Riding the Seattle Monorail from the Space Needle to Downtown Seattle

- The Seattle Monorail is a public transit system which runs as a single elevated train line from the Seattle Center, where the Space Needle is located, to Westlake Center in downtown Seattle. The monorail is owned by the City of Seattle and operated by Seattle Monorail Services.
The monorail was built for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, which was held at the Seattle Center. It was originally intended to be a temporary attraction, but it proved to be popular with visitors and locals alike and was kept in operation after the fair ended. The monorail was designed by the Alweg Rapid Transit Systems company of Germany, and it is based on a similar system that Alweg built in Cologne, Germany.
The monorail is a popular tourist attraction, offering views of the city skyline and the Space Needle. It is also used by commuters and locals as a convenient and efficient way to travel between the Seattle Center and downtown Seattle. The monorail operates daily, with trains running every 10 minutes during peak hours and every 15 minutes during off-peak hours.

Note that there were no track switches. It is essentially two separate tracks where each monorail just goes back and forth on the same track all day. That's part of why this would not be practical as a real public transit system.

When I was in Seattle, I would ride ride the Mono-rail. It cost .35¢ in 1980.
There's a Light Rail station at Westlake, that you can take to/from the airport. Having been to Seattle many times, I find the lack of bustle downtown, to be borderline depressing.

I've been looking for a video that shows the whole experience of taking it including going into the station and getting the ticket and boarding the train. I rode from Northgate to Westlake and from Westlake to Monorail the other day. It was good!
But uh... the Monorail *does* get a bit hot during summer. It almost feels like a greenhouse.

We did this same ride at the end of last month. We totally got lost once getting off at the shopping centre lol. The streets didn’t make sense, neither their name signs or the way they faced. We ended up walking twice the distance to get to Pike Place Markets. Google maps kept taking us the wrong way 🤦♀️

It only has two stops. The light rail can be reached via the mall that he exited into (Westlake).
