    Mechanical carnage! Some patience, many years of experience and it's alive. Calling on the outboard gods doesn't hurt either.😅

    I have the same motor. Mine is a 1999. Been rebuilt so looks and runs like new. But i need a 35. Not quite enough for my boat. Originally had a 1984 johnson 35. Having hard time finding a 35 for it.

      Hey. Thanks for tuning in! Yeah I rarely ever messed around with the 35's. They always seemed to be long shaft remotes which I had no use for. Your better off just beefing up your 25 like I'm doing on my "Beef it up" build. Bigger intake & carb or carb jets if you have the right carb already. I had an 83-84 25 and just swapped the carb with a 35 carb that came on a parts motor I bought, gained a solid 5 mph! It was a match made in heaven! One of the best outboards I've ever had. Thanks again & Stay tuned !

      @THISOLDOUTBOARD1 I was thinking of doing just that but I always though you could only do it with the 80s models because they used the same blocks for 20 30 35 horse. Are you saying I can do the same with a 99 model using the same year model parts from a 35 horse? Mine is a remote the original motor was tiller. I converted to stick steering because I run the river here in south alabama and it's nice to be up front and can see better.

      @@owensbama1923 hey. you'd have to go to marineengine.com and compare parts schematics. I'm using an 89 25 powerhead with a 93 30-35 intake, bypass cover and carb. The carb came with a 67D high speed jet and I replace it with a 72D. both powerheads were the same, same size pistons/all. I've only had it out twice, the lake is full of weeds/grass, its everywhere! managed to hit 27 dragging grass but I'm sure it will hit 29-30 in clean water. its all in my recent videos!

    What octane do you run on these older motors. I have a 1986 25 hp . I don’t know it it don’t like the fuel or maybe I’m mixing to much oil. But it don’t have no speed .

      Hey. Thanks for tuning in. I just use regular unleaded. It's 50:1 mix, 2.56 oz. oil to 1 gallon gas. Clean that carburetor, if the high speed orifice (jet) is clogged you won't go nowhere! Thanks again & Stay tuned !

    What do you think could make that on /off lean sneeze. I have a 25 commercial that dose it. On the water i seems fine but at idle it dose it ?🦘👍

    • @THISOLDOUTBOARD1
      @THISOLDOUTBOARD1  Год назад

      Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Well normally it's due to fuel and air mixture is off. Lean is to much fuel not enough air. In most cases just adjusting the slow speed idle screw/needle out or counterclockwise will richen up the mixture and should cure the lean sneeze condition. If the needle adjustment has no effect then fuel is getting sucked through somewhere or there's a clog on the needle side. A leaking primer pump or primer solenoid will do it, or the needle in the carb bowl is not seating properly. Also depending on your outboard year, if the carb has the slow speed needle on the side and not coming out the front then there will be a small air bleed fixed orifice in the front/top of the carb, make sure its not clogged! Thanks again !
