The best investment I have made is a Kindle! I'm old school, and used to bring 3 or 4 books (I read fast!) for air travel, poolside and late night. I have 10 books downloaded on my Kindle for my cruise next week. Different genres, depending on my mood! What a space and weight saver!
My wife and I watch many of your videos to prep and get ready for our cruises. You mentioned you rarely use the insta 360… what do you use to film and edit?
We love air tags, on our last cruise when we got home we were missing a piece of luggage. We had air tags on everything even my backpack. My husband quickly seen our luggage was still at Ft. Lauderdale airport. I also have one in my car. I am have trouble loosing my car. Stress and other medical problems is causing me at times to forget where my car is parked. Now with the added air tag, I can safely find my car. The best money you will ever spend.
I have most of these items that I use both on cruise ships and hotels!! The fan is also useful if you want to sit out on your balcony and it is a bit hot out there! My favorite thing about cruising is sitting on the balcony with either a cup of coffee or other beverage and reading a good book.
This channel was my no. One go to when we took our first cruise 2 years ago and it made everything a breeze. I am currently planning our 3rd cruise now and I am still learning here. Best of luck to you!
Alana, I really appreciate how you always include links to the items you show us. I have used them over the past few years to research and buy several things I didn’t know I needed. Some of them are useful even at home! Of course if I bought everything on your list I would need to travel with a trunk! 😅
Watching your cruise essentials videos over the years has made my cruise packing an easy process. Everything is organized and easy to unpack on board. I always have everything I need, it’s wonderful. No matter how many different versions you make, I will always watch and find something useful! I even created a cruise tote at home where I store all of my cruise essentials. Imagine just walking over, opening the tote and picking the needed items for this cruise! Packing has gone from a one month frenzy to a week before breeze! Thank you! 😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
This has been a lifesaver for me. Instead of using wired earphones on a plane, I use my bluetooth ear buds with this bluetooth connector -> MEE audio Connect Air in-Flight Bluetooth Wireless Audio Transmitter Adapter for up to 2 AirPods/Other Headphones; Works with All 3.5mm Aux Jacks on Airplanes, Gym Equipment, TVs, & Gaming Consoles
We bought AirTags for our cruise. I now have one on my keychain because I misplace my keys frequently. Great investment. Plus, unlike Tile (which I’ve used), you can replace the battery which surprised me.
I just received the backpack and want to say thank you. It is fantastic and has a lot of storage. It also has an internal USB connector for a battery unit and connects to an external port to plug into. Thanks for the suggestion.
I took your advice regarding the fan on our first cruise last year and I’m so glad I did. It was most definitely needed in our interior room. We forgot to charge it one of the nights and we learned quickly it was so needed for a good night sleep
I took a travel fan for the cabin but never used it! I did use my neck fan while in Ports! I didn’t bring a motion light since my cabin mate is bothered by any night lights, but I’m good either way! Travel alarm clock came in handy!
We cruised around the Hawaiian islands in May in a balcony cabin. We had the ac turned to the max most of the trip and were comfortable. I did notice when walking down the hall, an interior cabin was being cleaned and they had a portible fan on the desk. Our issue was the humidity in Hawaii, as we are from Vancouver, BC 🇨🇦 and aren't used to it. Our previous cruises had been cooler climates, so this was a first for us. I took the microfibre towels and chair towel bands and I thank you for those suggestions. I saw some fellow cruises carrying the ship rolled up fluffy towels around and their hands were full, as they didn't fit in their foldable backpacks. The outlet cube was very handy and easy to pack.
As far as the wired earbuds, instead of buying the wired ones for flights, to save cost, you could buy cords they actually hook onto your current wireless ones. They are great .
We were riding a bus for 4 hours going from Norfolk to Baltimore a couple months ago, & there was (of course) a screaming toddler behind us. MAN was I glad I had my noise canceling headphones with me! My wife wasn’t so lucky. BTW this was after we’d gotten off the Carnival Pride, & the whole bridge collapse thing, & etc.
Have felt comfortable in my two ocean view cabins. No fan needed. The neck fan is an intriguing idea for hot tours. The plug adapter is essential if you're going to Europe and staying in a hotel.
Oh Ilana, you have made me add to Amazon’s profits. I so liked the black backpack you showed that I had to purchase one. Despite a discount it still cost me more in pounds sterling than it did in $. I thought I had ordered a different colour but a pink one turned up. It will be perfect for my November cruise from England to the Canaries and certainly more efficient than my existing small backpacks on the return journey. My thanks to you.
We love our travel fan, which is very similar to the one you showed. Rather than set it on the nightstand, we hang it from a hook on the wall so we can both benefit.
Hi LifeWellCruised I really enjoy your videos. I have purchased a no surge protector flat power strip, Iwalk charger, high speed power bank, digital luggage scale, electronic organizer bag, an AirTag, and magnetic cabin hooks and binoculars because of some of your videos and others like this and I just purchased the night light(motion sensor) from seeing your video today lol. I hope it comes tomorrow 🤗. Thanks for sharing
We used the exact travel fan and travel alarm clock you showed. Both were excellent to have in our room, AND super flat and space-saving in our luggage.
Another awesome video, İlana! I believe I have nearly everything you showcased, and I’m really excited about my next cruise utilizing it all. Thanks so much for all you do for the cruise community! Blessings ❤️
Do you have a favorite cabin slipper that you bring with you? I was told never to walk barefooted in a hotel room. I feel this applies to cabins as well.
Hello. Thank you very much for your support and information for all of us new cruise passengers. Yours videos helped us a lot to understand everything about traveling on a ship and having everything we will need and we didn’t knew. Good job. Keep going 😊!
I purchased the travel fan that you talked about. Its a great fan; simple design, USB plug, works well. Thanks for the tip. This has become one of my travel essentials. I also use the waterproof phone pouch and i love it!
Thanks for these ideas. I try to travel as light as possible, so look for the same items in a lightweight version, such as the travel mirror. I did purchase the AirFly to avoid the wires around my neck during a flight. I really like the cruisecard pouch idea!
From one of your previous tip videos I purchased the night light and luggage tags. Both worked phenomenally for the cruise. I already have the neck fan because of the grandson’s ball games. I didn’t even think about bringing it on a cruise but now I will. Next I think I’m going to get the AirTags. I’m seriously considering the small fan for the cabin. It is always hot in the cabin until we’re underway.
so sorry if you received a downward thumb... I'm at work (at lunch trying to watch you, see your recommendations on utube, and hit the wrong button by mistake!!! Love to observe your recommendations!! Happy Cruising!!
I like your motion light idea because it is always dark once the curtains are closed. I have the travel adapter and it’s been a lifesaver! I like the neck fan as well. Thanks for sharing your ideas and hacks.
I bought the mirror from your last essentials video. It arrived, just in time for the cruise. I ended up using it more in the hotels than the cabin, but that’s because the cabin was better than most. I loved it
Never used a fan before but cabin AC went out and didn’t get fixed until 2 ports and 2 sea days later (only could offer inside cabin)we went on your sight and had it at our house before we got home.
Not sure if it's that exact USB small fan but one similar and my husband LOVES it. He needs it for the "sound" more than cooling the room. Which is perfect for me because the fan noise bothers me. It's a "happy" medium. I like falling asleep to the tv. It can be the navigational channel on the ship as far as I'm concerned.
Thank you for sharing, I found you before my first cruise years ago. I use a lot of your suggestions. I always bring a fan, I use one at home too. I got the same nightlight years ago but it slides down the wall so next time I am going to try it on the ceiling.
Great tips! I use most of these items on your list from your videos and they have definitely made my cruises more comfortable and accomodating. Especially the water proof items for the beach or pool. I recently purchased a phone heat protector pouch that prevents overheating at the beach or pool.
Two comments, expanding on the Cell Phone charger, look into an RLX, your cell ph slides into it and doubles the battery life. Helpful when travel and can't find a place to charge your ph. The other is, like the bag you showed, pack packs. If like us, we use a wheelchair a lot, the shoulder stapes slip over the push handles, makes it easy to carry extra items while pushing someone in a chair.
I don’t just bring one fan I bring three. One for the bathroom, next to the bed, and vanity! And the vanity one someone can use at night if needed. We get the fans that are small and fold as flat as a book
I travel with a portable luggage scale but found that it can turn itself on unexpectedly. To prevent that I keep it in a hard-sided eyeglass case. My last packing adventure had me searching for my cruise nightlight. Thought I might have left it in my last cruise cabin. I didn't. Now I will be putting a permanent note in with my toothbrush to remind me to take the nightlight home. LOL
I like to bring a blacksmiths anvil! Makes repairing those pesky rudders or propellers easy in a pinch! Trust me, the chief engineer and captain will really appreciate it.
What do you use for travel insurance? Do you buy a yearly policy or one for each trip? We’re over 70 so this is always something I struggle about. Thanks for your advice!
I love travel gadgets. All these are great 😊 I’m going in my first ever cruise in January on RC enchantment of the seas for 5 days. I’m excited, even though I said I’d never get on a ship 😂
I have a couple of small USB/Battery fans that I take with me on all cruises. I also have an extra long USB cord so that I can put a fan under wet bathing suits, or laundry I've done in the sink, to help them dry faster. The other always sits on my nightstand.
I love the idea of using the adapter for even more plugs instead of letting the European outlet go to waste. One thing we discovered, but haven't used yet is the AirFly Bluetooth wireless audio transmitter. So it plugs into a tablet, laptop, or even the screen on a plane, anything with an auxiliary jack so you can use your earbuds rather than bringing wired headphones too. We'll be trying it for the first time on our upcoming cruise, so we'll see how it goes.
I just purchased the backpack. I've traveled for years with a small carry-on, but it's got a weird shape and is hard to open and close to retrieve the interior contents. I'm looking forward to seeing what the backpack can do (got the pink for less than $20 today).
I love your channel, and have gained so many helpful hints that have honestly helped us tremendously as we are just getting used to cruising. But I did have some frustrations with the motion sensor light - because I couldn't seem to find anywhere to mount it that it wasn't flipping the light on if we even moved while in bed. Perhaps the one I got was not as uni-directional as the one you showcased here? Has anyone else had this issue?
Another useful video, thanks Ilana! One suggestion to try for on the airplane or other cases where you can't directly use your bluetooth headphones- Airfly by TwelveSouth. It's a Bluetooth transmitter with the plug needed for the aircraft headphone outlet. There are options so you and your partner can link both of your headphones to the same source and adaptors for that weird dual outlet plug on some airplanes. Just got back from a 18hr flight and my AirFly Duo easily dealt with my insomnia and 5 movies, watching 2 with my wife! Small (about the size of my thumb) and quick to recharge (about an hour) via USB.
I love all the tips and suggestions and a title for this video could be tech gadgets that enhance your vacation because all these things also apply to ordinary hotel road trips. Anything anywhere you’re not at home.
My iwalk does good to get one full charge . I must have gotten a dud. 😢 bc others say it chargers really well. But I do love my other charger that has the 3 cords but in! Thanks for all do u for the cruise community. You’ve been a great mentor for me while building my channel.
We got a luggage scale off Amazon that does not take batteries. You simply move a slide lever up and down a dozen times and it powers on for several minutes. In Paris with our last luggage scale the battery went dead and it took me forever to find a button battery and I spent almost $10 on it.
We always bring a small pair of scissors and scotch tape. Also we like having a small thermometer. I'm not a Insta360 user, but I do bring a DJI action camera to supplant my phone and other cameras. For portable batteries, be sure it's 10,000 miliamps or less for airline travel.
Hello, I am a great admirer of your channel and I truly appreciate the valuable insights you provide. I have a question regarding my upcoming trip on the Zaandam. On a previous voyage aboard the Koningsdam, I found that my cabin with windows did not require an adapter. However, I would like to know how many power outlets are available in the cabin and ocean view staterooms on the Zaandam. I plan to bring approved power strips for convenience. Thank you very much and please keep up the awesome work 🥰
Have you tried ordering anything from Shein? I found some of the options suggested from you for my first cruise from Shein and it saved me so much money.
For a fan you are better off getting one of the foldup oscillating units. (Like: Primevolve Portable Oscillating Standing Fan,Rechargeable Battery Operated USB Floor Table Desk Fan with Remote, 4 Speed Settings Pedestal Fans for Bedroom Office Camping Fishing Travel 7.7")For a few $ more and about the same packing room as your example but you get an oscillating fan with a telescoping pole that gets better air distribution. It was invaluable on Panama and South Pacific cruises. Don't waste room with a clock if you have an iphone. Get the bedside charger that lets you put your phone sideways in "Standby" mode and you are charging AND have a clock that will go into the red glow if you want it on all night or you can have it come on with detected motion. I hate to give away this hack away but I bought an 'airtag' wallet and the Princess Medallion fits it perfectly and I don't have to have a seperate thing for the medallion, it's all together and especially convienant on port days when you have to take both.

Elena you should just become a tech reviewer or Amazon reviewer , I’ve purchased the fan, the makeup bag . You’ve got a knack.
So glad you like the suggestions! Lol, I share a mix on the channel & this way I don’t get bored 😂

HAL has nightlights that come on instantly when you step out of bed. Very subtle. But you can see your way to the bathroom, no problem.
HAL also puts out luggage scales in the customer service and other areas the day before debarkation

We got a luggage scale off Amazon that does not take batteries. You simply move a slide lever up and down a dozen times and it powers on for several minutes. In Paris with our last luggage scale the battery went dead and it took me forever to find a button battery and I spent almost $10 on it.
I have a collection of the plug in ear phones from airlines, and excursions that I keep with my travel items so that I always have them on flights.
I always have my travel fan
We always bring a small pair of scissors and scotch tape. Also we like having a small thermometer. I'm not a Insta360 user, but I do bring a DJI action camera to supplant my phone and other cameras. For portable batteries, be sure it's 10,000 miliamps or less for airline travel.
I sleep with a fan at home.. I also carry a fan on my cruise, thinking about taking 2. I need my comfort.
I only bring a hand held fan for port days when I’m outside. I feel like cabins are quite too cold for a fan.
We have both the insta 360 and the insta360 go
Hello,
I am a great admirer of your channel and I truly appreciate the valuable insights you provide.
I think we're going to get the fan. We're used to ceiling fans in the bedroom, so think it will be useful for us.
we bring a travel router (tp-link, it was around $40). It does need a separate anker type battery.
Travel router?
@@amberanthony883 small router for getting on the wi-fi, then multiple devices connect to the router.
ill take a fan to Mexico
