- In this video I take you to the smallest Bulgarian village, where at this time of the year there are more dogs than humans. Then I cross the border again to Greece where I visit some pretty incredible tombs and nearly get my van broken into.

Just a little safety advice. If you want to prevent anybody break in to your van, while you're there, take a ratchet straps and strap your doors from the inside, using door handles.. Even if someone breaks your doorlocks, they won't be able to get inside the van. Happy travels Marina. Im with you since your Scottish Diaries.
Inner door handles are often only screwed into some plastic clips in the door. If they pull hard, the door will open and the inside of the door can be damaged. It's like those people screwing in their radios with extra screws ending up with a stolen radio and a completely damaged dashboard. They eventually also just break a window to cut the strap....
That’s a great tip and I will keep it in mind while I travel! 🚐🇨🇦❤️

The best and cheapest alarm for small vehicles is the alarms for bicycles, the ones that are motion sensors,so that if anyone tries to open your van as soon as they move it the alarm goes off. We have the one called “Fosmon ani theft burglar bike alarm” Yes it works with small watch type batteries but it is small but very loud, this comes with a fob that you can turn on and off, you can Velcro it on any part of the van interior wall, so that if anyone tries to break into the van and therefore moves it , it will go off and scare them away thinking it’s a proper van alarm. 😂😊 It works very well, and has several different types of alarm, but we use the regular one. ( bought online through Amazon) they have a new one that you can charge via USB less than $30 US dollars.

You've learned something important about how you want to travel. I think you thought you would do more "far away" (plane) travel, but traveling in the van seems to suit you well. After all, you are in Europe! SO much to see! A dog fits the van travel life very well. Well done to figure out what's missing and what you need. What a strangely patronizing comment for an OG van lifer who started her channel 5 years ago about traveling Europe. Marina's been here years longer than you've cared to watch.
I didn't find that patronising at all. It feels more like that they are happy she's found her path. Text is so easy to misinterpret so it's best to be kind in your responses.

A friend said he failed to get a picture or two of feral cats that they feed, when fifteen were in a tree and on was near the top.
Regarding your getting another Dog...
I mentioned before about a Shelter on the Island of Crete... Takis Shelter is well known .. he has more than 450 dogs there and he and his staff have, in many cases, achieved wonders with injured, abused and neglected animals.
I understand it may not be practical for you to go there.. just a suggestion.

God now I want to visit Bulgaria so bad...but only when there are no tourists around. And find that cat and hug it till it cannot take it anymore.
You cant' imagine how I sympathize your desire to have a dog along. I always travel with my Yorkie. He doesn't provide safety, but even when he looks at you, makes you want to hug him and squeeze him makes you just feel better.
So you went to Kerkini. One of the most beautiful landscapes in Northern Greece, specially in winter. If you are going south, look for a village called "Paleos Panteleimon". It's near the National road, it has a fantastic view. Also there is an archaeological site at Dion. Don't miss it.Glad to have you in my country, sorry that I can't offer any hospitality, since I am in Bogota Colombia right now. Any way, if you still be in Greece after 8/3, we would be more than happy to meet you.
If you already passed these places look for the 'Plastira Lake".

oh Marina, your videos bring me so much Joy. We have a collie and she goes everywhere we go and makes everything more fun.. including van trips. She had a collapse at the weekend and we thought it was the end but she has gone from being unable to stand on Monday to wobbling around the garden today and the joy I feel is indescribable! She's an old lady at 13 but she still loves life. Can't wait to see who you bring into your life.

Loved those displays at the second museum and all the big soft mutts. Look forward to seeing you with a new dog. We lost ours last year, he was very old. I’m not sure I’m ready to get another, as the older I get the more keenly I feel their loss.

If you are near Dryanovo (central Bulgaria) please contact the shelter "Street Hearts Bulgaria" run by a fabulous English couple. They do amazing work, the views up there are just stunning, nature, monasteries, water falls, etc. And you can see the best dogs ever! 🙂

You could try the Orion Ultraview 10x50 binoculars or the Nikon Action EX 10x50. They are larger than the ones you have but should give stunning views! Recommended in the Backyard Astronomer's Guide but great for daytime birdwatching as well!

The idea of the tablecloth fabric is that it is scotch guarded with a solution that makes it waterproof...but if you wash it in the washing machine, it will most likely remove most of it. You can however purchase a spray to apply again. Good choice though. Thank you for letting us live virtually through you. Be safe my friend.♥️

As to Greece, I don't think I've ever seen the north, only the islands. The lake was beautiful as were the museums. I hope you enjoyed your trip as much as I did, even though I don't have a dog at the moment either.
P.S. I hope you haven't had any more trouble with the lights on the van.
