Mike Patey has announced that he is actually building a new Draco, “Draco X”. And he said the reason he is calling it “Draco X” is because he has a list of 10 changes/upgrades that he is going to make. He actually announced in a Horizon Hobby Video yesterday for the “Micro Draco” that he is officially starting Draco X now. So watch for the videos on his channel for the build… I’m still waiting for Eflite to make “Scrappy”. That would be a beautiful bird to have as well.

Been watching for a couple years and I love how the show has evolved. Even more , I love the influence your show has had on our community. Since the release of micro Draco , I've seen multiple comments on blog sites that stated " I'm gonna hold off pre-order until I see the Brian Phillips breakdown. " I hope HH sees this and holds off future releases until you can test fly and release the video on the same day . Great job guys !!

Hey Brian, I have one of these and it's AWESOME!! Just for clarity though, the "shocks" are not oil filled, just springs and so are quite bouncy. I replaced mine with actual oil filled shocks and soft inflatable tyres. Makes a HUGE difference on landings.
I'm so sorry if this was not true. I thought it was, and if it isn't I need to clear that up with Horizon. I was under the impression that they were planning to do it, but maybe that was one of the features that got scrapped when the price was ballooning out of control right before final release. We had been in communication with the factory for months on details with this plane, and I may have missed that detail, and if so...please accept my sincerest apologies. I'm going to look into this for future reference. Thank you for bringing this to my attention Mike!

I have the Draco but i dont think youre right about the oil filled shocks. I wish they were but im afraid its just springs that make the Draco bounce a lot on most landings.

Im still practicing landing Draco. It seems like a rather skilled job to do this fluently. But maybe i just need to do a bit more experimenting with the battery weight. Im using the heavy amp ones. To nose-heavy seems bad for landing with a nice alpha 😢

He went out with that group of dudes and their cub planes and flew aroumd the state like dudes riding harleys on a road trip!...lol Seriously tho, the videos of the real draco im action are just amazing amd awesome to see....it really does take off almost straight up due to the huge turbine engine Mike used...

Great Video! Yep, you fooled me too...I was fix'n to haul out the magic plastic! My Draco hasn't smacked a chicken coop, but did manage to have an altercation with a landscaping timber at the edge of a parking lot. New prop and everything is groovy! Love my Draco and you are correct, it flies so well that you get overconfident and put yourself in bad situations that don’t always work out. On a side note Brian Phillips, you said it has oil filled shock which isn’t correct! I will guarantee that because I have broken one. Those are pogo sticks… just a spring in a plastic body like any other oleo shock. Think about it, Oil filled shocks would slow the compression and rebound, these just bounce. You should correct your statement on this so people don’t think you’re trying to mislead them.

There was a time, early in production, BEFORE release where that was the plan, but it never came to fruition, and I evidently got into a time warp when we were filming this video - dang it! Hello Brian Thanks for you videos. I have a dilemma. I am buying a new radio. I have a dxs but am looking to buy a nx10 or ix14. I like the ease of programming on the ix14 withe the touchscreen. Which would you recommend? Thanks
Great question! I have to assume you're relatively new to the sport, based on just having the DXS, so if you're thinking of getting into the IX14, my only word of caution would be, 1) It's a lot of money (more on that later) 2) We share step by step help on the NX lineup at the moment. We go into more detail than most, but there are some who will help you on the IX as well...just not us YET. As for the "more on that later" - I always say, and hold tight to this advice. With a Transmitter...assuming you're hooked, which I have to assume you ARE...get as much as you can afford. You will only regret buying a transmitter about the time you're buying the NEXT one. If you want to waste a TON of money, but each step along the way, and really enrich Horizon Hobby ;) LOL - but seriously, if you want to save a TON of cash, just get what you think you'll need for 2-3 years, or more. If you can afford the IX14, I'd say you'd be holding yourself back, buying the NX10, but to be frank...I've had as many as 18 channels (DX18) and never used more than 10. I am seriously thinking of upgrading from NX10 to NX20 - HERE's WHY. 1) I want to be able to help people coming back into the hobby, so I don't want to just jump in with IX, since most won't tolerate that kinda expense...BUT THEY SHOULD. 2) Bigger SCREEN. I don't even really need the extra channels YET. 3) We can accomplish BOTH - but this upgrade is yet to be "approved" ;) I can only help you re-identify the things you've surely already thought of, but if you're picking between two good options, my only suggestion would be... IF you're getting the IX - just go for broke....get the IX20 and don't wast a penny, however, if you THINK you might want 15 channels some day, just stick with the NX10, and you can probably trade UP, since that will still be very palatable for another new-comer, and you can probably sell it off in a couple years, if you really need the 15th channel, or the "easier" interface (I personally have come to really like the NX...I get all screwed up in the IX lineup - LOL...but that's a practice thing...I could get over it in a pretty quick order, presumably) Whatever you pick, if you want to help us out, follow this link ;) bprc.me/Tx P.S. I wouldn't get the SE of any of them. I don't see that feature set as being a huge adder in any of the platforms...UNLESS you find something you really need, stay away from that setup...you can just get the plain one and you'll probably never know any better...just my 2cent on this detail.
Thanks! The IX14 is my go for broke without getting a divorce! I like the ease of programming with the touchscreen. I really hate spinning that scroll bar! If the NX had this feature then without a doubt the NX10 would be my choice. If my son sticks with the hobby then i will get it for him. I am a returning pilot and he is just starting. We have the 1.5m timber evolution but i am about to get the carbon z cessna 150T and of course the transmitter!

"Well, it is just the Voodoo in a different livery.". Apparently, my fist thoughts were correct. HH is making a business model change. Ive literally have been trying to find a vectored motor mount for small motors for almost 2 years.... it is for a flattie plane Ive yet to assemble.... it is a vigorsky j 15.... I have tried to reach out to everyone I can think that could point me in the correct heading....lol... It is almost comical at this point... I thought you might know something or someone which could help me get this thing in the air.... I could always just mount the motor direct, but that would negate the whole point of its potential.... I dont know.... But I would urge you not to be flattered because you do have cool stuff cycling frequently..... dont cut yourself short one bit.... Btw... do you have any experience with the hh eratix? I accidentally ran into a deal i couldnt pass on for 120 bux...... with an ar630... @@artagain8977 Some people are convinced it's a bad plane because it's heavy. It's eminently flyable and can perform all sorts of aerobatics. It's harder to bush fly, but really rewarding to pull it off.

droneschillan1738 - I have had issues with my tail wheel too, and still LOVE this plane. It was so bad, I had to replace it, and I still LOVE it ;) She is a flying machine, albeit a heavy one so that it can be so dang scale looking and feature packed, which is why she's so dang heavy, but I LOVE the way she flies (As TwoBrosRC mentioned - thanks Jon). All planes have tradeoffs, and none have been perfect, but I gotta say, this plane is a net win by almost all measures.

Thanks for you videos. I have a dilemma. I am buying a new radio. I have a dxs but am looking to buy a nx10 or ix14. I like the ease of programming on the ix14 withe the touchscreen. Which would you recommend?

Great question! I have to assume you're relatively new to the sport, based on just having the DXS, so if you're thinking of getting into the IX14, my only word of caution would be, 1) It's a lot of money (more on that later) 2) We share step by step help on the NX lineup at the moment. We go into more detail than most, but there are some who will help you on the IX as well...just not us YET.
As for the "more on that later" - I always say, and hold tight to this advice. With a Transmitter...assuming you're hooked, which I have to assume you ARE...get as much as you can afford. You will only regret buying a transmitter about the time you're buying the NEXT one. If you want to waste a TON of money, but each step along the way, and really enrich Horizon Hobby ;) LOL - but seriously, if you want to save a TON of cash, just get what you think you'll need for 2-3 years, or more. If you can afford the IX14, I'd say you'd be holding yourself back, buying the NX10, but to be frank...I've had as many as 18 channels (DX18) and never used more than 10. I am seriously thinking of upgrading from NX10 to NX20 - HERE's WHY.
1) I want to be able to help people coming back into the hobby, so I don't want to just jump in with IX, since most won't tolerate that kinda expense...BUT THEY SHOULD.
2) Bigger SCREEN. I don't even really need the extra channels YET.
3) We can accomplish BOTH - but this upgrade is yet to be "approved" ;)
I can only help you re-identify the things you've surely already thought of, but if you're picking between two good options, my only suggestion would be... IF you're getting the IX - just go for broke....get the IX20 and don't wast a penny, however, if you THINK you might want 15 channels some day, just stick with the NX10, and you can probably trade UP, since that will still be very palatable for another new-comer, and you can probably sell it off in a couple years, if you really need the 15th channel, or the "easier" interface (I personally have come to really like the NX...I get all screwed up in the IX lineup - LOL...but that's a practice thing...I could get over it in a pretty quick order, presumably)

P.S. I wouldn't get the SE of any of them. I don't see that feature set as being a huge adder in any of the platforms...UNLESS you find something you really need, stay away from that setup...you can just get the plain one and you'll probably never know any better...just my 2cent on this detail.
Thanks! The IX14 is my go for broke without getting a divorce! I like the ease of programming with the touchscreen. I really hate spinning that scroll bar! If the NX had this feature then without a doubt the NX10 would be my choice. If my son sticks with the hobby then i will get it for him. I am a returning pilot and he is just starting. We have the 1.5m timber evolution but i am about to get the carbon z cessna 150T and of course the transmitter!

I was subscribed to a few channels. It's all the same. Support us, join, pay, pay, pay. In that 2 years I asked a handful for help finding used trainers. A handful of people that see more planes than I could imagine. Not 1 single response. Not even a piss off new guy. I guess I expected more from the help the new kid learn choir. Sorry I'm a kid and can't pay everywhere. Plus find unicorn planes to learn on. Not to mention transmitter, on and on. I hope for better but found, well nothing. Good luck with sales

I don't know anything about the thrust vectoring parts you're talking about. I've never done it myself. Is there a reason you think I could help you with that request? Just trying to understand better. I'm flattered you'd think of me, but I just don't know how to help.
Ive literally have been trying to find a vectored motor mount for small motors for almost 2 years.... it is for a flattie plane Ive yet to assemble.... it is a vigorsky j 15.... I have tried to reach out to everyone I can think that could point me in the correct heading....lol...
It is almost comical at this point...
I thought you might know something or someone which could help me get this thing in the air.... I could always just mount the motor direct, but that would negate the whole point of its potential....

@@artagain8977 Some people are convinced it's a bad plane because it's heavy. It's eminently flyable and can perform all sorts of aerobatics. It's harder to bush fly, but really rewarding to pull it off.
@@artagain8977Many falls, problems with the landing gear, especially the tail wheel, and its flight performance is inferior to most foam RC airplanes of similar wing span.
droneschillan1738 - I have had issues with my tail wheel too, and still LOVE this plane. It was so bad, I had to replace it, and I still LOVE it ;) She is a flying machine, albeit a heavy one so that it can be so dang scale looking and feature packed, which is why she's so dang heavy, but I LOVE the way she flies (As TwoBrosRC mentioned - thanks Jon).
All planes have tradeoffs, and none have been perfect, but I gotta say, this plane is a net win by almost all measures.

@@BrianPhillipsRC Brian since brexit they won’t deliver to uk some like motion rc do but I get stung with import fees now some items from motion like parts and that they don’t sting you but after a certain weight I think it kicks in , people who voted out must have been mental the didn’t mention about the custom union and there’s something else but it wasn’t good
