Should have used a proper sealer primer on the stained door after sanding. Also better off using 2 lighter finish coats instead of 1 heavy coat. Big mistakes!
Nope, not according to paint manufacturer Glidden, I had thought so too... Quote: "Note: Don’t paint the top or bottom of a door (the narrow parts that aren’t visible when the door is closed). Leave them unpainted so the door can expand and contract with changes in humidity."
If you search on that quote I listed, you will see tons of people tell you not to paint top and bottom... I did read an exception from this--- UNLESS it is a bathroom door (humidity from showers and water in bathroom need to be sealed from entering the door from the top or bottom...

Painted a handful of doors black with alkyd without sanding or priming. Waste of time and money. Don't skip the prep y'all
