    Great pattern. For those, who are afraid, dont be. It is acctually fairly easy to make. It takes a while to assemble, and it has a lot of parts, sure, but the result is well worth it. By the way, I bought the pattern on tuesday, and finished the mask on thursday. If I, who picked up leather work as a hobby due to lockdown some 6 months ago, and so far only made plague doctor masks and hats, can finish it, you can too.

    Fantastic! I’ve got the pattern and now need to get the leather...and learn how to die it like that! I can see that it will be a little bit of a struggle to sew the tail together correctly...I’ll need to watch the video of that part a few more times to get the process right. I’m so looking forward to doing this mask.

  • @CraigH999
    @CraigH999 4 года назад +2

    I would suggest using curved needles when sewing the tail together it will get into the tight spots as the pieces narrow. For myself, I would have sewn the leg segments differently - the first ones attached to the body I would have done under rather than on top of the body - I would have done the same with the second leg segment - sew it under the first and so on. I would have also put the black pieces under the leg segment as well. There's nothing wrong with the way you did it, it's just a design choice. I really like how you dyed the leather the effect was well done! Cheers for sharing your talents and for creating something really fun!

    • @LeatherHubPatterns
      @LeatherHubPatterns  4 года назад +1

      Thank you for the suggestion! Indeed curved needles would be great for this job but we weren't sure everyone would have access to some and it seemed simpler to just use what he had. We figured everyone will try to tweak the way it's assembled so we didn't put much thought in how the fingers overlap. We have seen every possible method meanwhile and they're all fine as they create a tiny bit of diversity. Lastly, thank you very much for the wonderful words and for taking the time to share your thoughts with us!

    So I've now made this a few times, but the one thing I am wondering about is the legs. The shape of the holes for threading on the pieces labeled 2, are opposite from those on the 5 and 6. Same with the "4" pieces. Unless you cross over 5 and 6 with the legs, wouldn't it make more sense to just invert the thread holes on either 5 and 6 for 2 and 4 or vice versa?

    • @LeatherHubPatterns
      @LeatherHubPatterns  8 месяцев назад +2

      The idea was to force the end of those parts into a shape that looked a bit like knuckles. I think they should have been tensioned even more to be honest

    Looking at the pattern, and the way the curves on the stitch lines run, I assumed that the fingers would be stitched flesh sides together.
    What's the particular reason for having opposite curves going together?
    Does it make the leather curve a particular way or something?

    I purchased the pattern and material...I thought it might be a bit cheaper, but it's cheaper to have it made...just an FYI to people considering it...if this is your first time working with leather, like myself, it's fairly straight forward as far as cutting is concerned. I just wish the video or another follow up video spent some time on the stitching...explaining how to do the actual stitching and knots, etc. So far I have all the pieces cut and am waiting to do some dye then stitching..

    • @96Eclipsed
      @96Eclipsed 3 года назад

      I'm finally done with the stitching of the main body...legs and strap coming next. It took me this long because I did a few sections a night just before bed...I do wish LetherHub would put out a separate video detailing just how to do the stitching...

    I’m on my 2nd & 3rd one of these 1st one I sold, should have kept it. 2nd one the tail is almost done and it’s got a home to go to, with Tiny Texie. And then the 3rd one is shaped and stained, just got to start working on putting it together.
    The start has to be the hardest part for me, so many parts to get through and hold together as you try to get the needles through them all and continue down the row. I’ve found out I can control the needles better if I use the curved ones.

    I have been looking at this mask for a little while now since i first saw it on social media. I just ordered one of the DIY kits. I noticed that it mentions you need to measure your head so that you pick the right size. Yet I did not see any size options for the DIY kit. Maybe that is for the completed kits but they are sold out. So I take it that with the DIY kit it you do not have to order a specific size. That you just make it for the size you are when putting it together. Is that the case? There is not much info on that part and I did not see anything about the sizes in the tutorial.
