I believe this choice of the song was made to emphasize that Ukrainians are not racists and xenophobes like our enemies, we respect and appreciate diversity and integration to our traditions fresh and unique styles of the other cultures. Rap, that you saw by Kalush orchestra, is originally not Ukrainian music style, but we adopted and mastered it well. We are united with the World and the World is united with us. Overall vidbir to Eurovision this year was very week on my opinion.

In Ukraine, it is easier to meet Arabs, Indians, Koreans or Chinese (even more likely - people from the countries surrounding the Black Sea - Armenians, Azerbaijanis, Turks, Moldovans). Compared to them, people from Africa are quite small in number. But in creativity they are quite noticeable. I can quickly think of a few black performers, but not Indians or Asians.
