  • In 1991 car and truck rail carriers to and from Autoport, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia either came by train from Truro to Dartmouth yards or by train to Rockingham yards in Halifax (some were left in sidings en route at Enfield or Kinsac). Those that did not come directly to Dartmouth were collected by train #508 which ran from Dartmouth to Rockingham and return with a direction change at Windsor Junction (necessitating back up moves). In 2005 the Moncton - Truro train #308 which carried traffic from central Canada and its westbound (wb) counterpart #307 were extended from Truro to Dartmouth. All Dartmouth traffic including cars and trucks was subsequently carried on this pair of trains. Later the trains were renumbered #407 & #408.
Auto carriers used to have open sides but by 1991 many were enclosed but vans and trucks were and still are carried on unprotected flat cars
