Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Us young guys need to learn from the experts like you.
Hey. Thanks again for tuning in!
Nice job getting that powerhead back in place without damaging the gasket. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time you were getting it back into place! Glad it worked out in one shot!
Hahaha! Thanks again !
It's tedious but you got her done. And no fingers were crushed. Victory.
Thanks for tuning in! Yes!
That came out quick. So what's the DoHickey 😂 can't wait to hear it running catch you next time 👍
Thanks for tuning in! The dohickey was the lower crank seal housing. Thanks again !
Thanks for the Video!. I always use the aviation "sticky" on these exhaust gaskets, less chance of gasket damage and extra sealing power!
Thanks for tuning in! Yes a lot of people do. Thanks again & Stay tuned !
"What is this?" @ 11:04 is the water tube washer, part number 0330658. Don't lose it, they are NO LONGER AVAILABLE. It goes on top of the water tube, which has an integral flange on it to hold the washer in place. The purpose of the washer is to keep the rubber grommet from getting loose and sliding down the water tube, causing a major leak and drop in water pressure.
We've talked about the blue silicone before. It is to keep water from getting to the lower bearing head. You should have put some new silicone on the circular portion of the mid-section surrounding where the bearing head fits down onto the mid-section, just prior to reinstalling the power head (per the shop manual). Thanks for the video.
Thanks for tuning in! Yes I had to look it up, never seen one before, they're still some around on ebay, but they're stupid expensive. Yes, I remember, on the other 25 tracker I talked about, you must have been the guy I was referring to in the video. That was the first time I've ever seen silicone on one. I think with the newer style seal housing and the marine grease it will be less likely to leak, unless it sinks! Hahaha Thanks again !
i need to get one of those engine hoist would help me out the bigger the horsepower the heavier they get. great video. 😊
Hey. Thanks for tuning in! Yes, definitely a back saver! Thanks again !
I use an old flywheel puller with an eyebolt threaded into it to lift motors probably get one at harbor freight for $20 saves a lot of drama cut and busted fingers 😅🤙 but good job using what you got The Real Life Saga continues
I woulda double sling choked it 180 degrees apart to keep it level, but sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do-👍
Thanks for tuning in! Yeah it was last minute idea. Thanks again !
Another good vid!
That flat hard piece in the upper water tube hole is meant to hold the rubber in as it also mashes it making for a better seal. I found them on 30's and 35's so I use one on the 25 too. I want all the water flow I can get, travel miles WOT between bays at times.
I put bolts in the flywheel puller holes to attach a cable before.
Thanks again for tuning in! Yeah, I had to check the schematic, never seen one before. Thanks again !
Nice video - interested to see what happened with Erika's old controls. Changing Powerheads is a job - hope the flip is worth the effort. Can't wait for the next video on the Real Life Saga.
Thanks for tuning in! Yes it should be. Long shaft remote 25's - 30's are a hard sell around these parts. Thanks again !
There is an OMC lifting strap that can be inserted under the top head bolts. It will allow the motor to be lifted or lowered in place pretty square. But of course, one never has one of those on hand when needed. Take care and be merry !
👍Thanks !
Man, very lucky getting the head on without damaging the gasket the way you loaded it. It does beat loading by hand especially that big
By Far ! Thanks again !
Got to love those dohikies
Hahaha!
Good video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looks good I was looking to install a silencer on my 1994 25 evinrudes carb do you know if the older 25 that have them will fit?
Trying to quiet it down thanks
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. I've never seen one on a 25hp. Hows the foam in the hood look. That's what usually quiets them down. Thanks again & Stay Tuned !
Can you make a video on how to remove the entire steering bracket? I’m about to swap a tiller handle bracket on my 77’ Johnson 35 from a 78’ Johnson 25.
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Here's one in the series where I swapped everything. I actually swapped it a couple times in this series of videos. Hope they help. Thanks again & Stay tuned ! ruclips.net/video/frdou5L4t-M/видео.html
I thought the cam should be between the timing marks. Enjoy your videos!
Thanks for tuning in! The cam follower or roller sets the timing/synchronization for low speed on the throttle cam marks. Thanks again & Stay tuned !
Those yamaha v4s like the one on that glastron rip. I've got a 130 counter rotating prop going on my aquasport.
Thanks for tuning in! Sweet!
Hey Outboard! I just got my first boat with a 20hp Johnson, This engine is giving me trouble, wont idle and hardly runs, rebuilt the carb, didnt help and found no spark on the bottom head. Ive been checking out your channel but I have no idea where to start to get this "new to me" old school engine purrin like a cat! I have no experience with outboards but ive rebuilt a honda from scratch thats a means to say that Im mechanically inclined and youtube certified im just a fish out of water when it comes to outboards.
I did successfully get the lower unit off and changed out the water pump with oem parts That went well
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Go back to basics. Check the compression first thing to be sure your working with a good motor. Then check for spark, you already know it's only firing on one cylinder so there's an ignition problem. I don't know the year of the motor and what ignition it has. Most people start swapping parts, like coils, from one cylinder to the other to find out what part is causing the no spark issue. Or you could give it a super tune up and just replace everything. You rebuilt the carb but did you clean it? I mean really clean it! Check out my carb cleaning video, the two most important things. You'll see what I mean. Also check ebay for a good used omc manual specific to the year/model. It has a great troubleshooting section plus everything else you'll need to know. Thanks again & Stay tuned !
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 Ive done exactly what you said and I hope u get a kick out of this, one of the spark plug wires was plane broke! Did a continuity test on them after I pulled the flywheel off and disassembled the head and found that one of the plug wires came apart due to corrosion. So after pulling the head and cover off to check things out I ordered a couple parts to give it a good ol super tune. I also found the black ooz on the armature. Its a mid 80's 20hp Johnson with a carved out intake so a 25hp giver take supposedly
Compression checked out well at 125 on the top and 115 on the bottom. The carb was Super cleaned following your videos and Im replacing the needle and the needle plastic bearing to be safe as the original needle had a good groove in it and was missing the plastic needle bearing. Your videos have helped Alot and are entertaining, looking forward to more! Thank you for the knowledge! Next thing I gotta learn is linkage adjusting and more importantly Timing this bad boy!
Im replacing the armature, coil packs, wires, gaskets I pulled of course, t-tstat, fuel pump, double checking the carb, and also the fuel primer/choke and lines, even the small ones. The primer I have shoots fuel out its no good.
After all that it should run like a top but we will see.
@@socknetea 👌
If you want to utilize the high temp sensor could you just tie it into the yellow and black to kill the engine if overheat happens?
Hey. Possibly. But actually I noticed there is no brown wire coming from the power pack harness. And I believe there should be. I'll know when I get around to pull in the flywheel off and see what's going on. Stay tuned!
Any special tool or trick to get that nut out? I’ve tried every wrench in my arsenal. I can’t get it.
Ok I'm guessing the nuts on the studs. I bent a wrench with a slight curve in it. It's still takes a while but it works. Really only need it for one side. Thanks again !
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 Yes! the nut on the driver side! Ok Im gunna start bending wrenches! lol
So a buddy got a boat a few weeks ago it has a 1991 Johnson 40hp VRO the boat sat a while we cleaned the carbs the vro has been deleted motor sounds great in a tank went to the lake started it with the high idle the boat wont go over 6 mph any ideas what it could be
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Yeah I hate when that happens. Could be a dozen different reasons why. What may seem like a fuel issue could be an ignition problem and vice versa. Without hearing/seeing it run I have no idea. It could be something as simple as clogged high speed jets, especially if it's been sitting, they need to be reamed out, no amount of carb spray will clean them. They often get overlooked when cleaning the carbs. Primer solenoid leaking and flooding out the plugs, or not enough fuel reaching the plugs. Air leak somewhere. Or something a little more complicated like a timing issue, link & sync, bad ignition parts breaking down as they warm up. And the list goes on. It will drive you crazy! Hahaha. You can spend hours watching vids and reading outboard forums, I really hate the forums, everybody has an opinion but never the answer. Anyway I would suggest your buddy getting an OMC manual specific to the year/model. Check ebay for a good used one. It has a great troubleshooting section on this topic and more. Thanks Again & Stay tuned !
Get r done baby!
Hahaha! Thanks for tuning in!
Them stuck bolts especially aluminium, some very thin penetrating oil, and try 'important' using a daoull punch + hammer too shock the top flat head into the block head a couple of times then use the hexagonal spanner, it should crack loose.
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Yeah I've had my share of stuck/corroded bolts, trust me! It "should" crack loose. Or crack Off! Hahaha Thanks again & Stay tuned !
The older you get the more things are p.i.t.a. You are a cleaning machine ,easier to do when it's apart. How did Erica make out with the lightening damage? Those dohickys are always in the way, good thing your fingers weren't. 👍
Thanks for tuning in! They just totaled her car. I fixed the blown up irrigation pipes and she has issues with tv's and appliances. Crazy! They still have to fix the road, that was just a temporary patch they put on. Thanks again !
You gonna sell me that motor when you get done with it for my flats boat
👌Your on the list! Hahaha. How big is the flats boat?
Hey,sell me a 25 or 30 HP. There seems to be a shortage of em up here in east Tennessee. It would almost be worth the drive down!! Be cool!
Thanks for tuning in! Okay!
