What a great video! No ‘Welcome to my channel blah blah blah’. No cheesy music. Straight forward. Good work. I’m going to work on my doors now. Thanks.
Excellent presentation of this technique to update existing hollow core doors! This past spring we wanted to replace all of our doors professionally. For 20 doors, it would have cost over $12000.00. I used this method to update the existing doors and only spent just over $1200.00. (That's right, 1/10th of the replacement cost!) We did install new doorknobs, but were able to reuse the hinges, which I painted. We love how our "new" doors look!
$1200 is still too expensive just for that. I did an entire oak bookcase with two shelves, to use on top of a desk, all made of solid white oak, and it cost me around $200, all materials included. Wood trim is cheaper than that.
The $1200 was mostly for the new doorknobs, but the rest was for the trim, primer, paint, wood filler, sandpaper, etc. Also, keep in mind that we refurbished 20 doors! Even "small stuff" adds up for that quantity. Glad your project turned out well too!
This is awesome! Thanks for taking us to the store with you. I am in the process of purchaing a home built in 1979 with the original interior doors. I am going to save so much on doing this instead of replacing them!!!
This is a man's video! Straight to the point. No wasting time. No mindless jibber jabber... and exactly the information needed. Thanks for posting and thanks for treating the viewer with respect.

They don’t even look like the same doors (these are closet doors btw). Bought us a few years as replacing isn’t in the budget right now but they looked so out of place after recent trim and carpet upgrades. THANK YOU!!
I never even thought about doing molding on the door like that! And I was just about to buy a new kitchen closet door to replace the old hollow slab I have now but this will cost so much less and look just as good if not better! Thank you!

Really nice video it shows everything important, even the little things that someone who does it for the first time would not think of and any other video doesnt show these things and make it look too simple
I was thinking about doing this with my older heavier more solid doors but wasn’t quite sure. This sealed the deal as I did repaint one of them and it came out great. I wasn’t sure if the trim sticking out from the door would look right but now I’m sure I’m rehabbing all doors and doing this update. Smelly Door - sand and prime with KILZ. I don’t think caulking the edges is necessary but that’s another step I guess. Great video! I wish I would do the same but I really don’t understand how to do that while working and trying to concentrate. I admire all RUclips people but especially one that takes the time to do time lapsed photography. I’ve done so much work on this old house I could start a channel. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU!

@@PatonHaus what's the best way for painting with door remaining on hinges? Would I just want to tape around the trim, hinges, doorknob (bc it's new), and lay down some tarps? Great idea. If you have the tools (router), you can even make your own mouldings. That's basically how I did mine with the mouldings I made. Save a couple of £ too.
That's true, but I think buying primed, sanded, solid wood trim for around $30 a door is hard to beat. I don't think I'd be saving any money by buying the raw materials and paint to get the same end product. If the door weren't getting painted I would definitely consider making my own trim to avoid the finger-jointed stuff.
