Hi everyone! I'm an American from the Northeast (New England). I want to create a watering hole for people who want to discuss, learn and teach about history through RUclips videos which you guys recommend to me through the comment section or over on Discord. Let's be respectful but, just as importantly, not be afraid to question any and everything about historical records in order to give us the most accurate representation of the history of our species and of our planet!
Having a diverse perspective is crucial to what I want to achieve here so please don't hold back! I want to learn about all I can! Keep recommending and PLEAESE join my Discord :) ( / discord )

The leader before last of the Labour Party was Ed Milliband, who was famously photographed awkwarding eating a bacon sandwich, just reinforcing his public image of being a bit awkward. There is even a Wikipedia page about the incident.

Insane how that was considered a scandal and then the Tories got away with so much for so long.

The joke about UKIP not having a plan for a 1000 year empire is a reference to Hitler’s plan for 1000 year Reich.

Al said if you and me want to look you and me in the eye and understand you dont get something for nothing, but still goes to A and E ( hospital Accident and Emergency) with a cold.

The "A&E with a cold" (Accident and Emergency) quip during the Farage bit, refers to the idea that some like to feel they live by the adage that you should work hard to get what you want in life (you don't get anything for free), but will happily expect to be given all the free medical care that they feel they deserve without question; thus would turn up to A&E expecting their sniffles to be treated!

    Primary - ages 4-11 secondary 11-16
In my day, and Als, it was primary, (or Infants) juniors and secondary. Primary nowadays seems to stretch to cover the old juniors ages of 7-11.

Primary school is for children aged between 4-11 (I'm including Reception here too). If I remember the American grading system correctly, your numbered grades are one behind our equivalent years and so the last year of primary school (or Year 6) would be your 5th grade.
I can't entirely recall when this was filmed (sometime in the 2010s I think, although I'm not certain whether it was before or after the 2012 Olympics) but Al Murray did actually stand for election as an independent candidate to become a Member of Parliament later on in the decade. I vaguely remember watching a TED talk with him where he talked about that campaign.
Otherwise, I did like how they changed the coloured lights on the word 'Guv' to match the colours of the political parties he was talking about, nice touch.
