Karjala is the finnish name of the region of Karelia.

I'm Finnish. Karjala is the southeastern part of Finland which was mostly taken from us. We still have bits of it left. The people of Karjala have their own dialect of Finnish language and a bit different culture (in some traditions). Karjala is also the place where the biggest battles in the history of Northern Europe took place.
