal/Carmageddon style. It is a control point demo derby effectively.

Every additional Warhammer video I see of Bricky's he just becomes more unhinged. He's gazing into the Warp too much.
I'm a big fan of Rahul Kohli and thrilled that he's the voice of Malum Caedo. I'm actually surprised they got such a famous actor to do the voice lines for a game like this. Mark Strong for a AAA title I get, but for an indie dev like this? I wonder when Henry Cavill might do a cameo in a mobile game.
IIRC Rahul got super excited when he heard about boltgun and they invited/asked him if he wanted to voice act for it.
Rahul Kohli is not famous…
"Travels slowly and has a slow travel speed"
Yes this here floor is made out of floor
It is now my personal head-canon that this Space Marine is specially blessed by the Emperor himself.
One of the reasons I love 40k is because of how over the top it is. When a game dev works with that, I'm all for it.
I do indeed hope that they add a DLC that would be awesome.
Apparently there's an entire mechanic that bricky missed the entire time he played. Apparently using the melee chain sword works like the meat hook in doom maternal and allows you to move around and launch yourself at enemies. So there is use to it late game but I don't think he ever did it.
Doom maternal…
Just imagine Black Templar Only Power Sword Exterminatus 100% Run (impossible UNLESS YOU BELIEVE IN THE EMPEROR!)
"How lore-accurate is it?"
*Chainswords a Great Unclean One in half*
"Ah."
I just searched for boltgun because I wanted to see some reviews and here I am stumbling upon new bricky content 5mins after release :D
When he says “i love you” but bricky calls you “my beloved”
Something tells me that Bricky loves the heavy bolter...
See, I'm not sure. It's obviously very subtle if there are any hints.
Sublte like a brick house
@@maxxcreese9911 oh.. oh yeah im bricked
Malum is a Sternguard who serves under Cato Sicarius. If they can kidnap Magnus from the warp, they can kill off a Lord of Change.
Blood angels= AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Blood Ravens= That piece of technology will be mine, HERETEK
Black Templar= You underestimate the amount of ROPE i have!
Space wolves= Run you down with the pride!
Iron hands= You are made of flesh and flesh is WEAK
Salamanders= Purge you in fire, PURGE YOU FROM EXCISTENCE
Grey knights= [REDACTED]
Celestial Lions= Armageddon was not my end, but your end will come NOW
we can make hundreds of these
White Scars is just different maniacal laughs.
No the blood angels one should be "HORUS!!!!!"
Space marine two is kinda close, but more related to the classes
Your Boltgun. It’s a brutal weapon, from a less heretical age
Your videos got me into 40k and the tabletop. You produce some of the best content and memes. Keep doing what you’re doing 🙏
Sometimes I think the protagonists is actually a black templar only painted as an ultramarine
Thats the only way to explain his bloodlust
The omnissiah upgrade does upgrade the gun semi-permanently (It lasts the entire mission). The only issue is it affects every gun differently. It's best on the boltgun with an increase in STR and 20 extra rounds in the mag which also increases the amount of special ammo you get for it like vengeance rounds. I do wish there were perma upgrades though. Maybe in a future DLC
Plasma gun never overheats with the upgrade.
Never overheats, fires faster, and gains more mag capacity.
Hold up! In the new core rulebook , BRICKY LOOK!, The Emperor has a face .. and chest... And skin!
I found a very niche use for the chainsword
when you rev it for a while it locks on the nearest enemy and slows time; you can use it to change your momentum and dogde enemies
Can even do it mid air. It's basically the grapple hook from Doom Eternal.
11:32 - 12:27 they become this powerful due to the one thing this legion has a lot of, PLOT ARMOR
But Bricky, what if we really want you to sell us half of a shirt?
Buy 2, eat the first and cut the other one in half.
Bricky crop tops could go hard
@@SlippinLaudna brick top
Now they need to make a Warhammer Oregon Trail
5:51
finally someone said it
I came in at a learning curve, having NEVER played a retro shooter or any game of this style. So, I did not experience the same scaling difficulties or grind as some players... as I spend every minute fighting for life XD
but MY EMPEROR this is the space marine experience
I want to see more games with this artstyle blending perfection. It has the modern HD pixel art done with voxels putting both Doom's hybrid-2D roots and Quake's 3D models in that sweet spot. There are other games that have tried, but clearly nothing has gotten to where Boltgun gets.
32, no wife, no kids, IT technician...wtf bricky
I really wish the Devs of Necromunda:Hired Gun had actually understood 40k guns like the Devs of this game did.
I need a game where you play as a custodian that has the same overpower feeling as warframe
honestly, give me an army combat vehicle game with tau, anything admech related and a necron "powerwash sim" but its life on your tombworld game in this style exactly.
considering how "easy" on the graphics this is and how powerful pcs are today this could be soooo amazing.
Power wash sim is already getting a Warhammer crossover, so we are getting there.
10:48 imma steal that pucker line lol
I'm kind of sad they didn't add kornate or slaneesh demons into the mix, but man this is a fun game to just spend some time chilling with.
The ending shows a bloodletter's shadow on Graia and teases that the fight isnt over
Literally anything Tzeentch has a hand in 7:51
This got me bricked so bad
Gosh, the editing really brings this video to another level. 8:03 is a personal favorite.
Also 6:14, "the plasma gun does a lot of damage but travels slowly and has a slow travel speed." I guess he means firerate, but I simply found it too funny not to comment on.
Im sure the Chosen/Aspiring champs where the ones who killed you most. Those guys are terrifying
I just got into Boltgun, and I didn’t realize just how terrifying they are until one of them turned the corner and ran at me from the end of a hallway.
Always keep ammo in the Heavy Bolter…. Always
They become far less so when you realise that you can stop em coming back if you can take em down before they hit you
15:03 I disagree, the chainsword can help you grapple to enemies and charge let's you jump further so basically I'm saying - theres some advanced movement mechanics you can do, for instance: Charge+jump+chainsword a heretic.
Finding a good 40k game among the slop is like finding a rose in Nurgles Garden
4:22 that moment the boltgun is presented that sick, that you do soy face invaulenteraly.
I really loved that part where Bricky said “It’s brickin time” and bricked all over the lasgun of our most holy god-emperor
God Emperor, I laughed for several minutes at the joke with the aspiring champion and slannesh mention. Great job Bricky!
i gotta say the chainsword and dash are insanely good even on exterminatus, i played my first playthrough on exterminatus and both of those abilities are just insane mobility
2:08 *laughs in 3d printer*
Boomer shooter content by bricky? YES
Now I wonder if there will be more

This was a good 20 minutes :D
FOR THE EMPEROR!
3:04 well you are a one man army but only because your fellow battle brothers died during the landing
Not only are you playing a named ultramarine, you’re playing MALUM MOTHERFUCKING CAEDO. His name translates to “Kill Evil”. So I ain’t mad that he lives up to his namesake
I did not know that about his name.
You are not playing as any named ultramarine, you are playing as THE named ultramarine
Actually there is a bit of a perk to using chainsword, when you’re charging with it you will I-frame through any attacks. I learned this when chain swording an exalted flamer.
8:00 Top notch work! You must've been VERY pleased! I know I was!😆

Are... are you stalking me sir? Are you in my room right now, watching me paint my miniatures?
Here’s an idea list for every weapon upgrade that I thought up (simple, sure, but it’s a boomer shooter. The point of them kinda is being simple and dumb fun!)
Melee: bricky already covered this, with both the power sword and the thunder hammer, but maybe toss in the lightning claws as well?
Boltgun: faster reload(?)(Not sure about what upgrade would make sense)
Shotgun: give it AP -1 at practically barrel stuffing range (basically make it so that you either do flat percent more damage or toughness -1, and barrel stuffing range is pretty much jamming the gun in their face)
Plasma gun: upgrade that gives you ~5-15% more max ammo, and also makes the gun handle overheating better (so give it a couple more consecutive shots before the gun explodes in your hands, and make it faster at cooling down by 10-40%)
Heavy bolter: probably an upgrade that reduces the bullet spread by like a fourth or a half of what it is now, and maybe 5% more damage alongside?
Vengeance launcher: upgrade that lets you carry more grenade rounds, and lets you use new rounds (like krak grenades, plasma grenades, volkite grenades, stuff like that. Also I don’t know which grenades the vengeance launcher already has, so I’m sorry for repeating any currently implemented ammo types when I post this!)
Volkite gun: give it an upgrade that you can toggle that lets it target multiple enemies at once but you split the power of the gun between each target you’re attacking (I’d say let it cap at 4 or 5 enemies max, so if you shoot 2 marines with it, they’re both taking 50% of the damage that they would’ve if you just shot each one individually) and give it an increase in ammo cost per enemy targeted (not much, but 2-4% more ammo used per each enemy target past the first one seems a bit fair I think?)
Melta-gun: upgrade that gives you more max ammo and lets you do like a charge shot fireball attack(how better to tell the aspiring champion to go back to hell than by shooting him back in with a fireball!) though it definitely wouldn’t be quick or cheap to do
Grav-cannon: no damn clue!
That’s no champion that’s a freaking speed demon 4:45
In other games with boom-barrels I tend to shoot them on first sight, even if I don´t kill anything important
You say wasted trap, I say no DDM/Dum-Death-Moment
i love the TTS Sly Marbo scream any time an aspiring champion is on screen lol.
