I dont know if I have already shared this with you, and if so.....sorry for repeating myself. I came across Kalush Orchestra completely by chance myself. I was vacationing in Ireland with family and friends for 3 weeks. So of course there mere many pubs and much drinking going on. One evening still hung over, I decided to stay back while everyone went to the local pub. I was flipping through the channels and came across something called Eurovision. It was the grand Finals and it was just starting. It would turn out that Kalush Orchestra representing Ukraine would win this year.....I was thrilled for Ukraine, of course, and the group just blew me away. Still not sure what it is that I find so compelling about them.....I'm a Dead Head. I can tell you are definitely younger than me but I feel you are old enough to know what that is. So, obviously not at all my genre.....and I dont (or didn't) have a clue what they are singing, but they are my new favorite group and I just cant stop listening to them.....I have really gotten into the 3 man (plus the mc) group Kalush as well. Which has changed members. It is now Oleh, Tymofii the the piper, and Johnny. Both are in Kalush Orchestra. I am really starting to love Skofkas laid back almost "lazy" groove too. Anyway afterward I got back home to the US, I started checking out everything I could find of theres on youtube, and started following them on instagram. It turned out they were really cool guys, gracious, and would express thanks when you comment on music, and occasionally open to polite conversation. So I was super excited that before it was announced, and after I had made a comment to one of them that I wish they would come perform in the US, they told me that they were soon announcing a N. American tour. They were touring nonstop since their Eurovision win, raising money for medical supplies. As soon as they went on sale I bought tickets to Philly and NYC. Long story ahort.....I was asked if I would be willing to help them out with merch while they performed at one of my shows. I said if course because I had been really emotionally distraught over what was happening in Ukraine, and volunteering to work their merch table from which proceeds were going to help the people, anything that I could do to help was something I had been desperately looking for. I ended up going to 4 shows volunteering at 3 and spending some quality time befor and after the shows with the guys. They are such, kind, generous and respectful young gentleman as well as tallented as hell....and just at the shows I worked we must have taken in well over 10 grand that would buy much needed medical supplies. I not only found my own way to contribute to their cause, but I made some really special friends. I'm sorry you hadnt discovered them soon enough to have been able to see them perform live. They are quite something! But they will most likely come back next year....which I cannot wait for. I am however slowly learning the language (it's really difficult to learn a new language when you are older), but I am determined, and am beginning to recognize words and phrases in their music. I think you should check out, Tipok, zori Davai Nachistotu ( another really cool Kalush/skofka Colaboration) And for your own personal enjoyment, you should check out some of their live performances. There are a few whole shows on here and a performance by Kalush at something called We.fest that I cannot stop listening to. Enjoy and Slava Ukraine! 💙💛
Volia it's hard to explain. This something more than freedom. This like freedom and fight for freedom and volition in the same time. In English this direct word doesn't exist. And this word we have in our Coat of arms in Trident with 4 liters-В О Л Я. What about the duct tape on the car, it's the reference to those cars used by our soldiers on the frontline (usually 4×4 pickups), those are just regular cars not armored etc so quite often you'll see those cars full of bullet holes covered with duct tape.

These are my two favorite male Ukrainian pop singers. I’m familiar only with recent material on RUclips so I don’t know them really well. The combo of Kakush’s staccato delivery and Skofka’s gravelly voice and behind the beat rhythm are dynamite. The falsetto from Kalush was a surprise and sounds pretty good. He should develop that. It’s great complement to his rapping sound.

No matter how much you shoot at our land
No matter how many fields you burn
Our homeland will live forever
The earth will give birth again and again
No matter how much you shoot at our land
No matter how many fields you burn
Our homeland will live forever
The earth will give birth again and again
Our Motherland fights proudly
We are not in the groin, but in the face
Our Motherland is for freedom
Will bite the enemy's throat
Our Motherland is only ours
I won't give it away for anything
Our Motherland is always fighting
God save her
Our motherland, you have to suffer a little more
Our snipers shoot the enemy well
An eye for an eye, our guys will definitely crush spades
The Armed Forces of Ukraine will not let the candle blow out
No matter how much you shoot at our land
No matter how many fields you burn
Our homeland will live forever
The earth will give birth again and again
No matter how much you shoot at our land
No matter how many fields you burn
Our homeland will live forever
The earth will give birth again and again
The idiot bullets flew
Because they had no right to speak
Freedom is a girl who loves home
Only the Russians would not give it to her
The idiot bullets flew
Because they had no right to speak
Freedom is a girl who loves home
Only the Russians would not give it to her
From where people did not have freedom
That's where those quiet voices come from
From where the ink was poured
It is clear that there is dirt
How much we have already experienced
The motherland is still so young
She took off her yellow autumn dress
And she wore camouflage
The sun did not fall on the ninth floor
I look at the yard through a new window
The angel lives here only as my guardian
And it was not the sun that fell on the ninth floor
No matter how much you shoot at our land
No matter how many fields you burn
Our homeland will live forever
The earth will give birth again and again
No matter how much you shoot at our land
No matter how many fields you burn
Our homeland will live forever
The earth will give birth again and again
