One more hack. I used to work in the travel industry. Pack a piece of paper in your bags that has the dates of your flights as well as the airline and flight numbers. Add your email/and or cell phone. The baggage and lost bag staff folks are mad busy. Anything you can do to get your bag returned to you pronto is a plus.😊 Regarding shampoo and other liquids- if you place Saran Wrap or other thin plastic beneath the bottle cap and then screw on the cap. It makes any bottle leak proof. I’ve been doing this for years.
Every time we travel we prepare an information sheet that we give to our emergency contacts and place one in every bag. It has our complete itinerary with addresses and telephone numbers so we can be reached at any time and any airline will know where to send our luggage if misdirected.
Hi there 👋 In the next weeks, I'll be visiting my son. It's been over four years since I last saw him. 🥺 I'm flying for the second time. Needless to say, I'm anxious because I haven't flown since 1993. I found your video to be useful. Many thanks ❤
My husband and I are very frequent travelers, so it’s really not a surprise that we’ve had a few times that one of our checked suitcases didn’t arrive, but we’ve never had both delayed. So, we each pack 2-3 days of underwear, socks and tops in a packing cube and put it in the other person’s suitcase. That way, we at least have a few days worth of clothes until our bag shows up.
Smart idea for couples traveling together! For me as a single, I always pack a change of underwear and an extra shirt and sometimes a pair of yoga-type pants into my backpack/personal item bag. These can double as PJs, and serve as a change of clothing in a pinch. That bag also has a week’s worth of my medications in it an an organizer. So if my bag gets delayed or ($Diety forfend!) lost, I’ll be able to make it a day or two. Learned this one when my kid was a toddler and our plane was delayed overnight while our checked bags went on to our destination (ON CHRISTMAS EVE!) Of course this has never happened since …. 😂
Oh, and one more thing. Our family friend, who flies a ton business with emirates for his job had Dora the Explorer stickers on his TUMI luggage. Since he doesn’t have any kids and it was totally not on brand for him, I asked him why he had kids stickers on his suitcase. He said no one has ever tried to temper with his suitcase, or steal it. Thieves are more likely to assume there’s children’s clothing or toys, and nothing of real value etc. in the suitcase.
This TP hack may sound as if it’s verging on OCD, but I’ve done it for years and it works. Grab a roll of TP, a pencil and a few small elastic bands. When you’re sitting around some evening watching TV do this: Start winding the TP around the pencil. When you get a few winds, it will be firm enough so you can remove the pencil. Keep winding until you have a roll with a diameter of about a 50 cent piece, or a bit smaller (whatever size you like for purse-size, actually). Pop on the elastic band to keep it from unrolling. Repeat this until you have re-wound the entire original roll. You will be surprised at how compact these mini rolls have become compared to the large original roll. Store all your mini rolls all in a ziplock bag, and transfer one or two to a small snack-size ziplock to keep them clean and intact in your purse. I usually carry one roll, together with a small hand sanitiser and a pocket-size soap leaf dispenser in a little baggie. These mini rolls, BTW, are really easy to pack. You can drop them into any tiny space in your bag, or fill your shoes with them.
@@bevricker4812 Another good approach. I don’t mind the “work” as it’s pretty much a mindless background process I can do while my attention is on something more interesting. The important thing is to make sure you’ve got something with you come your moment of need.
I just rip out the inside of the tp tube. I put the tp in a ziploc baggie. Then I pull the tp from the inside as I need it and I don't have to pull it out of the bag.
Last holiday abroad I took some dresses , t shirts, older shoes. Wore them then washed them and put them in a charity shop then gave me room for new goodies
I travel by backpack only, and always carry a cinch-top trash bag. A man puked on me and my backpack mid flight. I had nothing clean to change into because of this. It made me realize how nasty plane floors are. I now pull my folded bag from an outside pocket and slide it over my pack before sliding it under the seat
@@dhrtiwalter8670--it’s easier and lighter. Just get 1 pants ,2 shorts, 1 formal clothes & shoes. Snickers , sweater, hoodie etc. you can always wash clothes in your hotel/hire some1 2 do it 4 u..there’s also lotion & shampoo provided on hotel. If not, there’s always a market where you can buy clothes & amenities
I do that before it goes through the scanner AND when I get on the plane. I don’t let anyone touch my backpack or purse. It all goes in the plastic trash bag.
Very helpful tips Laurie. One tip I like to share is to bring a few pieces of bubble wrap to wrap your breakable souvenirs. It folds flat and can go in the inner lining ( the zippered part that hides your handles) of your carry on suitcase. This is also where I store copies of my passport and travel insurance. Thanks again! Michelle from Canada 🇨🇦
I take bubble wrap and have it ready for transforming a regular plastic bag into a thermal bag to keep things cool. It makes a soft waterproof cushion for the metal balcony chairs. Great for putting under my beach towel so it’s not sandy. Instant raincoat. And of course for protecting delicate souvenirs!
Hi Laurie. I've used a lot of your tips in the past - thank you. One thing I do, and have told my friends to do, is put something on the bottom of your checked suitcase so if it's coming towards you on the carousel with the bottom facing you, you'll recognize it right away without having to wait to check the handle for your piece of ribbon. I found this out years ago by covering a small tear on the bottom of a soft-sided case with a four or five-inch piece of duct tape. (I no longer have that suitcase - I have a hard sided one that I painted dog paw-prints on the bottom.)
❤❤❤❤❤ I once decorated a solid navy cloth suitcase with splashes of red and white acrylic paint to distinguish it from all other bags. Ribbons can get torn off. Use any colors/designs that will make it look quite different from average luggage.😊
Also, one thing that really helped me save a lot of space is having a very neutral and interchangeable colour palette. Personally, I prefer black and cream or tan with gold jewelry. You can bring some costume cocktail jewellery like a cocktail ring and some drop earrings or a statement necklace and just a basic black slip dress that you could even wear during the day and another way. I also pack my toiletries in little black or gold sparkly bags so that I can just use those evening bags as a clutch
Laurie, Thank you so much for the TSA Cares mention. We are traveling next week with our son who is in his 30's and sustained a traumatic brain injury. He's in a wheelchair, just regular one, but TSA has been SO helpful in getting back to me with the information we'll need and explaining how it all works. It's been YEARS since we've been able to fly with him and this is our Christmas gift to him. Really enjoy your video's and may you and your husband have a wonderful Christmas.
If you buy liquids, creams, toiletries in the departure lounge, keep the receipts. Last year my daughter & I boarded a plane from London to Oslo. Then they made us get off due to a technical problem but they sent us towards passport control. So we had to go through security again. We had proof of what we'd bought in the departure lounge & they allowed us to keep those things (we had way more than the liquid allowance).
This year I was carrying Christmas presents, some of which were electronics. I did a pre-pack of my carryon to make sure I could fit everything. Then I put the electronics (including my laptop) in a nylon reusable shopping bag. Once I got to TSA I was able to put all the electronics in gray bins without searching through my luggage. Once I was through security, I easily repacked my bag.
I’ve been using the mini dual carabiner zipper hack on my purse in pickpocketing-heavy areas for several years now. In fact, Nite-Ize has a locking version (I think it’s called the S-biner Microlock) that adds yet another layer of protection in areas where you’re particularly worried. I’m always very careful about where my bag is in areas known for pickpocketing, but the carabiner trick gives me some peace of mind
REI has a nice selection of carabiners and SBiners, and a day backpack that is stuffed into a small pouch until you need it, as well as RFID wallets/pouches.
My luggage was delayed when I flew to Scotland this summer. Arrived in Edinburgh on Sunday didn’t get my bag until Thursday, luckily I had worn merino wool and alpaca garments. Fortunately I had put a cheap rain poncho at the last minute in my personal item. After I cleared TSA unfortunately I had moved my toiletries bag to my carry on. Because of your tips I had my meds and absolutely everything I needed for two days. I love your pouches for everything, I had my sleep pouch, and a comfort pouch. Sleep pouch had sleep mask, anti acid, and melatonin as well as other things. Comfort pouch had crest disposable tooth brushes, breath mints and eye drops and other things. I did get a few pieces of clothing to get me by until my bags arrived. Love your videos!
For the tape to cover lights, I wrap a few pieces around a small ink pen so I have them when I need them but they don’t take up any room anywhere and I always know where they are.
The post it notes are especially helpful to cover auto flush toilet sensors so the yucky toilets don’t flush on you and you can open the door then pull the post it as you exit. No gross germs toilet water spraying your way!
Love this and the comments! A few other ideas for y'all. 1-collect stronger carry out bags from places like Garbanzo's/Tokyo Joes to pack BPA locking food containers in to eat during flights (eg Snapware, doesn't allow food to squish; also great for leftover meals); 2-different sized zip lock baggies (we rent houses/apts and often have leftovers to take to next destination); 3-strong suction cup hooks in case there's not enough hanging space in bathroom; 4-nylon waterproof beach blanket that packs small; 5-write your contact info on bright card stock, laminate, place inside luggage in case lost. You can also leave copy of itinerary for luggage to find you; 6-a backpack carry-on with several outside zippered pockets - designate each pocket for specifics so you know where everything is (Kroser Laptop Backpack; love the look but zippers slide easily, fasten with anti-theft zipper pulls); 7-Travelon Anti-Theft East West Cross-Body Bag that can fit into backpack or checked-in luggage; 8-two reusable grocery bags for groceries, beach, shopping; 9-thread interior security clothing straps through anything you can, and if you have a zippered pocket inside suitcase use a small lock to secure it to keep theft to a minimum; 11-headlamp for dark streets or if electricity goes out; 12-corkscrew for wine and safety at night; 12-space saver bag for dirty clothes; 13-a few dryer sheets to keep luggage fresh; 14-travel sized PooSpray for rooms that need help; 15-pack necessities and anything you need for 2-3 days in carry-on in case luggage is lost; 16-the last 3 trips we've taken, things have been stolen between check-in and arrival; 17-colored hair ties; 18-goody baggy that's saved our vacations (electrolytes, aspirin, tylenol, anti-histimine, Bragg's ACV for upset stomach and sunburn, aloe vera for sunburn); 18-mosquito repellant; 19-Lifestraw bottles; 20-laundry pods. We have ongoing Xcel spread sheets of items to take for specific destinations (Beach, Europe, Skiing). The lists don't change much but allows us to see what's missing and file report with airlines/travel insurance company asap. Happy Travels!
I watched someone’s vlog about visiting Paris and the pickpockets were able to access their locked Travelon bag while they were on the metro. I use s biner clips in addition to the Travelon locks, which is excessive but so far no issues.
My travel hack is to dress my children in matching bright orange shirts on travel day (and matching shirts of other colors the rest of the trip). It is MUCH easier on a brain to visually “gather” and count your people if they are dressed alike. Mental stress reducer. Orange so they can be easily seen by anyone in any situation at all. Parking lots, crowds, crossing the street in bad weather, restrooms, etc.
Hahaha! I bought my son & myself matching shirts for travel days. I even showed my MIL the color and asked her to "dress accordingly." It was much less stressful for me with all of us in easily identifying, matching colors.
I do that with my husband…he’s a wanderer lol so bright clothes for him is a must so I can spot him right away lol……..I also have a bright orange luggage strap and a lai from the dollar store one the handle. Makes it so easy to see my bag as it comes down the ramp
I learned from another RUclipsr (travels with Sarah, I think) to get a kitchen scale and weigh everything you think you might want to bring. She even takes the scale to the store when she shops for travel outfits. It’s amazing how much you learn when you do that! Will definitely be making better choices in the future.
The diaper hack works - we had our bag rifled through at our local water park. Since then, we put our keys, pass, and the 1 debit card we bring in a feminine pad or diaper. Someone did rifle through our bag another time but the pad was undisturbed. The bummer is that sharing these tips will start to encourage thieves to try to outsmart us…ce le vie
Also, silk scarves take up virtually no room and you can turn it into a purse, head scarf, wrap around your wrist as accessory, use as sleeping mask, you name it!
You have some pretty savvy viewers, Laurie. I love the jacket with straps. My favorite way to pack shoes is individually in empty bread bags. It's easy to just shake the crumbs out, and they're free. Small enough that you can take a few extra in case you've had to pack wet/muddy shoes. Just toss the dirty bags.
When you go to the store grab a couple of produce or meat bags (or empty when you purchase and get home.) They are super pliable. Meat slightly heavier and has printed words which is why I like produce bags.
My husband and I just returned from a fantastic SE Asia tour. One swanky hotel had black out curtains that didn't close all the way. My husband, who uses a CPAP and finds a sleep mask too cumbersome, was complaining about the light. I was able to tell him that, "Travel Tips by Laurie" suggests using the pants hangar. Worked like a charm.
That defeated the blackout curtains if they didn’t fit properly, my friend who I shared a room with insisted having a gap in the curtains, luckily enough it’s in winter and it didn’t get light until 7.
When household rubber gloves get a small hole, rather than discard, I slice them across the hand and fingers into strong rubber bands. The bright yellow ones are very useful for travelling and show up instantly on suitcase handles. 🇬🇧
One request, please don’t put on perfume before getting onto the plane. Many people are sensitive to smells and perfume can trigger a migraine for me which then makes the flight unbearable. One hack I’ve learned if I wash items in the sink, I can use the hotel hair dryer to help speed up the drying process.
I have Mast Cell Activation Disorder (MCAD)in a nutshell if you’re trying to cover up your smelly situation with smelly situation we could be THAT plane that has to land because I cannot stop sneezing, I can’t even catch a breath in between to make that sneeze happen they are that close together. I don’t know if it was due to the sneezing or the plug in air freshener I sitting in close proximity too in the adoration chapel at church but my husband took me to our doctor and I had burns down the back of my throat and nose. My doctor had never this before except from huffing. Uuuhm, I was 55, disabled, chronically ill and just suffered a MCAD flare because of the phthalates in damn air freshener from bath and body works- I swear that stuff will kill us all.
My fibromyalgia has meant walking out of particularly pungent (to me) restaurants and I can’t do that on a plane unless Laurie can tell me how to pack a parachute lol!
I also go to the Dollar store and get those cute little plastic containers that hold a travel-size of q-tips. I use them for all kinds of things. There's a lot of things that I take out of the original package and stick into plastic Ziploc bags. They work pretty good. And I always carry those cheap plastic grocery bags. Great for a dirty shoes or dirty clothes or wet bathing suits etc.
My travel hack is for a long haul flight is to pack a dry face washer (flannel) into ziplock bag and to wet it after security or during the flight. Good to be able to freshen up prior to landing.
I have a small waist pack to hold my earbuds, snacks, reading glasses, powerbank, and to put my phones in during the flight. I have a "Heroclip" on it which hangs it from whatever is available. Just enough to hold the items I want to have handy for a few hours flight.
I always wrap and pack shoes separately, not in pairs. Socks and small items go inside shoes and then I can wedge them into corners or pockets of space. Happy travels!
Thanks for the very useful travel tips! My favourite hack of all is to pack less stuff. That’s after 33 years of international travels, and it’s a lesson learned the hard way.
Yes! I’ve tried to convince my mom to do this, but she always takes more than she needs! Over the years, I’ve learned what I really need to take, and what I can leave at home. Besides, unless you’re going to a remote jungle village, you can pick up anything you forgot at a local store!
@@lisaspikes4291There are a lot of typical items that are at best hard to describe in foreign countries. Many can’t in fact be found. And sizing can be problematic too. Even very petite can find things to wear.
Pro tip- bolt snaps are much better than carabiners. Carabiners can easily snap loose or break, causing things to fall off by accident. I used to put a carabiner on my checked luggage but have had them break or accidentally fall off and then the airline worker accidentally put it on someone else’s luggage (saw this on the carousel). Bolt snaps do the same function as carabiners but rare to pop off by accident
My travel hack is to pick up a nightlight at the dollar store and put it in the hotel bathroom. That way when I’m making my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night, I’m not stumbling around an unfamiliar room. It only took one painful broken toe to realize that! And if I forget it at the hotel, well, it was cheap. It can also be used internationally if you use your adapter.
Lots of ideas for travel. I took a compressed roll toilet paper to Morocco ( often countries do not have enough, like you mentioned) but filled the roll space with socks. The double ended clip you showed has been an idea I used long ago but I use a paper clip and weave it in the pull holes. As for the dry bag for the shampoo bar, it goes in the dry bag I use for my swim suit. You have so many good ideas, it is fun to watch your videos.
As an older lady traveler I bought a buckle strap for the outside of my checked suitcase, it helps to identify along with other hacks but the best part is I can easily grab that strap to help get it off the conveyor. When I have had my checked luggage lost or delayed it also helps when describing to the agent. I have seen bags that the zipper burst and the clothes hanging out so one more reassurance that my suitcase will stay closed.
I'm loving the tips! And your video's :). I always try to travel as light as possible, I'm afraid my luggage gets lost and I can't lift heavy. I was so happy I only brought a handbag to a week long trip, because we had to check-out early and had to haul all our stuff through the city (no storage available). Recently been on a trip for a few months with only hand luggage. I'll share some tips that I've used, probably a few that you mentioned in a video, because people keep asking me how I do it. Basically it's puzzle, play tetris, minimise the amount of packaging a product has and use items you're already bringing for a second function. For short trips: - Toothpaste minis are way too large, I put a bit in a lens container (on both sides on my week trip was enough). You can try at home if it's enough for your trip. - Get a flat waterbottle. The standard round ones take up so much space. I love the ones from Memobottle. - Take a look at the (toiletry) bags you are using, do they take a lot of space when they're empty? - For a two day trip I put some micellar water on a reusable cotton pad, let it dry and reactivate it with water. For longer I fill a perfume spray with the micellar water. - Decant liquids into easier "puzzle" bottles with less packaging (looking at you perfume bottles). For long trips: - I buy shampoo and shower gel at the destination when I'm away for a month or longer. All my favourite perfumes and face cream are sadly also discontinued, so I pack these. You can fit so much in the liquids bag if you organise it as a puzzle, so you make use of the empty space between the products. I could fit 32 products in there last time! Even when some where big and an annoying shape. - Suitcase is a puzzle as well. On the zip-up side there are usually crevices that can hold small items and socks. - Use your clothing as protection for your souvenirs, then you don't have to add additional materials. - I use my hairclips to keep cords together. I need them both anyway. - You can use towels, bags or clothing to protect your laptop. A bit long, but I hope it helps some of you!
One of my favorite travel hacks is get a soft plastic zipper pencil case, keep it in your personal bag. I carry my airpods, a corded pair of headphones (because airpod batteries die), emory board, lip balm, band aid, USB cord and small lotion container. When I get in my seat it immediately goes in the seat pocket. Everything I need for the flight and it is all contained so I don't leave anything behind at the end of my flight.
I hang a bag (like your recommended tray table bag) on the plane for easy access, it always has face spray, lip balm, hand cream, hand sanitizer in tiny bottles. It also has mint, tissue, wet wipe, glasses wipe, dental floss (tiny one, I keep refilling myself), iPhone stand, ear pods + straps (same as yours), old style noise cancellating earphones (for long flight, Australia is far from everywhere 😅), iPad, battery charger and my glasses case. It’s a bag with multiple pockets! Multiple pockets are great for putting things in groups. Tissues and wet ones are Tempo brand. They are small in dimensions, 6 to 8 pieces per packet. It’s enough for 2 of us, all the way from Australia to Singapore to UK. I carry a spare pack each in the carry on suitcase for peace of mind. These are the items I take every trip, so I remember exactly what they are. I don’t need a list anymore. Plus I use an old ziplock bag to hold rubbish mid flight, e.g. used tissue or wet wipes, or ice cream packaging (if it was offered). Rather than throwing them on the floor, it’s yucky.
5:44 I learnt from another passenger on a vacation in 2005, put the crossbody at the bottom. Of the backpack as most good backpacks have enough pockets to hold the passport, wallet, ticket, etc then you can have a mostly hands free boarding. One of my friends sewed a custom backpack to wear in front. So she was 100% hands free. She had a backpack and a front pack.. her purse was tucked in the bottom of one so that she could pull it out at her destination.
Hi Laurie! Merry Christmas to you and your family! One travel hack that I use, is the individually wrapped Neutrogena makeup wipes. They come in a bag of 20 singles. Sold at Walmart, Target or Ulta, etc. Then I put them in my makeup bag or one for the plane in my carry on, in case I need it to freshen up.
My last two trips (New Zealand and NYC), I took your advise and packed an extra set of clothes in my personal items bag. Also was able to squeeze small shampoo, facial cleaner, and serum into my clear baggie. Never had my bags lost, but it was definitely peace of mind.
I’ve always done this. I take a set of underwear and socks, a shirt and a silk sleep shirt that weighs nothing and folds down small. Plus essential toiletries, like toothbrush, toothpaste, comb and all purpose lotion, in my personal bag. If you ever get stuck somewhere and have to stay over in a hotel, as I have had to do a few times, it really comes in handy!
I always pack extra clothing, pjs, and depending on destination a bathing suit and flip flops, etc. I learned to do this after 1st time my luggage was delayed and didn’t land with me! I had nothing, not so much as a tooth brush or comb. It’s since happened 2 more times, the last time I didn’t get my luggage for 3 days. Lesson learned.
@@susanmeredith4957 I also pack a bathing suit in my hand luggage as well as a Sarong. It can be used as a scarf on the plane ( I always wear a scarf because I get a sore throat from air con easily) and depending on the destination it might be the only "clothing" you need during the day.
I flew from Washington DC once mid trip-to visit NYC, New England-my suitcase went to Ft. Lauderdale. We were traveling in many individual night stops-so they shipped my suitcase to my brother’s house in Connecticut-I went 8 days without a suitcase, it arrived the night before we flew home. I did a LOT of sink laundry. I could have bought clothes on the way, but I didn’t want to derail any of our fun. I had new clean clothes every morning-just looked the same in ALL the pictures.😂 That experience taught me much!
I found a diaper backpack also works great as a personal item as it has a lot of storage pockets inside plus some have the luggage strap and hidden pocket on the pack and most hold around 25 litres 🙂
I got myself one of these for travel, too. The main selling point was that it is stiff and doesn't crumple up and fall over when you put it down, but keeps its shape.
Me too! I have for years and I have teens. If anyone is open to linking their favorite ones please do so. I need a new one. Maybe an over the shoulder. I’m not in love with some of the new styles out there. Thanks!
The Toilet Paper Hack. Yes!!! I do that too but I put mine into sandwhich bags. I carry one in my purse always. I also fold up a sheet of good paper towels and put several into a sandwhich bag. You can stuff both items all over your luggage and carry on bag. Great tips Laurie and everyone!
Sandwich bags take up less room. I’ve used a small travel q-tip container. Hard shell. (Think extra gum hard container, but tiny.). Container takes a beating, but paper stays in great shape.
I bought some Little Donkey Andy Ultralight Quick Dry Bermuda Shorts and long pants with Drawstring and Zipper Pocket for Hiking, Travel, Workout shorts, and long pants with lots of pockets. I put my money and passport in my pockets and they wash out in the sink with no ironing. They hardly take up any room. The best investments I have ever made for travel. I am a retired flight attendant and took these on a month-long trip to Italy. I don't make any money from them but my friends and I love these and wear them for everything including golf. I also use the Scrubba Wash and Dry Kit. No more sink washing, it is so worth it especially for longer trips and 2 people.
Great tips! I've been using the make up remover on cotton balls trick for several years! Also, adding a few drops of water to the baggie each day keeps them from drying out. Also, when packing shoes, I tuck small items inside the shoes to use up as much space as possible.
I always use an empty Pringles container. Especially if your personal item bag has a side pocket. I use it when I go hiking as well-so long as it’s not raining.
I pack alcohol or antibacterial cleaning wipes and wipe down the tray on the airplane…..I have seen people put dirty diapers on the tray after changing their babies.
All good ideas. I love these hacks! I personally feel like zip lock bags of different sizes is the best because once your things are used and thrown away you have nothing to bring home, not even a bag. My husband and I did 2 weeks cruising in Alaska and then to Colorado with only a Cotopaxi backpack each. Sooooo much easier than checking bags everywhere.
I traveled to Ireland in 2023 and used many packing tips from you and purchased compression cubes for ALL of my clothes. I knew I would need my coat on arrival in Dublin but did not want to deal with it in 2 airports so I packed coat gloves scarf in a compression bag the size of a book wuth a handle on the end. It was the only thing to grab out of my carry on bag if they asjed me to check the carry on!!
Love all these gems. I love the hanger on the curtains in a room, but my go to was putting a coffee filter over the vent (it would help with any lingering smells in the room) Not everyone is old enough to remember the coffee in the filters for drip coffee, but my sensitive nose always appreciated it. And now I have Glen Campbell in my head, singing "Wichita lineman". Merry Christmas Laurie, and enjoy time with your SONshine.
My travel hack is to NEVER remove your cell phone from the charger in a hotel room without unplugging the charger. If you're leaving that day, toss the charger in your suitcase. If you're not leaving, put it next to the sink in the bathroom so you'll see it. Chargers are left behind every day. Hotel desk clerks usually have a drawer full of them!
Airlines do not always let you bring a bag from an airport store on if you already have a carry on and personal. I have been on multiple flights where they tell you at the gate that it needs to be consolidated down to 2 or checked
This is totally my FAVORITE video ! Great info. On my husband's suitcase (he travels for work) - I painted a pine tree on his luggage with nail polish. He can always spot his bags on the carousel
❤❤❤❤❤ I only travel by plane about once a year, but I STILL love your hacks! Easy to see why you are so experienced. Your videos are well produced and jam-packed with great ideas. You also have an engaging personality which makes me feel I’m standing right in front of you having a chat. Thank you for sharing and for the links you mention.❤😊
Nice video. I have a dedicated carry-on bag that I restock after each trip. Before traveling again, I only need to add clothes, shoes, and makeup, and I can live indefinitely out of my bag. Everything else is already packed. I keep a hotel door lock, laundry detergent sheets, a tiny clothesline, a cooling cloth, a travel umbrella, first aid kit, toiletries kit (a new toothbrush restocked after each trip), bivy bag, mini sewing kit, and a travel Bible. I usually only pack 3 outfits, as I will wash laundry nightly in the sink and hang dry overnight/2 days. I tend to wear thin layers and no cotton, so things dry quickly. This packing style is also very handy if you need to go on an emergency trip. The last thought is, if you have a dedicated setup, you are less likely to forget something.
I use an old fashioned diaper pin on zippers. So many people don't know how to open them! I always take a flashlight. On a road trip through Quebec, when we came back to the hotel, there was no power due to a fire 2 buildings up! I have a flashlight in the truck that recharges in the cigarette lighter. It was a godsend! I've watched too many "Mayday" episodes and even if it's day when a plane crashes, it can be dark. And take it to the bathroom in case lights go out. I have small rectangle glow in the dark stickers I stick to light switches, doors, my book light. Got a sheet of them in a dollar store. I'm going to sew a strand of plastic coated wire to the strap of my cross body bag.
I love all the helpful tips in the video and comments. I always pack a full change of clothes into 1 or 2 gallon ziploc bag in my carryon. Traveling with kids so much it came in handy. Especially when my son spilled tomato juice on me. No worries, just go change clothes rinse and put wet outfit in the ziploc bag. Also kid with car seats, take their usual car seat and bungee cord it to a collapsible luggage cart. They can ride through the airport secured in the car seat. Gate check is easy and you have their car seat at your destination.
@@stephaniehandler5346 Mine always liked being strapped in and watching people as they rolled past. I had more confidence in keeping an eye on them too.
Love these! You taught me to soak the cotton pads with makeup remover - I use the rounds, and cut them in half before soaking, Then, I store in small pill-size zip top bags (Amazon, of course). Got me through 14 days in the Philippines back-to-back with an additional week of domestic travel!
One of my favorite hacks is I keep the Hotel Freebies and they become some of my toiletries. I buy mini or sample versions of makeup and skin care products. So I can use them up while on vacation and don’t have to repack them.
Happy Holidays, everyone! Love this video ( as always0. Travel hack: baby diaper pins for buttons, zippers, broken shoelaces, closing drapes, hanging items..!
Hi Lori, I love all these tips however, I just wanted to point out that my uncle who also is a pilot like your husband told me either wear a money holder under your clothes or a bag strap on your shoulder because if a thief wants to ride by on a motorcycle or run by with a knife, they will in some countries slice your flesh right open so that they can cut the strap of your bag to steal it. So he informed me best to just wear it on your shoulder and if they want to take it, let them it’s better than being being cut open by a machete, or conceal your money elsewhere on your body. Be safe, everyone!
@@OllieMissouri-is6ei I also do that and have expired gift cards, so it looks as if they are credit cards in it, too, and a couple of 'pictures" of "family that come in some wallets.
With the coat in the trash bag hack, I would combine that with the carabiner - or just TIE it - to connect it onto my other bag. Started doing that after I left my favorite (and expensive!) packable raincoat on a plane once. I’m ADHD and I’d leave my head behind if it weren’t screwed on, as my mom used to say! LOL
I use the FREE white mesh fruit wrapper to cover my sunglasses. This way I don’t have to use the big bulky one that came with it. And I have a cheap Target beach bag to cover my personal bag so the later wouldn’t touch the floor under the seat in front of me. This bag is lightweight nylon and washable, rollable, so I keep it in the carry on exterior pocket. Any I take it out by the gate to carry my personal item before boarding.
Way back in the 80's, when Banana Republic was an import/travel store, I bought their "photojournalist's vest". It's an awesome garment, made of khaki with 25 different sized pockets. There are all sort of spots in that thing designed for items like ID, film cannisters, notebooks, pens, etc., which have been easy to repurpose for items I need. There's a large flat pocket on the inside of the vest in the back that is great for documents, inside breast pocket for wallet, just all kinds of great spaces. I never travel without it; it makes a purse/crossbody bag completely unnecessary AND it's damn hard to steal anything out of it since so many of the pockets have zippers, buttons, or snap closures. (The pocket for ID is on the breast and has a transparent front so your ID is visible AND a velcro closure so it doesn't fall out.)
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie Once they got bought out and turned into a yuppie clothing store, I noped out. They used to be a truly unique store, stocking travel items and interesting handmade products from around the world (I still have a couple of their catalogs from back then), then they became just another boring brand. It was pretty sad.
I’m an International Flight Attendant with a really great hack if you hate to have to iron your clothes when you get to your destination!! Buy a wardrobe bag. Ask your dry cleaner for many, plastic, dry cleaner bags. Place each piece of clothing on it’s own, thin, wire hanger. Put a dry cleaning bag over each hanger that has only one garment. When you get to your destination, I promise that you won’t have to iron a thing! Add to that, unpacking in the hotel room is wonderful when all you have to do is hang your garments…no need to transfer to hotel hangers!
Keep your prescription medication in the original bottles and have written copies of the prescription as well. I have a rare condition and I take a lot of medication and when traveling for several months have what looks like I’m importing a pharmacy. I’ve been pulled out of line twice and it’s way better to have documentation to speed things up
It’s getting harder and harder to get written scripts but I did get enough documentation, for countries that require it, that I got an approval. You might want to check the banned lists for meds for many countries, some are rather startling!
LOVE your tips! I learned several! One I learned in 22 and used... pack a black sharpie (they even sell short sizes), and wrap it with a foot or more, of black or gray Duct Tape! Those two items come in so handy. Scuffs, marking something, autographs 😂, make a sign, (ya never know), and the duct tape uses are endless! Fixing, securing, covering, repair etc.
One hack I do is use my photography vest (similar to a fishing vest with a lot of pockets) when I travel. Credit cards, license, passport, snacks, phone, etc. I don't need my purse. It holds A LOT!
@suzielliott7821 i use a jacket for the same, and yes, it goes in the bin. I put everything I'd normally have in my pockets in the jacket, and that way i don't have to dig through my pockets.
For my coat I have used a large compression bag and stuffed it in there and used it as a pillow or lumbar support. I have also used a foldable tote bag to put my coat in. I do keep a few plastic grocery bags in my carry on as well. One came in handy when the gentleman next to me spilled his drink on me and I had to use a bunch of wipes to mop it up. 😂
I love the idea of using the jacket in the compression bag as a lumbar support. That’s awesome. I don’t think it would work for me as a pillow. I just need a real pillow
I purchased waterproof belt bags for our last beach trip. They worked out perfectly. We were able to keep our valuables on us without getting them wet.
Great tips! I take the anti-bacterial wipes in a couple of plastic baggies too. I also do the spare outfit and pajamas along with toiletries/make up in my personal bag instead of carry-on for the same reason you do. Just in case. I also take a mini size or travel size flashlight and that come in handy also.
Also if you get 6 small vacuum/ compression storage bags 🎒 for $14 ( the small bags fit 4--5 reg. Bed pillows in 1 🎒) so 6 small bag for YOUR carry-on is probably enough
A space saver for you, I like to have a warm hoodie with me but it is bulky and takes up too much room in the suitcase so I drape it over my shoulders with the sleeves in front. On the plane when I need a neck roll for comfort or sleeping, I roll the hoodie from the bottom leaving the sleeves out and wrap it around my neck, if the hood is left out it can go over the head for warmth, it is a very cozy way to snooze. Now I have the hoodie for warmth on chilly nights where every I am going and it serves a couple of functions along the way. Oh and if it has a pocket in front, this is a great place to hide your phone or passport when going through security so they won't be grabbed by someone else and you don't forget them and leave them in the tray. Happy travelling✈
Someone taught me that you can top up those tubes! Just shake down what’s already in them to the bottom, they are only half full to begin with. Then hold a full tube against the opening of the sample one and squeeze in more paste till full. I’ve done it and it works . Then the sample tube can last another week or so.
Yes I do that too. I used to travel for work every week, domestic only, I hunted for small items. Those toothpaste samples are great, I would grab 4 (not shy). It saved me from squeezing toothpaste into travel tub when I was time poor. These days we can even buy mouth wash in individual packs. Packaging is terrible for the environment. I try to reuse the same travel size mouth wash bottle. It’s a fine balance between convenience and environment.
I was obsessed last year watching all travel videos. But I only go like 300 miles from home so I just tucked the videos away for later. It’s later 😮 we’re going to Hawaii next year for my mom’s 70th birthday. Then will be flying/driving all over the US to visit family we haven’t seen in years. So thank you for these tips and please pray yall, I’m 42 I’ve never been off the west coast and the one and only time I’ve ever flown was for my brothers funeral 20+ years ago. I was so sad and scared I don’t remember much. But I don’t like flying, I also don’t like not being able to see family ❤
thank you, your videos have helped me get ready for my next trip. My travel hack is bringing plastic hangers that have clips. The kind you might throw away after purchasing clothing. I hang my wet swimsuit in the bathroom in my hotel room.
One hack I use for travel & around home to hold items together like folded cables, a closed umbrella, rolled up clothing, even strapping city maps to travel guide books is a product called Velcro (hook & loop) bundling strap. The hooks are on one side & the loops are on the back. No separate strips & no adhesive. There are many styles & precut lengths but I buy the "ONE-WRAP Roll" that comes in a 12 foot long by 3/4 inch wide continuous roll that can be cut to whatever length suits you. I cut several 6, 12 & 18 inch lengths & toss them in my bag to be used whenever for whatever. Very versatile strapping & it doesn't dry out & break like a rubber band.
I have been using bar soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant and moisturizer and that was life changing. I started taking them on trips but now I use them daily at home. It’s eco friendly, light, effective and really delicious.
@@sem-w7329 the only international brand I know is Lush, I it’s excellent, they have different options depending on your hair type. In Brazil, where I live, I use B.O.B. (Short for Bars Over Bottle) and I like it very much. Regards
I have replaced my hair spray with a Japanese brand hair wax bar recently. It’s 1/3 the size of a travel sized hair spray, works good, it doesn’t have a scent unlike hairspray.
You can actually remove the cardboard roll from inside the toilet paper to make it even more lightweight and take up less room. I have a tiny “bathroom bag” with toilet paper, seat cover, 1 tooshie wipe, 1 hand wipe and Poo Pouri, so I’m always ready.
I do this as well. I make a ‘potty kit’ using a glasses case, I put a tight roll of TP, small poo pouri, seat cover, flush wipes, and soap leaves. I also keep one in my car.
I moved overseas from the States 12 years ago and i go back once a year to spend time with family for a month or do. I love your videos, its helped so much. Great ideas
I prefer clear containers that you can get from the Dollar Store. Once i fill them up, i wrap a little plastic around the top then screw the top. If a liquid is of concern, i take a balloon to cover the bottle. I also use the silicone salad squeeze bottles from Dollar Tree for those really thick lotions. Works like a charm. They are easy to clean and you can color code by the cap for a variety.
I always carry TP in my travel purse. I also try to be weight conscious. Press a partial roll in half, then bend the cardboard tube a bit more and wiggle it out. Store in a half sandwich size ziplock baggie. Keeps the tp dry and in one piece. The baggie could also be used to pack out used paper (or soiled underpants) in an emergency.
I loved your saying; ' I always packed my back befrore (wrongly) because I packed my bag so before.... or somithing like that... THAT IS SO TRUE FOR NEARLY EVERY PERSON IN THE WORLD. not just about the packing... we do things automaticly sometimes and it is SO GOOD TO LEARN.
I have two words: Binder Clips! There are so many uses for these like cord keepers (I use them to hold my headphones) and they can also be used to keep curtains closed in hotels (if you can't find pants hangars). As for coats/jackets, I use Uniqlo light down which come with their own storage bags. When you stuff them into the bag, they become travel pillows! Thanks and happy new year!
Thank you for all the helpful tips. I just returned from a two week Christmas market trip and wore my Ecco Soft 7 waterproof Chelsea booties every day. They were so comfortable and kept my feet warm and dry.

I do the same thing!
..traveling soon on a HUGE trip & both of these are GREAT ideas that i would never have thought of - thank you!
Excellent hack!👌🏻
Genius! It is always mine not his that gets delayed.😂
Great idea will use
Great idea!! 👍
SUCH a great travel hack! Thx
I also use a Hello Kitty Luggage strap, so that my luggage looks like a child's suitcase. Great tips Laurie
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie
That is a great idea.
Smart!
My TP hack is less work but a bit more bulk. I use the roll down until the radius of the paper only is 1/2-3/4 inch and then squash it flat
@@booksnbeaches7075 That’s a great hack if your bag is big enough.
What is TP??
Last holiday abroad I took some dresses , t shirts, older shoes. Wore them then washed them and put them in a charity shop then gave me room for new goodies
Great idea !
Experience teaches the best tips!
wow, he puked ON you?
Thank you, for this. I'm always hesitant to put my purse or backpack under the seat in front of me but I don't have any choice.
Ooh, that's a fantastic tip!
So smart!!
I wrap breakable souvenirs in my dirty clothes on the way home, but I like your thinking
I use bright orange duck tape on my bags for easy recognition when traveling ( 36 year flight attendant).
❤❤❤❤❤ I once decorated a solid navy cloth suitcase with splashes of red and white acrylic paint to distinguish it from all other bags. Ribbons can get torn off. Use any colors/designs that will make it look quite different from average luggage.😊
We have purple suitcases. Not many of them on a flight. But I also have ribbon on a handle too just to make sure.
Yes, we think the same way!
I would add to get there in plenty of time in case you have to wait for that staff member. And have fun!!
TSA Cares is hit or miss depending on the airport
If you buy liquids, creams, toiletries in the departure lounge, keep the receipts. Last year my daughter & I boarded a plane from London to Oslo. Then they made us get off due to a technical problem but they sent us towards passport control. So we had to go through security again. We had proof of what we'd bought in the departure lounge & they allowed us to keep those things (we had way more than the liquid allowance).
Oh wow I would not have thought of that either. Smart to keep receipts!
Yep definitely happens! Almost happened to me with a nice perfume I bought in duty free
@seafarer_ oh that's frustrating!
Yes, so helpful for you and the screening machine!
Peace of mind is everything when in a crowd of tourists.
I use those Nite-Ize locking caribiners on my luggage when flying as well! Great idea!
+1 on the S-Biner. Great little clips that can't easily be unhooked.
Great! You can also wrap it around old Blockbuster cards lol. Did you ever have that card?
Just pack some inexpensive bandaids for this purpose. They are flat and can be pulled off when you leave. 21:28
The post it notes are especially helpful to cover auto flush toilet sensors so the yucky toilets don’t flush on you and you can open the door then pull the post it as you exit. No gross germs toilet water spraying your way!
I do this also, and I especially appreciate it at Disney.😂 I buy the really tiny Post-it notes at Dollar Tree, they are just the right size.
I have used a Travelon water proof, RFID travel crossbody bag since 2016. The strap is slice proof and zippers can lock. It's lightweight too.
I watched someone’s vlog about visiting Paris and the pickpockets were able to access their locked Travelon bag while they were on the metro. I use s biner clips in addition to the Travelon locks, which is excessive but so far no issues.
Gives me such peace of mind. I now have 2 as well as the locking backpack.
I just heard Samantha Brown say she does that with yellow.
So true. BTW never dress children in camouflage pattern for the same reason.
When my kids were young, I dressed them I tie-dye shirts on travels days - could always spot them easily!
I learned from another RUclipsr (travels with Sarah, I think) to get a kitchen scale and weigh everything you think you might want to bring. She even takes the scale to the store when she shops for travel outfits. It’s amazing how much you learn when you do that! Will definitely be making better choices in the future.
Oh wow!
Love the idea about putting extra pockets in your jackets.
I love my @lilysilk scarf.
How do you make a silk scarf into a purse. Great idea!

Such a great travel hack! I love using old Amazon bags too along with the free newspaper bag.
Brilliant!! Must remeber that one, Hiker!
@Hiker_who_Sews I've had the paint from bread bags come off and stain white shoes, clothes ect and pieces get stuck to skin
Use shower caps-free from hotels (or a few pennies at the dollar store)
When you go to the store grab a couple of produce or meat bags (or empty when you purchase and get home.) They are super pliable. Meat slightly heavier and has printed words which is why I like produce bags.
My husband and I just returned from a fantastic SE Asia tour. One swanky hotel had black out curtains that didn't close all the way. My husband, who uses a CPAP and finds a sleep mask too cumbersome, was complaining about the light. I was able to tell him that, "Travel Tips by Laurie" suggests using the pants hangar. Worked like a charm.
WOOHOO! Does he fly with a travel sized cpap? I debated getting one for my mom.
That defeated the blackout curtains if they didn’t fit properly, my friend who I shared a room with insisted having a gap in the curtains, luckily enough it’s in winter and it didn’t get light until 7.
@@TravelTipsbyLauriemy hubby finally gave up on CPAP and has an inspire device.
@@MsSkipperkimmy hubby just got the inspire & I notice he still snores. It’s fairly new.
Has yours allowed you to stop snoring altogether?
When household rubber gloves get a small hole, rather than discard, I slice them across the hand and fingers into strong rubber bands. The bright yellow ones are very useful for travelling and show up instantly on suitcase handles. 🇬🇧
One request, please don’t put on perfume before getting onto the plane. Many people are sensitive to smells and perfume can trigger a migraine for me which then makes the flight unbearable. One hack I’ve learned if I wash items in the sink, I can use the hotel hair dryer to help speed up the drying process.
Yes, perfume on one trip gave me a massive sinus cold.
I'm a migraine person as well and hate smells
Came here to say that. I have a hard time with our perfume too!
Love that tip!!
I take a tiny bottle of facial spray (refill from my day to day toner) . Got the idea from Evian facial spray years ago.
Hi Sandy! So smart!
Same here with my earrings and necklaces!
I use hair scrunchies to hold my cords together. Works like a charm!
So smart and cute!
Thanks for the very useful travel tips! My favourite hack of all is to pack less stuff. That’s after 33 years of international travels, and it’s a lesson learned the hard way.
YES! I hope you saw this video: bit.ly/MinimalistPackLess
On my recent tripl over Thanksgiving, I was gone for six days, and I only took a 15.9" Lovevook backpack. So freeing!
Hi there is also a spider light. In Belgium the room was very dark at night.
We always travel with a nightlight now after I took a nasty tumble! So helpful!
Yikes; glad you were okay.@@diannemcclintic6891
Yes, we use the Dollar Tree tea lights in our cruise cabin. Put one on the vanity and one in the bathroom.
I use the torch on my smartphone - really handy and saves buying one
Lots of ideas for travel. I took a compressed roll toilet paper to Morocco ( often countries do not have enough, like you mentioned) but filled the roll space with socks. The double ended clip you showed has been an idea I used long ago but I use a paper clip and weave it in the pull holes. As for the dry bag for the shampoo bar, it goes in the dry bag I use for my swim suit. You have so many good ideas, it is fun to watch your videos.
Love it love it love it!
Why bother TP when you can use the bidet or bum gum and be very clean and hygiene
I do that, too!
For short trips:
- Toothpaste minis are way too large, I put a bit in a lens container (on both sides on my week trip was enough).
For long trips:
- I buy shampoo and shower gel at the destination when I'm away for a month or longer.
I and our audience really appreciate your tips and time!
So smart!
Great tips Susan! Thank and Merry Christmas!
I use those as well! I always have one in my purse because life happens. They are VERY handy.
I used them for the first time on a trip a couple of weeks ago. Very handy and take up practically no room in my backpack and toiletry kit.
I do the same ❤❤❤
My daughter helps Santa gift these to her sister and I!!
My last two trips (New Zealand and NYC), I took your advise and packed an extra set of clothes in my personal items bag. Also was able to squeeze small shampoo, facial cleaner, and serum into my clear baggie. Never had my bags lost, but it was definitely peace of mind.
Yes I agree.
They can be amazing!
I’ve used those, too. They can work great for travel!
Love this ❤
Yes I agree! I used sandwich bags too.
Sandwich bags take up less room. I’ve used a small travel q-tip container. Hard shell. (Think extra gum hard container, but tiny.). Container takes a beating, but paper stays in great shape.
@@jow.2450yes did you see the hard gum case hack in the video?
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie Yes! I keep a little one in my everyday purse at home. If I’m in Europe I might need to buy the Extra gum size. 😉
One of your best ones and thanks for not selling us products but show as most affordable but very helpful hacks.
WHA? That is brilliant to add some water.
The Tripped Travel Toiletry Bag is on my wishlist! I also tie a bright bandana to my carry on, so I can spot it.
Great hack for not losing your luggage!
They are so helpful for traveling in only a carry-on!
My fav tip
Is placing a AirPod tag in ur luggage so u know where it is
Love all these gems.
Same to you! I remember flight attendants hanging them in the lav.
Coffe bags work great in the bathroom trash too
My travel hack is to NEVER remove your cell phone from the charger in a hotel room without unplugging the charger.
Oh that sounds so cute! Thanks for watching
I made a bag in a cotton fabrics with a ribbon to close it. When I put my bulky winter jacket into it I can use it as a pillow on the plane.
SOOO sew cute!
You're the best!
Then bungee cord the kid to the seat (just kidding)😂

Yes!
Have a dummy wallet, with $10 singles, and a few coins.
@@OllieMissouri-is6ei I also do that and have expired gift cards, so it looks as if they are credit cards in it, too, and a couple of 'pictures" of "family that come in some wallets.
I never travel anywhere without taking 8 clothes pins! Keeps drapes closed, chip bags closed, hang up wet clothes in the bathroom (imagine that) lol.
Great hacks!
I loved their clothing!
Where were you in1982 when I began to travel for work. So wise.
Wow I would not believe it would work.
Try it and see how wonderfully it works!
It’s a great idea, IF you have an available hunk to carry it for you - I find garment bags very hard to travel with
Keep your prescription medication in the original bottles and have written copies of the prescription as well.
Autographs 😂
One hack I do is use my photography vest (similar to a fishing vest with a lot of pockets) when I travel. Credit cards, license, passport, snacks, phone, etc. I don't need my purse. It holds A LOT!
the designers who conspired to not let women have functional pockets in their clothes should be forever shamed.
They do hold alot!
Do you have to take the vest off going thru security?
@suzielliott7821 i use a jacket for the same, and yes, it goes in the bin. I put everything I'd normally have in my pockets in the jacket, and that way i don't have to dig through my pockets.
For my coat I have used a large compression bag and stuffed it in there and used it as a pillow or lumbar support. I have also used a foldable tote bag to put my coat in. I do keep a few plastic grocery bags in my carry on as well. One came in handy when the gentleman next to me spilled his drink on me and I had to use a bunch of wipes to mop it up. 😂
Oh wow!! I would panic.
I love the idea of using the jacket in the compression bag as a lumbar support. That’s awesome. I don’t think it would work for me as a pillow. I just need a real pillow
My travel tip is to take no makeup at all. I love that i don't need to carry makeup or spend time putting it on and just be and enjoy the trip
That is an easy travel hack for sure.
When my flight gets turbulent I close my eyes and imagine I’m on a school bus traveling on a bumpy road.
We had a hellish flight from Columbus to Denver and the worst turbulence. I resigned myself to fate and took a nap
@angwlynrn, I do the same, but I imagine I’m in a jeep on a bumpy road. It works!
You have the best tips, tricks and hacks, Laurie! Thanks for much for sharing! 💜
Thanks so much!
I love that hack
I always pick up some of the small toothpaste tube samples when I visit the dentist. They are great for my liquids bag.
Same!
Oh maybe that'll work!@@shelaghjackson9577
@shelaghjackson9577 Worth a try
Have you seen this video: bit.ly/HowToTSALine
You will love Hawaii! My favorite place in all of the world
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie Going to watch it now! Thank you!
@@juliepoolie5494 Thank you. I’ve heard it is absolutely beautiful. I’m excited and forcing myself to not psych myself out lol
thank you, your videos have helped me get ready for my next trip. My travel hack is bringing plastic hangers that have clips. The kind you might throw away after purchasing clothing. I hang my wet swimsuit in the bathroom in my hotel room.
Great hack! Thanks
Do you recommend any particular brands?
I love Lush shampoo bar-if not one near you, call them. They were helpful with me finding one for dry scalp. Just used it this morning!
@pachecodecastro2593 what brand of conditioner and moisturizer did you use please?
@@sem-w7329 the only international brand I know is Lush, I it’s excellent, they have different options depending on your hair type. In Brazil, where I live, I use B.O.B. (Short for Bars Over Bottle) and I like it very much. Regards
I have replaced my hair spray with a Japanese brand hair wax bar recently. It’s 1/3 the size of a travel sized hair spray, works good, it doesn’t have a scent unlike hairspray.
I don’t understand where you put the snacks if you can’t take food through security? Please explain. Thank you for all your great information
Hi, you can take food through. If going to another country, produce can be tricky. Pack them anywhere.
You can actually remove the cardboard roll from inside the toilet paper to make it even more lightweight and take up less room. I have a tiny “bathroom bag” with toilet paper, seat cover, 1 tooshie wipe, 1 hand wipe and Poo Pouri, so I’m always ready.
Great bag of items!
I do this as well. I make a ‘potty kit’ using a glasses case, I put a tight roll of TP, small poo pouri, seat cover, flush wipes, and soap leaves. I also keep one in my car.
Ha!
For perfume I have a refillable atomiser that I got from Amazon- it’s tiny and can use whatever perfume I like in there
I’ve heard good things about them.
I got a set of these and was sooo bummed my pit liquor deodorant dosent work with them😢
And mine leaked
I moved overseas from the States 12 years ago and i go back once a year to spend time with family for a month or do. I love your videos, its helped so much. Great ideas
I prefer clear containers that you can get from the Dollar Store. Once i fill them up, i wrap a little plastic around the top then screw the top. If a liquid is of concern, i take a balloon to cover the bottle.
I also use the silicone salad squeeze bottles from Dollar Tree for those really thick lotions. Works like a charm. They are easy to clean and you can color code by the cap for a variety.
Thanks for sharing your hacks!!
I always travel with a change of clothes in my personal item bag. On 4 separate trips to Spain I had to wait 1-4 days for my suitcase to be delivered.
Smart to plan for the worst. AND you are taking those clothes out of your suitcase for more space.
Experience is the best teacher for me.
They are such great boots for the chance of rain and walking all day! Yay
