It would be great if you could do a video explaining how you do the documentation, or make the megaman zero doc public and share with us! I've create a milanote account using your link :)
I think the Z Knuckle should be a grab mid combo, I think in air combos he grabs the enemy and throws them to ground, continuing a basic combo on the ground.
Sounds good but i think the Chain Rod would do the work even better Instead, i think the Knuckle would be cool to throw the enemies while taking their parts or probably even some special moves just like Nero with his Devil Bringer
@@codesymbi I thought chain rod could work as how it the function it has in the original game, you could use it for movement or you can grab enemies that far away and pull them closer.
@@codesymbi I would imagine also Chain Rod could be used to bring enemies to Zero, while Z-Knuckle would make dash-n-grab onto enemy. Kinda similar to DmC Devil May Cry, but with different combos.
If I may suggest something, the Chain Rod's ability to drag enemies closer could function like how Nero's Devil Bringer grabs enemies in DMC4&5, and how it was used to traverse through missions to drag Nero, or in this case Zero, to the next part.
There's only one thing I wanna see added before it's done. And that's Zero's running animation being closer to the original, and making his hair flow, cause I always thought that looked cool. ALSO, maybe for the chain, you could have it like pull the enemy toward you rather than you chasing it for combos? Either way, this is freaking cool as hell and I can't wait until it's done!
the chain also could maybe be a mid-range single targeting weapon, logically. speed-wise, maybe in-between the sword and the knuckles? damage would be low, maybe even lower then knuckles.
A long, long time ago. An online reviewer described the Zero series as basically 2D Devil May Cry. I personally disagreed, but the comparison stuck with me for a very long time. Now, here we are.
Always sorta has been. Since zero 2, EX skills can combo each other but to maximise damage you have to make sure of their combo values go into each other. But in zero 3, they expanded upon it and imo is the best combo system in the zero series, or heck best system that inticreates has made for the mega man games. Zero 1 there are 'combos' but it's just really taking advantage of different weapons and attacks' s and chaining them together.
Honestly, the shield should probably take some inspiration from captain America in most videos games , being that it gets thrown forwards instead of the spin, but in turn bounces between enemies and gains a shield bash to charge though enemies. That way the recoil rod isn't hogging the dash, and it's not trash. Also, chain rod could be a grapple move for the triple rod, allowing it to function in that slot as well. Thing is, each dash would have pros and cons, the shield has armor but also significant start up and end lag, even negating damage from the front half of him. The recoil would be faster but riskier and the chain rod would drag opponents to you, but only if it lands, meaning there's less combos it works in, but it does more damage. A charge shot for the buster or rapid shot would replace all of the dashes with the benifit of being the safest. I know I've said alot, but I'm passionate about weapons, and thus know way too much about game mechanics using them, and shield ones are probably my favorite just because they're really creative. I stole the chain rod idea from DMC, not like the series, the game called DMC... Yeah, that one. It had good ideas occasionally... It just proceeded to shit on them.
On that moment on 4:24, that the barrel of the buster is the saber, you can use the buster before even getting the saber on the first game somehow, so I'd say you were justified by the first game already, as for the shield, I remember it launches just energy when you throw it (???) thing is, the original games never limited the player of the use of a weapon that supposed to be the variation of another, save for when the sequel changed the triple rod for the chain rod, but I don't even remember if both rods were supposed to be the same weapon but reworked, either way those were different games. On a final note, loving this project, I missed this series so much and seeing someone work on one of the series that made my childhood is a great thing to see, great work, mate, hope the best for you and the development of the game.
@@KaitouKaiju That makes a lot of sense, I thought the second charge was because of the first upgrade, but you just get it after the saber no matter the exp, thanks mate.
Duuuuuuude this is so damn cool. I've just started using Unity recently with the goal of making a 3D fighting game, and your progress here is inspiring.
4:22 actually you're good, that's exactly why Zero has 2 handles;, he can dual wield canonically even if we can't in the games technically. (as seen in multiple official artworks)
Hey! I've been following the progress of your remake of MMZ for awhile, and each new vid gets me more and more hyped for it! Out of all the entries of the Megaman series, it's always been the Zero series that I keep coming back to for with its story and feel. I know at this stage of development it might be a tad too early to worry about this yet, but as a graphic artist, I just want to say that I've made vectors of the various MMZ iconography (most importantly the Resistance and Neo Arcadian insignias) in case you need any assets like that for the game! Keep up the amazing work!
Capcom should give you a license for this. They aren't doing anything with Megaman/Zero anyways. Looks awesome! You are giving me motivation to keep working on my own project!
If only it was that easy and not a legal nightmare. Sadly, he would have to pay a huge amount just for it, and most likely, they would restrict certain things.
Dude, regards from brazil. I really impressed with what youre doing. It is amazing. I never expected to see a zero game in 3D and im crazy about it. Keep doing the good job dude.
There is SO MUCH I want to say about this, but first thing I want to say is THANK YOU, PLEASE KEEP MAKING THIS!! I also want to say that, if I recall, Zero's buster in the Zero games only needs the Z-Saber slotted into it in order to perform charge attacks (since the Saber provides that energy, and is the reason the shot is green). So Zero being able to dual-wield the Z-Saber with the Buster for combos that involve rapid shots still makes sense, as I understand it. Perhaps also consider making the Chain Rod work somewhat like Nero's arm from DMC4/5 with the ability to pull in enemies from a distance and even remove their shields. I can also see it working like a wide/fast area weapon with him whipping it around for multi-hit. I just wanted to make some suggestions. (massive bonus points if you make the chain rod able to swing from walls and cielings. c: )
ngl, I was hoping that he would get the dual wielding z-sabers he's been shown with in some of the art for mmz. As always amazing work my guy. Looking forward to seeing the next vid!
this is cool as shit dude. I've been a mega man zero fan for a long time and I've been trying to get into game design so this video series is right up my alley. Godspeed.
Yooo! This is so freaking sick man! I would really love to see you make a new weapon for Zero, wielding a double sword of Z-Saber and Omega-Saber. This is gonna be like the MegaMan Zero version of Ninja Gaiden game. Looking forward to see the next update. Keep up the great work!
It would be cool if u add this things: When u dash with the shield it would give damage + knock back to the enemies When you dash with the sword and spam the attack bottom zero turns into saw blade like sonic. When u make the chain rod make it like the chaos blades from kratos and it would be cool to grab enemies and throw it at the enemies. That's some of my ideas Good job at this amazing project man
This is amazing work. My suggestion would be to make the triple rod a stab/precision weapon like it was in the originals, then make the chain rod the crowd control one(like Kratos's blade of chaos). Knuckle could be a grapple type weapon, potentially even a combo ender with stuff like inazuma drops.
This is starting to look REALLY cool! The models you made for the sub weapons all look fantastic, and the enemy despawn explosion is a perfect way to keep the robotic body parts from unnaturally fading out. I do think that the health and energy bars would look better if they were both either vertical or horizontal, but the way you have it currently helps it look more original. Good job!
This is something I imagined and this man is out here making this reality by himself def going to want to play this, this man def deserves more exposure game devs need him
The chain rod lets Zero graple into objects and enemies. The chain For small enemies, Zero could pull them toward him like the "Get over here" from Scorpion in Mortal Kombat. If the target is heavier than Zero, he could sling himself toward the target (like in the Spiderman games) The chain rod can be compared with a kunai with chain Anyways... the chain rod acts more a crowd control weapon than a destructive weapon.

One thing I wanna suggest, is when Zero is levitating in the air, have an effect that shows how he's doing it. An example that comes to mind is in Mega Man 11 when Mega Man uses Chain Blast in the air, Mega Man has this thrust effect from the red circles under his feet. Unfortunately in the Zero series they don't have the weird feet circles, so maybe it could be some particle effect like it's some magnetic field or something like that.

Omfg Ive never been so hyped by the algorithm randomly blessed me with lol. The amount of ideas here fit with Zero so well, even the ones inspired by other games, you hand picked the perfect fits! This looks sick and I'm adoring the 3d adaptation of Zero's already sick moveset and it looks just as cool. It has the same energy as seeing a turn based or action game character in a fighting game with how the speed and flow of the kit is changed for new pacing. Also strong Pso2NG vibes from particles which can only be a good thing when adding an alternative to "weight" for futuristic laser weapons.... (the pso2 inspired comparison poped up right after I typed this lmfao). Also loving the use of music here, mothership was my favorite to grind to in base pso2.
a 3D beat-em up in the style of a DMC game makes sense for the Mega Man Zero series. This feels like a game if Platinum made Mega Man Zero and it just feels natural.
the combo system from megaman Zero 3 was already in-depth for a 2d action game, and seeing entire Megaman Zero being remade in 3D makes me feel happy and i really look forward to the project :D
frankly, having the Zknuckle operate exactly how it did in Z4 would be daunting but potentially super cool to work with, considering how many weapons the enemies could use and how they could augment the kit you're giving Zero.
Taking the time to do something like this just for fun or love is just admirable. You open a door that us Megaman Zero fans never knew we would want, a 3D Zero game 😱 you managed to create Hype for something we can only dream.
I've always wanted and fantasized about a 3D Megaman Zero game. I'm so happy to finally see this idea make it off paper. Keep up the great work, Kaylee!
@@goldman77700 I grew up with the classic games and the original Mega Man will always have a soft spot in my heart but I swear Zero doesn't get enough love. He needs an anime, 3D remake, or something 😩
Zero has been seen in artworks with multiple sabers so having both the saber and the buster makes sense Honestly by this logic you can even make the shield _another_ saber
Holy fuck I'm obsessing over how sick you made the Recoil Rod. I felt like their potential was waaaaay underutilized in Zero 3, only being a stabbing weapon that also granted you some extra hangtime with your jumps if you aim it at the ground. But you turned them into what they were clearly intended to be (aesthetically speaking that is), tonfa swords. Not dissimilar to the ones Kroenen had in the first Hellboy film, but even cooler since their blades are comprised entirely out of energy. This is some top notch work, well done.
I really like the one vertical one horizontal idea with the health and energy bar! If it were me, though, I'd keep it in the top left, since that's where most games have it. I think having the health be the horizontal one and the energy be the vertical one would also make it more easy to grasp. Most games that I've played that have that sort of system tend to have something similar, like hollow knight, with the health going horizontally across the screen and the soul meter being underneath it and draining vertically.
It's so amazing! I'm brasilian and know your job now, i'm curiosity about create game or characters. My favorite is create character. So, I'm so happy see and know that there're someone that love the series like me. Congratulations for it! I'll go on here to see more your job!
Love to see this project of your coming together, the combos you do felt super sick. As a person who enjoys character action game this looks like fun as hell to do with all of Zero's arsenal of weapons. Also to add the health placeholder. You can look at the Mega Man ZX games since it had 2 gauges vertically (Health and Weapon Gauge). And I would love for the Z-Knuckle to function like Beowulf where any attack can be held down to get stronger or any fisticuff sorta moveset (maybe add some Street Fighter moves since Capcom has already done that in other Mega Man titles).
Excellent to see more progress with this project. I'm really loving the improvements, your takes on the weapons and especially the weapon animations, they are glorious! The one bit of feedback I'd give would be for the Triple Rod since it being used like a halberd instead of a spear is a nice idea but I feel like it misses what the rod could be utilised for. Just slightly. I would probably give it the piercing like attacks just like in the original and the range extending tip so it works for some range control of enemies. I'd recomend looking at the NieR: Automata spear moveset for inspiration on that too. Still, this is awesome. Even if it's released as a sort of mess around demo like the MMX Engine rather than a full game, I'd be happy. Megaman Zero in 3D with MGS gameplay is a dream come true either way. Keep it up and I'll be happy to see more progress!

I’m actually really excited for this. I can’t wait to see more as the project develops.
a 3D beat-em up in the style of a DMC game makes sense for the Mega Man Zero series. This feels like a game if Platinum made Mega Man Zero and it just feels natural.
Real talk man, you better be making you own Indie action game after this, cause i have my eye on you and im hype to see what you do next
the combo system from megaman Zero 3 was already in-depth for a 2d action game, and seeing entire Megaman Zero being remade in 3D makes me feel happy and i really look forward to the project :D
This keeps getting cooler and cooler
frankly, having the Zknuckle operate exactly how it did in Z4 would be daunting but potentially super cool to work with, considering how many weapons the enemies could use and how they could augment the kit you're giving Zero.
I Gotta say i Never Played a mega man Game but thanks to The project, now i want to
Damn, this is pretty impressive and I Love the attention to detail.
Lord I pray this becomes a game and I hope this truly comes out for all platforms
@@bowlofcereal4701Same. Waited almost 20 years just for a glimpse.
@@goldman77700 I grew up with the classic games and the original Mega Man will always have a soft spot in my heart but I swear Zero doesn't get enough love. He needs an anime, 3D remake, or something 😩
God the ability to quick swap between subweapons to mix up combos is wild, hell yes
Zero has been seen in artworks with multiple sabers so having both the saber and the buster makes sense
Honestly by this logic you can even make the shield _another_ saber
This project brings me so much joy to see!! ❤
I can’t wait to play it
Love to see this project of your coming together, the combos you do felt super sick. As a person who enjoys character action game this looks like fun as hell to do with all of Zero's arsenal of weapons.
Also to add the health placeholder. You can look at the Mega Man ZX games since it had 2 gauges vertically (Health and Weapon Gauge). And I would love for the Z-Knuckle to function like Beowulf where any attack can be held down to get stronger or any fisticuff sorta moveset (maybe add some Street Fighter moves since Capcom has already done that in other Mega Man titles).
the project is looking firee!!! 🔥 let's keep it going!
I can't believe I missed this. Looks better each time!
tbh the last air attack from the Recoil Rod air combo looks like Zero just farting really aggressively and I'm here for that.
